  1. Knowing Luke, this is completely untrue. He may have learnt under Clarkson, but he's nothing like Clarkson and he's as cool as a cucumber. If anything he can come across as emotionless, rather than emotional. Roos, Clarkson and Luke are all very different people. Furthermore, it'll be interesting to see how Clarkson goes if Fagan heads north as is being suggested. Who will keep the angry little man on a leash? I'd also count Tyson in that group. And if he's not in our top 6 in 2-3 years and still playing as he is, that'll be one scary top 6.
  2. 7 years is realistic, but a 5 year plan seems realistic enough too. But let's say we started in 2014, by those calculations, we'd win one by 2020. I think it's more realistic that our window opens in earnest by 2018 and certainly by 2019.
  3. Things can turn quickly, BBO. The Bulldogs finished 14th two years ago. Similarly, Hawthorn were a 9 win 11th placed team in 2006 and 2 years later won their first flag under Clarkson. We're tracking on a similar trajectory to both teams. I expect finals in 2017 and top 4 in 2018. A flag is a real potential anywhere between 2018-2025 if we can hold this list together.
  4. His contested marking yesterday was one of the key factors that won it for them IMO. He continually gave them an out when the Sydney forwardline tried to lock it in. It was so important from a Bulldogs perspective that he took the pressure off there by taking multiple contested marks at half back. He also kicked 3 goals, which was pretty much the margin at the end of the day. But let's be honest here, Boyd's output was ordinary, even up until midway through the first quarter in the GF. The Hogan comparisons are ridiculous. Hogan has quite a bit more talent and runs on the board than one-game-wonder in Boyd.
  5. What do you think you'll post, ADC, when we start winning? I can't imagine.
  6. Didn't PJ announce earlier in the year that we've given up all our pokies?
  7. What is the feeling about Scott down there, Mach? Are they ready to go for someone else now? Or will they keep backing Scott? I feel like both Scott's will be out of the game in 2-3 years time.
  8. Oh, this is absolute rubbish. Further, the only team in the comp on the verge of a dynasty is GWS. And I'd much prefer a club that's been through such a drought win one.
  9. They might have a Chelsea-like run which could be considered a golden era for their club, but the lack of premierships doesn't give them that same aura. 2 flags to 12 from us. If we win a flag, we equal Hawthorn and remain only behind Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon. As we've seen with Hawthorn, people want to follow a big club. Only big clubs win as many as 13 flags. If we can have a sustained period of success sometime in the next ten years, I believe we can become a powerhouse club again with 50,000+ members.
  10. I think it went. Luke will harness this and Boyd will be a different player from now on. Ala, Hawkins. He won't ever be in the class of Hogan, but he will be a good player.
  11. I agree to an extent. But nothing less than the 8 next year is acceptable though. I think we can do it. It'll be interesting to see the new things Goodwin brings to the table in 2017.
  12. Luke's apprenticeship under Clarkson clearly did him wonders too. I reckon he's a different kind of coach though.
  13. My sentiments exactly. The thing about Melbourne is that we've won 12, so I doubt you'd see the same universal support like you saw for the Bulldogs. And I know I'm biased, but it'd be terrific for the game if Melbourne won another flag. It'd just mean another strong Melbourne club with a chance of becoming a powerhouse like Hawthorn have done. Then you'd have Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn and Melbourne. A big 6. Well, I can dream anyway. That day is going to be bloody sweet though.
  14. Clarko footy will be surpassed soon enough. Footy has phases and generations. There was Roos/Lyon footy. Then there was Bomber footy. Then there was Clarkson/Beveridge footy. What next? Let's hope Goodwin footy.
  15. He was brilliant in the second half
  16. A half back winning the Norm Smith. Step up, Jayden Hunt.
  17. Is this one of the greatest posts on Demonland? I think so. A minute later Boyd kicked his first. I also called the Boyd will kick the winning goal with my mates. Winner. The MFC in 2018!
  18. When was the last time a team won it from outside the top 4?
  19. Gee, anyone not take Mitchell after this performance? Gun.
  20. Good call, Adam. Good call. He bobs up and kicks the next one.
  21. Boyd still looks like a log, but it's in games like this that can turn careers. Just look at Tom Hawkins.
  22. If you can do it and get away with it, do it. Any advantage outside of AOD, do it.
