As long as we can get players to replace them, blokes like Garland and Watts should be tradeable. We need to be thoughtful, but ruthless at the end of this year. We need to get some A grade midfield talent in and cut away the soft underbelly still clearly present within the older statesmen of our group.I've been a Watts fan and defender in the past and I've been similarly a fan of Col, but the club's position on these guys really is untenable now. Another season where our experienced players have failed to stand up at crucial moments. You keep blokes like N Jones, who clearly has a huge standing amongst the group, but move on the rest of those that embody the old Melbourne.

I agree, but I'm simply going on the first match against GWS this year. Without a dominant ruckman, GWS are nothing.

Reckon the untouchable core is Hogan, Brayshaw, Gawn, Petracca, Viney, Salem and Tyson. Vanders, Stretch and ANB won't be being shopped anywhere either. Tommy Mac might be in there somewhere too.

I think the big fish lurking in nearby waters this week could very well have factored into the club's decision to trade Jack. Package him with our pick 6 and it might be enough to get the job done for Bennell or O'Meara or Prestia or *insert A grade mid here*. We could see Garland, Howe, Watts and Cross go this off season.

And if they replied to them, it'd make them look pretty amateur, IMO.

Garland, Howe, Cross (retired), Grimes, White, Harmes, O Mac, JKH, Michie, Newton. I'm talking best 22 here. None of those guys should be or will be best 22 next year. That's huge. Haven't followed GWS heavily this year, but Mumford was the player who turned the game for them earlier this year. If Gawn can get on top early, I reckon we're a real shot. We would have walked it home earlier in the year had it not been for Mumford. It's ugly, but I'm not saying we can't win it.
