  1. Oh, pipe down Saty. I'm a film producer. I know which one I'd rather be. A VFL player or a filmmaker doing what I love everyday.
  2. I was referring specifically to the idea that we should wrist slash because well managed clubs don't give up players. I think that's rubbish. They do.
  3. I think Ethan's being facetious. Someone ridiculously suggested that the reason behind Weideman's drafting was to appease Hogan.
  4. Not to derail the thread too much, but I presume Marshall is a KPF, mate?
  5. Yep, two years in a row I believe. Had a pretty good year in 2016. He had struggled to make the 22, but he played in 20 games this year. A solid season, averaging 21.7 disposals. If we are chasing him again it's probably to replace/upgrade on our fringe players like Bugg and Kennedy, plus the guys leaving this year like Michie and Grimes. He's an upgrade... just.
  6. That Burnley loss was hopeless though. We've got no answer when sides park the bus. Just as we did under BR. Offensively we look ominous, but we're still very vulnerable at the back. They need to invest in central defenders and a decent holding midfielder, otherwise just let the Chinese buy them out. A great win against Chelsea though, who looked pretty limp for the majority of the match. Liverpool will struggle against Man U, bceause JM will park the bus and play counter and we won't be able to play through them.
  7. This pretty much puts this debate to bed. Good post, RD.
  8. So who have Carlton, Richmond and Essendon landed recently? There seems to be this reoccurring need to stick the boots into our club from some of our own supporters. Let's stop slitting our wrists and acknowledge that we sit just as likely to lure someone as Carlton, Richmond or Essendon and probably even more likely. We have better facilities, development teams and a more exciting young list than either of those three clubs. If we're talking money though, that is also a factor and not a mixed message. Simply another factor why a player would jump ship. I'm not going to wallow in negativity because of where we've been. It's okay to say we've turned a corner off the field. We have and we're just as likely to lure players as anyone else, aside from Hawthorn, Geelong and the Bulldogs that stand ahead of us. That will change though.
  9. And you think their choice of destination is based on 'destination' factor of the clubs they've nominated? I think you'll find that cash has done the talking for Prestia and Marchbank. And as I've already mentioned about Hawthorn, yeah, they are a destination club, hence O'Meara's nomination.
  10. I don't think it's that ridiculous. I'd say we're just as likely to attract someone now as any other club other than Hawthorn, Geelong and maybe the Bulldogs.
  11. We play our cards close to our chest and I assure you we're a lot better regarded as a football club now than we were. I wouldn't say we're a destination club yet, but it's ridiculous to suggest Richmond or Carlton are either. * Richmond haven't been able to attract anyone of note despite making the 8 three years running. * Carlton's list is horrible and they're going nowhere fast. * The stench at Essendon is palpable and has clearly worked against them for close to 5 years. * Collingwood managed to convince Treloar on big dollars to make the switch, but I think players will second-guess going to Collingwood this off-season. I'd say Hawthorn and Geelong are the only two legitimate destination clubs, but won't be for much longer. If the Dogs can steal a flag this year or get to the Grand Final, I think you'll see them become a legitimate destination club over the off-season. I don't think we're that far behind many clubs and we're in front of quite a few.
  12. I think if Jesse stays now, fans will fall in love with him again. If he signs a 5 to 6 year deal, supporters can then invest in Jesse. I hope he does, as swapping clubs may bring him even more pressure and anxiety. Footy will hopefully take his mind off things. It also helps us that Freo had an ordinary year and there are question marks over whether Lyon can develop players. If you compare them with the talent we have, there's no way Jesse would go there under normal circumstances. If he stays at Melbourne, he gets the support of his mates in trying times, that he's formed close friendships with. If he moves to Freo, he has to start friendship building all over again. This, in a time where he needs mates by his side the most. Logically it would be the safer decision for his mental health to stay at Melbourne. Of course, when such emotion is involved in a decision being made, logic can go out the door. But I hope Jesse stays as I've no doubt his mates love him.
  13. Boring, DD. And in other news, there can be no flippancy about Hogan's re-signing. He re-signs and we're a massive, massive chance to win a flag or two in the next decade. Lose him and it's doubtful. Hawthorn when they've been Rougheadless just aren't the same team.
  14. I didn't see the game today, but did check his stats after seeing another "Bontempelli is a bonafide star" according to an article on the AFL website. He was pretty quiet last week. Sounds like he's 1 for 2.
  15. Short memory indeed. Carlton have one of the worst lists in the league. He's going there because he'll be guaranteed game time and SOS likes to chase a bunch of those guys he already has relationships with due to drafting them.
  16. That's not what you do dazzle and I hope you know that.
  17. If Melksham can cement a best 22 spot, all of a sudden we start to look pretty good. We've lacked pace and run for quite a while, but all of a sudden we'll have Melksham, Hunt, Stretch, Kent and Harmes that could play off half back. I like it.
  18. I'm not saying Flamingdees has made it up, but he/she is basically just as vague to be honest. "His intentions are anyone's guess". And nothing Flamingdees actually posted should be news to anyone. It's very interesting how a few posters are quite happy to applaud a post that's as vague as a violet, yet if that came out of GNF's account, he would have been heckled and decried. I don't mind Flamingdees' post. I hope he keeps posting, just like GNF, even though the former's post sounds a bit like a [censored]-take with "Hi fellow Dee's supporters", as if it had been written by Sam Newman. GNF's biggest fault was his [censored]-farting around with the cryptic clues a few years back. He doesn't do that anymore though.
  19. It also works to fire a rivalry that has been frankly half-dead for years. It'd be great to stoke those embers and have some real hatred between both clubs. I love it. Remember when we were pitied? There's still a bit of that around, but wait until they start the off to the snow rubbish again. We'll know people are worried then, just as they were under Daniher. I'd much rather be hated than pitied.
