  1. Potentially not, but I'd be looking at the Bulldogs and Collingwood who need picks and trying to flip in 2nd and 3rd picks into a late first rounder/early second rounder.
  2. Interesting. If we take him at face value, are we targeting a specific player or do we have a few that we'd be interested in? Maybe we don't think the guy we really want will get to 17, but we'll still get a good enough player in that range? My feeling is we're going to try and take two first rounders in this year, so we keep building that second wave and continually bring in elite talent. By now we know Taylor rarely misses, so having the opportunity to basically go Petty, Spargo, Jackson, Pickett, Rivers, Bowey, Laurie and two more is 9 players. You've then got significant elite talent under 22 going into 2022. This then complements the elite older talent, who themselves, with the exception of Max, May and I'd argue Brown, are all in their sweet spot for the best footy of their lives. I'm loving this list build. Cerra would have been amazing, but I reckon we'll target someone again like that next year or the year after. The guys that have a year to go on their contracts are going to be tougher to massage in terms of spreading their salaries across multiple years due to their ages, but hopefully playing in a premiership and their leaders taking less money, might mean they do too.
  3. Great thinking. Then flip picks 17 & 23 for a top 10 pick? ;)
  4. Carlton can still say they've won the most flags. Hope they never win another one again.
  5. I think it has become strategy since the 2019 off season and since it reaped such rewards in 2019 and 2020, it seemed likely we'd try it again this year.
  6. And Geelong were the best team in 2008 as well.
  7. So does Isaac.
  8. I wouldn't mind an Oliver back up in Tom Mitchell. 😉
  9. Good lad. So desperate not to include Dunstan that he forget the followers. Not to worry. Only a couple of AAs there.
  10. The point is we get a first rounder this year, so continue to build our list. A year in our system for a young, hopefully elite draftee. It's a no brainer. As for giving Taylor the best possible picks, that's what we're doing. 17 is infinitely better than a pick in the mid 30s...
  11. Also, his poor kicking is being overplayed. He won't improve our ball use, but he's no worse than our current mids.
  12. Haha, I see you've already backflipped on this within the one thread, but just letting you know I'll be watching your next best 22 to see if you've managed to put in the guy who makes no sense. 😉
  13. I've watched him enough. He'll be a good soldier when required.
  14. What do you mean no room to make up ground? I swear someone posts the equivalent of this every year. "I don't like this! What will we do next year?" We'll do what we do every year. We'll trade our future first. And then some Demonlander will come on here again and worry how we're going to get it done again the next year.
  15. Yeah, we're trying our usual move of trading out our future first rounder to get back into the current year's first round. I wonder if we'll try and include a player there or maybe the future first and this year's first pick.
  16. From the AFL site: Among the other clubs to come forward for the Suns' pick 19, which they were officially granted last week as part of the AFL's concession package, is Melbourne. The 2021 premiers' first pick for this year's draft is No.33 but the Demons are interested in grabbing the Suns' pick 19 in a deal that would require Melbourne to offload its future first-round pick. The Demons' have shown their strategy at moving up the draft board in recent years and last year traded their future-first selection to ensure they had two first-round picks at the 2020 intake, which saw them land premiership player Jake Bowey and Bailey Laurie. It would be a boon for the Demons to get up the board, with the Suns actively moving the selections due to their strong list position. Gold Coast has also already secured extra second, third and fourth-round picks for next year's draft as part of their day one deal with Collingwood.
  17. That's a pretty good one, St Kilda, but your list management has been pretty ordinary, so it might be a good idea to get some help from somewhere.
  18. I reckon we'll try and trade into the first round with our future first again. Unless JT thinks we might be able to land two or three good players in that 2nd and 3rd round.
  19. I feel like we've been here before. Melbourne list management team identify a handy acquisition and some Demonlanders [censored] the bed. We have a list management appreciation thread FFS. At what point do people trust the club? This is a smart piece of list management. If it doesn't eventuate then we look for other ways to add depth. If it does, we've got a hardened back up who can win the footy and keep competition for places strong.
  20. I wondered whether we might sniff around there. Despite our elite midfield talent, we need more midfield depth.
  21. How ordinary are the delisted senior players across the competition? I'm glad we won the flag and don't require a lot of pieces to go again. There's not a great deal on the market.
  22. You can watch these games on Kayo any time you want. But I am still get lured into watching some of it.
  23. Despite my mates [censored] on me for years about my football team, I'm taking the high road and not really talking footy. If they want to though, I'm happy to talk about it. Demonland is where I'm happy to talk all things MFC. I'll probably be lippy on game days next year though.
  24. Haha, I like your posts mate.
