  1. Just looked it up on the Foxtel guide and it says Fox Sports 501 at 4pm. At this stage I will be going to the game.
  2. Good night with the boys. Paying for it a little bit today. B) Our bets came through pretty well. We had an outlay of $780 between us and made a profit of about $380. Split 7 ways, $55 each. Not bad for a bit of fun. Lenny Hayes really came through for us. Dane Swan was a total bust all things considered. As for Sandy's interview, glad to know it wasnt just me. Strange interview. I am guessing that Channel 7 is televising the golf tournament that Tiger Woods is going to be playing in down here and Sandy was told to slip in a mention of it. Bit of inappropriate cross-promotion. Thats the only way I can explain it because the reference made no sense at all. And if that is the case, then its awful form by Channel 7. Its a great moment in Gablets career and they do that sort of rubbish. Also, what was with that intro and the kid being presented the Brownlow by Adam Cooney and then on stage he says something like "C'mon mums, let us stay up. Its the Brownlow." Who wrote that and who decided they would run with that as their intro to the Brownlow? Awful.
  3. Posted this on the 'Melbourne most votes' thread. Probably more appropriate here. Anyway.... Me and 6 mates have done our regular block of bets for our usual Brownlow night get together/[censored] up etc. A meeting of minds over the last 3 weeks, and heres what we've gone with: Winner- Dane Swan $50 at 5.50 Lenny Hayes $10 at 34.00 Place- Dane Swan $80 at 2.12 Lenny Hayes $30 at 9.25 Leigh Montagna $15 at 4.00 Adelaide Leader- B Vince $80 at 3.00 Brisbane Leader- J Brown $80 at 2.25 Essendon Leader- J Watson $85 at 1.80 Fremantle Leader- P Hasleby $10 at 5.50 Melbourne Leader- C Bruce $25 at 8.00 C Sylvia $25 at 10.00 North Leader- A Swallow $30 at 9.00 H McIntosh $30 at 11.00 Port Leader- D Cassisi $55 at 5.50 T Boak $15 at 15.00 Richmond Leader- R Tambling $15 at 11.00 D Jackson $5 at 17.00 StKilda Leader- L Montagna $15 at 3.50 L Hayes $40 at 9.00 Sydney Leader- B Kirk $30 at 26.00 WBulldogs Leader- B Johnson $25 at 12.00 West Coast Leader- M LeCras $30 at 3.75
  4. I think Bruce and Sylvia are the value at those odds. Me and 6 mates have done our regular block of bets for our usual Brownlow night get together/[censored] up etc. A meeting of minds over the last 3 weeks, and heres what we've gone with: Winner- Dane Swan $50 at 5.50 Lenny Hayes $10 at 34.00 Place- Dane Swan $80 at 2.12 Lenny Hayes $30 at 9.25 Leigh Montagna $15 at 4.00 Adelaide Leader- B Vince $80 at 3.00 Brisbane Leader- J Brown $80 at 2.25 Essendon Leader- J Watson $85 at 1.80 Fremantle Leader- P Hasleby $10 at 5.50 Melbourne Leader- C Bruce $25 at 8.00 C Sylvia $25 at 10.00 North Leader- A Swallow $30 at 9.00 H McIntosh $30 at 11.00 Port Leader- D Cassisi $55 at 5.50 T Boak $15 at 15.00 Richmond Leader- R Tambling $15 at 11.00 D Jackson $5 at 17.00 StKilda Leader- L Montagna $15 at 3.50 L Hayes $40 at 9.00 Sydney Leader- B Kirk $30 at 26.00 WBulldogs Leader- B Johnson $25 at 12.00 West Coast Leader- M LeCras $30 at 3.75
  5. Yeah, today was supposed to be the day. Looks like it isnt going to be. Unlikely at least. Which goies to show just how little the so-called media 'insiders' know about what is actually going on.
  6. Thats about right. Somebody on the net should actually keep a running total. I'll be keeping an eye on Cameron Schwabs Twitter page tomorrow. Thats all I know.
  7. Thought he said to Lyon that it was doubtful for Melbourne. Either way, like you say, its nothing we dont already know. Just Hutchie speculating.
  8. Footy Classified tonight. Hutchie believes Burgoyne will choose Hawthorn, with Essendon in with a definite chance. Says it is unlikely to be Melbourne. If there is some truth to it, its not really surprising. Who knows. I guess we'll find out Monday.
  9. F***ing A man. What I like about Morabito is that he's got a bit of toe. You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me. Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon, with nail polish.
  10. Footy Classified tonight. Hutchie said there was no such offer made to Lake by Melbourne. Caro believes that Lake will sign to stay with the Dogs.
