  1. He was having a lot of work done on his back during the intervals last week. I suspect it's just cautionary.
  2. Jack, we tanked once and obviously now we're not. Other clubs did it too and went unpunished. It's a bloody joke, but let's move on.
  3. Tapscott always looked like a footballer, but never played like one. I don't recall him ever playing a really good game. He may have been involved in a good passage of play or a good moment here or there, but he never even played a good game. I'm sorry it probably sounds harsh, but he was never 'in' the game. Toumpas was one of the best players on the ground the other day. I'm not saying his game was the greatest game in the history of the sport, but the Tapscott comparison is just rubbish.
  4. If this is true, we will struggle to score 5 goals, let alone 7. What a pity it would be, because they're not actually that strong on paper. No Pedersen either. So it'll have to be Dawes and probably Fitzy in the forward 50. So ordinary, my god.
  5. Tapscott never did, so I don't think the comparison is apt at all. Jimmy's game against St Kilda was so far and away better than anything Tapscott ever delivered that it isn't even funny.
  6. Don't know much about White. Perhaps he's worth a go. I dread to think how a Terlich would go.
  7. Looking at our (potential) back six this week, doesn't fill me with much hope. In fact, it tells me that we're going to give up at least 10 goals to turn over off half back and inside defensive 50. Dunn and Jetta are really the only two that can kick it. However, I'm going down there for the sixth straight year. It's going to be ugly. Hoping we can string some good footy together though and tackle ferociously.
  8. Frost will become a perfectly good swing man. For his hangers, Howe seemingly has some currency. Bank it. I wonder if Gold Coast would be interested...
  9. I watched him jog around in front of me most of the day. Paradoxically, we can do better. If we got a pick we'd be looking to trade it.
  10. That just says Howe is defeatist. What a horrible attitude to have. If we got a first rounder for him we'd be laughing.
  11. A lazy, one dimensional player. Look past the hangers and he's got nothing.
  12. And this tells me that you're utterly scared by the past, OD. Do you remember what things were like when we played under Neeld? We wouldn't have got within 10 goals of St Kilda yesterday. That's where we're coming from. It's absolute BS to suggest we haven't come very far. We've still got a long way to go though.
  13. Some people don't like it tough either. For me, it's character building and it'll make success all the more worth it. I was ropeable yesterday, but I'm finding following Melbourne is getting easier. Okay, so we do that to our supporters yesterday, but for the first time in years, I can clearly see the future. Hogan, Brayshaw, Viney, Salem, Tyson, Tommy Mac, Vanders, Toumpas and Watts. These guys are all young. Watts is the oldest at 24. We have Petracca waiting in the wings and some would say we could add Frost and Kent to that list. Personally, I think that's premature on those guys, but I trust the FD, particularly Roos and McCartney. So that's 12. I'm sure we'll add another two or three good players in the off season and by the time Roos leaves, Goodwin will have a really, really good young list.
  14. Agree to a point. Some of our old blokes will never get it.
  15. I actually thought this was a sarcastically titled thread. I LOLed. Anyway, not sure I agree. You don't need many handballs if they're effective. We overuse it ridiculously. Particularly yesterday. It was heart in the mouth stuff. I had a headache watching yesterday's game and it wasn't just because we threw it away in the last 40 seconds. Obviously, the overuse currently is much more about the lack of run and supporting spread, than it is about poor decision making. Although, some of the latter can feed into the overuse. Exhibit A of poor decision making, Grimes handballing backwards to Gawn standing still when the corridor was open yesterday.
  16. I'd prefer it to be against Essendon. Jeffy can kick his 10 against Carlton. :D
  17. Watts is doing the right things now. He also seems to be one of the only players who isn't afraid to back himself. Surely, yesterday was evidence of this. Watts, Toumpas and Cross will and should stay. The rest will and should go.
  18. We did the reverse huddle a bit today. Watts called it. Kicked it straight up the middle to Tommy Mac on the run, who dropped it and from memory, the ball ended up coming straight back or it was bounced by the umpire. I wonder how much/if any of Goodwin's tactics are being implemented by Roos. I suspect we won't start anything too creative until next year or the year after.
  19. I don't think anyone is saying we're set for talent. We're just not stupid enough to believe we'll get a PP. Not to mention we'll win more than 5 games...
  20. That's the thing about this season, mate. Our best is far and away better than we've seen in a long while, but our bad is still as putrid as the Neeld days, IMO.
  21. What a horrible post. You can do better than that, jnrmac.
  22. Can't recall Tyson playing a worst game for the MFC and I don't know which game you were watching, but Howe had a ripping second half? Agree with the rest though. It's hard to see through the error-riddled insipidness of the rest of the game, but there were definitely some positives today.
