  1. It's exactly what he would have done at Melbourne. He continues to substantiate his down-hill ski work. Very, very, very rarely does he get it done against good opposition.
  2. Buddy's contract talks are clearly hampering his onfield performance. No doubt one of the top 10 players in the game. I'm probably a little unfair. He's probably top 5 in the game.
  3. It's a bit defeatist though, rpfc. He's been a frustrating and inconsistent player over the journey, but his experience and body size are a requirement for our list. Particularly in the midfield. At least he has the skills and ability, rather than having to recruit a far less talented, experienced player like a Gilles or Pedersen, whose skills aren't up to it.
  4. Thank you for your eloquence, Colin. I was trying to get there. Well said though.
  5. The one man not on this list that I'm hoping will be available is Clarkson. With every day that passes I prefer Clarkson to Roos.
  6. From quarter time. He misses tackles and his disposal is mostly deplorable. And my god Blease is soft and his disposal is overrated.
  7. We've still not heard why people voted Szondy over Gutnick...
  8. Hang on. So now the Doctor is a racist? What are you talking about? If anything he was standing up for Gutnick and speaking out against the probable anti-semitism towards the former President. Once again, WJ has noted that there were some that used Gutnick's religion to undermine him.
  9. Geez, I'm glad we didn't play Fitzpatrick. Still couldn't hit the side of a barndoor. Meanwhile, Joel Macdonald will never play AFL again.
  10. Hang on. What? Zaharakis is worth a first rounder, plus Sylvia? Incredible. Even if Sylvia was tradeable, I'd want more than Zaharakis. Decent B grade mid in an up and about team. Nothing more. Overrated for mine.
  11. No, he's not within his rights at all. We've persisted with him, based solely on one or two performances a year and his "potential", for almost a decade. He needs to repay that faith.
  12. It seemed to me to be a flippant remark from the Doctor that has been taken far too seriously. The inference you've taken may well have been intended, but as WJ has noted, there were indeed pockets of anti-semitism in the anti-Gutnick clan at the time. Further, the question still hasn't been answered. Can anyone provide us with an approximate outline of why people voted Szondy over Gutnick? Was it the mere connections and power alluded to by WJ or something more? Thank you.
  13. It's rarely ignored at all. We bring it up on here all the time and point to it as being the main reason we've been experience starved, and to be honest, continue to be.
  14. Fair enough. I didn't see his Port game. I was just going on what was reported. Let's just say he was good. He did collect mid 20 disposals and kick a goal IIRC.
  15. If it's not done by the bye, it'll be done before the season's out. The crowd levels are already being influenced horribly. It's a good point though about PJ's review. It makes sense.
  16. Jimmy T should not be playing this week. Horrible decision. It sounds like he had a great game, but if you want to develop him properly, he has to show some consistency at Casey before gifting him a game. And I agree with binman, why was he not selected last week if the plan was to bring him straight back into the side? Perhaps Sylvia and Viney going out forced the decision? Still that doesn't make sense, as both Viney and Sylvia are inside mids. For the moment, Jimmy is an outsider with not enough bulk to influence a one-on-one contest.
  17. We say this every week it seems now and rightfully. I can't see him being sacked before the bye though. If they didn't sack him last week after that absolutely abysmal performance, he'll last to the bye.
  18. Lol. You're argumentative, aren't you? My point was that it wasn't an enlightening article whatsoever.
  19. I see where you're coming from, goodvibes. I'd agree in essence that it'd be unwise to turn down one of the biggest names in the comp, as he would generate revenue across the board. His defection might also convince a number of kids to defect to Melbourne too, to follow their idol. That said, as you've noted, midfielders are important. If we could sign two mids - an A grade star and a B grade ball winner, then I'd say Buddy becomes a bit of a no brainer. But the fact remains that we must fix the midfield first, before we look to any other area of the ground.
  20. I certainly wouldn't say no to Dal Santo, but in my mind he's slightly more outside these days and less of an inside mid. It's less likely, but I'd much prefer Sam Mitchell or Brad Sewell. My thoughts at the end of last year haven't really changed. Their procurement might become slightly more realistic if Clarkson becomes available at season's end. Pity about Greene. Treloar is the other one I'd look at from GWS. Such a smooth mover.
  21. If Melbourne don't get a PP, no other club ever will. That's an opinion.
  22. I'm sorry Spirit, but there's no way Grimes is a star. Foot soldier for mine. His disposal and decision making is generally ridiculous. The only other on our list that could sit in that category with Jones is Frawley. If Clark had played the second half of last season to the same standard as the first half of the year, he'd be in that same bracket too.
