  1. I enjoyed the start of the season, but I'm with you now.
  2. It could just as likely be Treloar or Shiel, but would love Cameron. Imagine Cameron, Hogan and Dawes as third string. JKH, Salem and Kent at their feet. I like it. I like it a lot. We need to improve that midfield though. EDIT. I'd be happy enough with Patton, but obviously would prefer Cameron. Also, I'm assuming that Hogan would have to ruck in that system? Currently, Pederson does, but Dawes won't want to and isn't suited to it.
  3. Certainly a believable theory. The supporter base was told that Misson would require three pre seasons with our list to get players up to scratch. This coming pre-season will be his third in charge. There will be no excuses if we don't reach elite fitness next year. I expect us to run out games well, unless we do indeed delist a quarter of the list and replace them with kids.
  4. On the contrary, if he remains our captain, it underscores the atrociousness of our list. Let's not kid ourselves, his turn overs and decision making would see him in the reverses of every top 8 side. There are some real rose-coloured glasses put on, when it comes to Grimes. And lol to the link between between veganism and Grimes' lack of muscle. Yep, there's a link, but we have a team of people that look after player diets. Do we not think they'd be on top of this? There are supplements if it was ever really that dire. I love meat, but what a ridiculous argument to mount.
  5. Haha, I know the feeling. I want Shiel, Treloar, a KPF in Boyd or Patton and GCS's McKenzie, please.
  6. These thirteen are certainly in the gun. I concur. There's no way they'll trade Watts. His disposal is too damaging. Once we get up and running, he'll be a dangerous weapon. He's shown improvement this year, as has Matt Jones. The rest have either not played or struggled. Jones might get a stay of execution, but I don't think the other twelve will.
  7. Actually, the majority of Demonland has had a blindspot where Grimes is concerned, until recently. Some people are now beginning to realise that Jack was massively overhyped and this was most probably off the back of his undoubted excellent leadership off field. Jack used to be able to get the ball, but he's never been a good user at AFL level. Now he rarely wins his own ball and his disposal and decision making haven't improved. I'd argue he's gone backwards. Roos clearly wants players who are versatile. He has played a few positions, but to detriment of the team. Strength is apparently one of his assets, but he gets consistently beaten in one-on-ones. However, when Grimes is on song, he can read the play well in front of him and chop off opposition forward thrusts with intercept marks. Finally, he plays in arguably one of the most important roles in a modern AFL team. As a half back flanker, he should be setting up the play, but he's simply not a good disposer and struggles one-on-one. His worth to the team is minimal. I love that he loves the club, but when his contract is up, he should be put up for trade or delisted. He's played over 80 games now. We know what we get with him and we've seen him go backwards under Roos. Time's up soon.
  8. This is a tricky situation, because I want us to pick the best players. If it means waiting an extra twelve months for a draftee to develop, for the long-term sake of the list, I'd much prefer that. We can't afford to work to a two or three year timeline, just because Roos may leave. That's doing a disservice to our long-term list management. I understand it's frustrating for everyone that we are continually anchored to the bottom of the table, but I want the best players. I want us to build our list properly this time, otherwise we run the risk of becoming a middle of the road team for the next decade. If the best thing to do means taking new draftees, so be it. Afterall, they may do a Wines and impact at AFL level immediately.
  9. Bailey and those around him created the culture. Neeld then continued it and created his own problems. The players have to take responsibility now, but they got to this stage via poor coaching and development from Bailey and Neeld.
  10. It was something like 46% at quarter time. It's a combination of decision making; a lack of support from team mates to run into more dangerous areas; and the remainder is a general lack of ability to hit certain targets.
  11. I agree, ADC. Personally, I can still see Roos staying on for 5 years. He'll need to.
  12. It's not the forwardline, it's the delivery. We need to move the ball quicker and gut run to make an option inside fifty, if there isn't already one. When did Gonzo verbally attack the players? What a load of rubbish. That's completely untrue. I'm sick of this high and mighty twaddle that is often only substantiated by plainly fabricated remarks, such as saying certain posters refer to our players as 'spuds', 'duds' etc. Give it a rest. Demonland is a discussion forum, where posters have a right to express their opinions on an ability of a player. It mightn't be an accurate assessment or you might disagree, but it is their opinion nonetheless. I don't agree with calling players 'spuds' or 'duds' etc, but they're terms that are rarely used on Demonland. I see those phrases typed more by Saty more than I see it proffered as abuse.
  13. Great news. Good on ya, Crossy. Come back soon. We miss your hardness and ball winning ability around the stoppages.
  14. Didn't want to create a new thread for this, but my old man (not to be trusted as a source lol) was saying that he'd heard Ling as the successor is a done deal and Harley will succeed PJ. The latter sounded like tripe. Has anyone else heard this? I was snowed under with work this week and didn't keep up with any AFL press.
  15. Not sure it's up to PJ. He's gone and reshaped the FD. It's now up to the FD to shape and reengineer the list.
  16. He lacks an AFL engine. He was really labouring in the third and fourth, but that shocking moment aside, he was really promising.
  17. Almost totally disagree. It was Geelong's outside run that killed us today. We severely lack outside run. We don't need to take speedsters with early picks necessarily, but we need players with good skills, who can take the game on from half back.
  18. If they're giving Tapscott a go, then yes. Disagree with this. I feel like there were even patches in today's ordinary effort, where we regained some ascendancy and settled into the game.