  11. Footy Classified tonight. Hutchie says Burgoyne has walked, is done with Port and has a preference for a yet to be named club. He says the clubs in the mix are Melbourne, Hawthorn and Essendon. Caro added Collingwood are into it as well. Edit - At the end of FC, they did the paper round, didnt catch what paper it was, but one paper is reporting that Burgoyne is seeking $2million over 4 years.
  12. I stopped reading at "Some twit over on Big Footy is saying...."
  13. I going to guess theyre referring to Clinton Grybas. As for Maher, easily one of biggest wankers in the media. Utter sycophant.
  14. There should be some highlights of this game up on Youtube after its played. Youd think so at least. What do you all reckon the over/under is on Jako's weight these days? AFL Tables has his playing weight at 98kgs. Could be anything these days. Will be good fun to see him playing again.

    ox

Ox was an awesome young talent when he first came to the club. Who knows what he could have been if not for those injuries. His knee injuries have scarred me as a Melbourne supporter. Ever since Schwarter, every time a fresh new talent comes on the scene, I find myself with this worry about them doing a knee. Its just all a part of my Mebourne supporter neurosis.
  16. LOL. Love the shirts 45h. I dont really have many keepsakes. I have a few old worn and weay football jumpers and scarves that Ive kept over the years. Also have a few signed photos of me as a kid with various Melbourne players. Got one with Barassi, one with Robbie Flower, one with Peter Moore, one with Gerard Healy, one with Todd Viney too. Probably my most treasured football item is a photo of me at the footy as a 3 year old sitting next to my Dad. This was shortly before he became ill. He's got his Fitzroy jumper on and I have a Fitzroy scarfe on. The explaination is that when I was a little kid me and my dad and mum would one week go see Melbourne play for my mum and the next week we'd go watch Fitzroy for my dad. So up until about the age of 6, I went for both teams.
  17. Im guessing its because very few of us actually saw Ron play.
  18. The opportunity to get a player like Jnr Burger is very tempting. A few years ago, he was in my top 5 favourite non-Melbourne players going around. My only concern is with his knee. But I would expect the club to do their homework on this and eveluate his future potential accordingly. If we do get him, then we should have confidence in the decision that club has made. I dont expect the club to take too much of a gamble. He turns 27 in October. So I dont have great concerns with his age. If his knee if fine, he could possibly play another 5 years, 4 years probably more likely. That to me makes him a worthwhile prospect. The only other issue is how much he would eat into our salary cap. If we can get him for a reasonable price, then fine. If another club wants to outbid us, than thats fine too.
  19. Two Sheds mate, got to say that was really touching. All I can do is wish you all the best. Try to keep positive. You never know how these things can turn out. My thoughts are with you mate. Stay strong.
  20. Ah shoot. How could I forget Davey??!! *Hangs head in shame*
  21. Yeah, he was one that I had in the team originally Rhino. I lost him in the shuffle. Looking over the team again I could easily find a spot for him. He deserves a spot if only for his superb display in his last game. Classic Crosswell.
  22. My wife agrees 45h, she loves Wheels, although she also likes a bit of Brad Miller action. Dixie Marshall??
  23. I started going to Melbourne games in the late 70s when I was very young. I dont really remember players before 1980. I decided to buck the thread and instead of putting together my 'Best 25' team, I have put together a "Cult Figure/Fan Favourite Best 25' from 1980 til 2009. Probably missed a few, but here's the team I came up with. B: Matthew Whelan, Danny Hughes, Brett Lovett HB: Rod Grinter, Jamie Duursma, Shane Zantuck C: Martin Pike, Brian WIlson, Russell Richards HF: David Schwarz, Earl Spalding, Liam Jurrah F: Russell Roberston, Allen Jakovich, Jeff Farmer R: Jim Stynes, James McDonald, Chris Connolly INT: Nathan Brown, Clint Bizzell, Austin Wonaeamirri, Mark Jackson EMG: Steve ODwyer, Peter Keenan, Adrian Battiston
  24. The more I think about it, the more I like it. So long as we dont overpay him, then I think it could be a great move by the club. Sure, he's 28 next year. But he has missed just 2 of a possible 116 games since 2004. I can see him playing for another 5 years. I have my doubts as to whether it will actually happen. But if we get the chance to pinch him in the PSD, I can only see the upside.
  25. Well one of my aunties dyes her hair red. Not sure why, but for as long as I can remember, she's always had a red dye job. We've coined the term 'Rangariginie.' She doesnt think its funny. Jetta looks very good. Would love to see him in a Melbourne jumper. Dont think we will see that though. Will be interesting to see where he lands.
