Just did a quick read of the Aaron Davey thread over on the Bomberblitz forum. Nothing really to report. Its just the usual internet rumour echo-chamber. Quoting the same news articles. Confusion over whether he had re-signed or not. Nobody seems to know if a 4 year deal has been offered for certain. Referring to the same Big Footy rumblings. Of course, they want him. Although one clown seemed to think a Davey-Lovett swap would be fair compensation.

There is a guy on BigFooty, a Richmond supporter who says he spoke with 2 "well connected demon men" at the Goulburn Valley Grand Final on the weekend and they said that they believe we have lost the battle to keep Aaron. Essendon have offered him a 4 year deal with a salary he cant refuse and that we are not prepared to match it. Is this where you heard/read this or elsewhere?

No, they didnt say that it was a fact that JMac had flown in from Bali. They just referred to it as word going around or something along those lines.

On The Couch tonight: Healy said he believed that we had a deal done in principle with Davey for 3 years. Then mentioned that now the picture doesnt seem to be as clear and made a comment about the rumour that James McDonald has been flown in from Bali to speak with Aaron. Sheahan then said that he spoke with Davey at the Brownlow and got the impression that Aaron would be at Melbourne into the future. Both agreed it is crucial that we keep Aaron. Obviously. Then they speculated that we had a dip at getting Alwyn 2 years ago and maybe Essendon have decided to have a go back in our direction. Thats about it.

Judd is going nowhere. If Judd says he is leaving unless they boot Fev, they will just boot Fev. End of story.

No doubt 3AW Sports Today tonight will be primarily Grand Final coverage, but Im hoping Healy has some word from Whispers regarding Davey.

If youre referring to the rumour that James McDonald has flown back from Bali to Darwin in an effort with Bailey to convince Davey to stay at Melbourne.......I am going to guess its not getting much attention because it is BS. Just a thought.

Ive heard the SEN announcement is a sponsorship announcement of some sort. Not news about Davey. We'll find out soon I guess.

I think that was the best possible move for Carlton as far as Walker is concerned. He wouldnt get them much on the trade market. At this stage, he's prbably worth more to them to just stick with and hope his body holds up and he can make a contribution.

Not to pile on, but when you go to collect your bins in the morning after bin night, do you expect to find them filled with gold? Just wondering. And the obsession people seem to have have with collecting draft picks. People play way too much fantasy football I think.

I just cant see Aaron leaving. I cant comprehend it. The general consensus in the media seems to be that we are close to signing him, despite the rumours going around that he is entertaining the thought of leaving for Collingwood. That simply cant happen. It will completely and forever undermine my thin and precarious grasp on reality. If we thought we couldnt hate Collingwood any more than we already do........imagine. Hopefully the deal is done sometime over the next couple of days and we can get on with it.

Thats the first thing I thought of too 45h. Most likely it does. I wonder if this has anything to with there being no announcement from the Burgoyne camp yet concerning his preferred club. Probably not, but maybe. In one mind, Im sad to see Brock go. Couldnt help but like the guy. But at the same time I think we've made out very well. Pick 11 for McLean is a good deal in my mind. Was having a beer with my Carlton mate this afternoon and we discussed the then rumour. He said he would be disappointed if the Blues gave up pick 11 for McLean. The question we discussed was simply: If Brock McLean version 2009 (all things considered, injuries, pre-season etc) was in the upcoming draft, at what pick would he be drafted? Top 10? Im thinking no. Well, even more reason now to get excited about the draft. That is, if we dont offload the pick before then in a trade.
