Dion Prestia?

Well, no. We clearly have improved (6 wins, two better than last year). I don't disagree that we've been deplorable the last few weeks and shouldn't be excused though.

Still reckon we'll get Prestia and reckon we might get Lynch too. I've no doubt Roos and co are targeting blank flankers with skill that have the versatility to also push into the midfield.

I'll be going, but don't begrudge anyone who isn't.

I reckon 3 are pretty likely too.

And games have been over early as the Demons have managed 1.5 in combined first terms over those three weeks, giving away 19.6. By half-time the Western Bulldogs, Blues and Dockers had kicked a combined 35.10 to Melbourne's 8.9. Disgraceful.

Newton's not the future. He's a down hill skier. He doesn't run the other way. I'd say these guys are better than playing Terlich, but that's not saying much. Given we've developed our list over the past two years, we've now got a better standing in the AFL community, which means we should be able to target slightly better fringe players than we were at our lowest ebb. I'd say our FD would prefer one or two more senior recruits (ala Vince and Cross), but if they're not out there, the FD will back themselves to steady the MFC ship with the young blokes we have leading the way.

We haven't been linked with anyone because our club doesn't leak like a sieve anymore. I'm sure we've got a number of players we've spoken to and are interested in. It'll be interesting to see who we get though.

Lynch, Prestia, McKenzie and Whitfield would do me nicely. Dreamworld, I'd add Bennell. Second rounder on Lynch. First rounder on Prestia. Future second rounder on McKenzie. Future first rounder on Bennell. Howe for Whitfield.

This is the major thing holding back most of our players, from Tom McDonald to Nathan Jones to Dom Tyson.

His 'chase' after turning the ball over on 50 was concerning, but it was his first game. At least he got involved in the play a bit.

Well, he fumbled the ball under little pressure and then took the legs of an opposition player. It's a stupid rule, but the free against was there, IMO.

The only reason Grimes has gotten any game time is through the injury of others. He's a VFL grade player at best, with horrible disposal. He won't be on the list much longer.

Dermie kept saying all day how Oscar is neat with his skills. I can't recall a kick of his that hit the target. He looks to have a better kicking action than Tom, but so far his disposal is just as iffy. First game blues though.

The major reason I didn't think he'd make it was that he's been languishing in the VFL for the second half of the year. I hope he has a good pre season and can string some good footy together next season. We need all the good ball users we can get our hands on.

Cross, Viney and Garlett were our best. Freo put the cue in the rack at quarter time. Another really disappointing performance.

Garlett's been really good. Showjng a bit of leadership too.
