KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Maybe, but had we kicked straight in 2023, it could be a very different story. Playing our old method, minus Trac and half fit Clarry, we lost to Port by 2 points (prelim finalist), GWS by 2 points (semi finalist) and by 5 points against the eventual Premiers in Brisbane after a soft free was paid to hand them the winning goal. Put Trac back in that team, a fitter Oliver (apparently not), allow our guys to play the contest game they've honed; add the ball use from Langford, Lindsay, Windsor and McVee; and exploit the greater pace on the list from Lindsay, Windsor and Kolt, and away we go. This is why I was buoyant going in 2025. I thought we'd play essentially the same game style with a greater emphasis on being able to score off turnover. We've gone away from this trying to play something that has clearly killed the instincts of the players, to the point where there is no identifiable brand or game style on display now and the players appear confused. We should return to contest, stoppage and defence. We should even consider playing a hybrid of the territory game. The next evolution of the game will be defensive and that is what we've built our success on and built our list for.

Letter from Brad Green
"Thanks for staying with us", is an odd sign off. I'm not sure what I think of that.

New coach prospects
Is it Hinkley or is it Carr? Roos was "coach" in 2016, but Goody was essentially coaching then.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Very fair. And the fish bowl probably doesn't help.
- Time to go Goody?

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
We drafted Clarry and Trac and are now imploding, but I guess you're right. The leadership needs to be better next time.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Even if we could get him, Reid doesn't look good cultural fit for us...

Time to go Goody?
Choco did this with Dusty at Richmond, I had always hoped he would do the same with Clarry. It appears, not so much.

Time to go Goody?
And have the board say they were implicitly responsible? The board could have had PJ undertake the external review at the end of the last year. Instead they had Pert review himself.
-
Time to start a rebuild?
The latest review was run by Pert who later... resigned. Ridiculous conflict of interest. Signed off on by the board.
-
Time to go Goody?
But of course this isn't the board's fault. 🤦

Trade Targets
As usual, anyone that doesn't play for Melbourne is great.

Time to go Goody?
No, I blame the board. They installed Pert (a disaster) instead of those PJ put forward, and then allowed messy legal battles to play out over Goody's head for at least 12-18 months. And every club in the land has the same constraints vis a vis COVID, that's not a reasonable excuse. We got unlucky with Burgess wanting to move home. I think had we had him across 2022-2023 we'd have at least another flag, but the personnel inside the FD have clearly let standards plummet and continue to do so.

Time to go Goody?
Brad joined the board in November 2020. He and the board have been asleep at the wheel. The FD report directly to the board. The board is accountable.

The fish rots from the head and your mate Green is front and centre.

Time to go Goody?
It's pretty clear the review was a smokescreen. Deemocracy lobbied for an external review. The club didn't want to do one initially, but eventually bowed to this external pressure. Unfortunately, as the closed shop at board level remains, we got a tokenistic "external" review where Shand and Crowe were to restore harmony and team spirit. But has anyone heard from Shand and Crowe? Mentally, we went to water in Round 2. Green is a sycophant, his conversation with Clarry was all about the past, and nothing about Oliver's past 24 months, or the standards the club needs to set for the future. Green and the board need to take full responsibility and Smith needs to get the new CEO installed asap. Would any other club take 4-5 months to find a new CEO? I get we don't want just anyone, but our inability to land one should set off alarm bells with this administration. We need significant on and off field change over the next 6-9 months, and unfortunately I have no trust whatsoever in this board to put in place competent people.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
It's way too easy to manipulate mismatches with 1v1 footy. It's why it went out. But clearly the next evolution of footy will be one that slows down the ball movement of the opposition.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
After finishing in the top 4 and making a semi? Name a single club that would have done that and succeeded?

Time to go Goody?
I'm the same mate.

Time to go Goody?
I keep seeing this disrespectful nonsense from the constant neggies and it's the most naive,.ridiculous statement you could make. You don't fluke a flag, it is won by many.

Time to go Goody?
Yep, West Coast let it go on way too long. I was staggered to read on Demonland the other day, posters advocating for Adam Simpson. The only experienced coach I'd be interested in who's gettable is Bevo, otherwise we should be looking for a young up and comer.

Time to start a rebuild?
Chaplin's inability to get our forwards to lead up at the ball carrier tells me he's stuck in the groupthink of the coaching status quo at the club. Bassett might be the better choice.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Our pressure ratings have been ordinary post Round 1, so it's not just the Geelong and Essendon game.
-
POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
We were brilliant at times in Round 1 against GWS. That is what is so bizarre. Our stoppage game was on, our forward craft was there, our forwards had separation, and ever since three quarter time in Round 2 (although we were low pressure in the first half too), we've been abysmal.

Time to start a rebuild?
Indeed.
