WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
RE: Petracca mid v forward - it's an interesting one. Although Petracca's ball use resulted in scoring assists more often than Oliver, Petracca still has a lot of work to do on his defensive game. IMV, Petracca is a liability at centre stoppages if we don't get first use. He's a lot better around the ground though where we can crowd the stoppage more and offset his defensive work with others. This is not to say Petracca can't improve, but Oliver is a far superior defensive player IMO. This is Petracca's next step. If he is going to be the most rounded player he can be, then getting better in these situations will make him the complete player. As for Oliver, he needs to back himself more out of stoppage and when he has an opportunity to kick a goal, kick through the ball like he is perfectly capable of doing. I find this frustrating because Petracca and Oliver both have areas of their game that they could improve, but only Oliver seems to be held to a different account. I'd be playing Petracca 60-40 forward-mid.

He will develop a lot quicker if he is not the number two man.

Every time ET posts in here I get excited, thinking he's about to post his next big scoop. But to no avail. I wonder what it would take to prize Devon Smith out of Essendon. Probably too much.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
We shall see. If he can kick 30+ I'll be happy. I'm hoping Brown can kick 40+. If qe can get more goals out of midfield, Fritsch and role players we'll be well on our way to the finals.

I meant that it'll take Jackson at least a few years to hold his spot as a genuine KPF.

You've got mail
He changed that to before the end of the year. There's no way.

Completely agree. Can see us holding our forward structure a lot better this way too. Keep one or two of Brown or Weideman or Petracca always deep and the other up at CHF. Gawn and Jackson as the exit kicks as you say.

I don't think so, because Dr Evil actually knows what he's talking about. :P GNF had a few too many strikes in the end.

As @Dr evil said, we approached him, unlikely as he's likely to retire or at the very least not have to move to Victoria.

A couple of days ago. The news has only been confirmed on Demonland in the last two days by @Dr evil.

Rumour only file ...
I'd hope a little later than a third rounder, but at the end of the day, that's probably fair. He only kicked 4 goals this year, so they couldn't ask for much more. I should say I'd prefer Higgins over Thomas, but we need 2-3 of these small guys on the cheap.

And what makes you think we're not targeting small forwards? This is nonsensical. List management isn't about targeting one player and that's it. We're trying to address numerous weaknesses. Tom McDonald is finished and has been since early 2019. Brown is a far superior player anyway. As for Jackson, we shouldn't be expecting a second year tall and a still developing Weideman to be the key pillars up forward next year. Maybe by 2023. In the meantime, we've secured Brown, we also secured Smith as another runner and are targeting small forwards as well.

Higgins has been mentioned on Demonland before. He'd be perfect.

Just block them mate.

Yeah, great. As for not being able to cope with those less enthused by things - I can cope, I'm just going to call you out on your endless drivel. It's pathetic.

2020 Grand Final
I enjoyed Borat 2 immensely. In fact, it was better than the first Borat. Hilarious. As a producer myself I admire how the hell he gets himself into these situations (and gets out of them). Saw the second half of the game. Martin's last goal was absolute freak.

You are becoming tiresome.

The Josh Thomas one has come up before. Interesting... Struggled this year, but his two previous seasons were solid. I wouldn't say no, he is getting on though.

Bolton a lot more gettable than Dursma or Hunter. Good luck prying their pick 5 out of Dodo's hands. I prefer Harmes to Parish anyway.

Polec's been mentioned multiply times, so the Doc isn't referring to him. Haha, you've opened a can of worms here, Doc.

THANK YOU FROM DEMONLAND
Thanks guys, brilliant. Glad I don't have to rely on Facebook for my thoughtful MFC reading and discussion. I'm confident we'll bounce back stronger next year and 2021 will be a bit of a ride too.

I'm really enjoying your posts mate, but just be a little careful what you do reveal on here as the journos do read Demonland. I've heard everything you've heard, but posting things like the Macrae stuff could actually jeopardise the club's hand a little bit. It's been mentioned a few times already on Demonland so it's probably fine now, but let's hope we can land him. Anyway, each to their own. ?

Yep, this. Completely agree. Great post. Smith and Polec could well have a revolutionary impact on our game style. A bit like Port's forward dynamism at the top of 2019 having brought in the players they did in the 2018 draft. Geelong changed their forward make up too leading into 2019 with similar results. If the likes of Oliver and Petracca are teaming with ball users like Smith and Polec, we'll look a very different team. We definitely need to exploit our midfield dominance more and hopefully Yze plays a big role here, but as for the rest of the field, my big concern is the forward half. As I've said previously, Brown will make Weideman a much better player. I also think we need to use Viney, Harmes and Petracca through the forward half like Richmond use Martin, Caddy, Prestia, Edwards etc. The other variable that recruiting Smith and Polec could bring is enabling Salem to become a more damaging player. It makes us more unpredictable from half back too. I'm liking where all this is going though. A backline of May, Lever, Tomlinson, Rivers, Salem, Smith, Hibberd is a good one. Lots of decent kickers in that mix too. We know we have midfield stars and in time, there's no reason why Petracca couldn't be as dominant in big games as Martin has become over the last few years. If we can keep this list together, improve the systems to maximise the talent we have and compliment all of this by improving the bottom 6-8 players with decent role players as you say, I think we can win the big one. And soon.

Board Changes
I've already explained this. Australia Post is funded by public money. The Federal Government does not recirculate its tax revenue. This would be inflationary. But yes, they are hopeless. They are also mostly franchisees and therefore essentially privatised.

Isaac Smith
Disagree. His kicking at times recently has been hit and miss, but when you score full marks for the kicking test at the draft combine you're a good kick. Not many players achieve that.
