It was a good contest but I'm worried about our inabiliry to put them away. They seemed to be running on never ending energy. We seemed stuff. Unless we get momentum early and pummel teams, we just don't do well in tight contests. Would love to know Goodwin's coaching record W:L for under 10 points. We just never look like winning these games.

Steal of the century if Melbourne wins this

Nothing short of pathetic. Of Goodwin's 6.5 seasons as coach we've put up with 4 seasons of just average football that gets beaten as soon as the pressure is brought around the ball. Freo are a ruckman down, their spuds are running rings around us. It is a common narrative against us. Voss v Goodwin next week is battle of No Game Plan From Planet B Coaches.

Soft? We've not been great but this is a hard contest.

Longmuir and Lyon are ugly coaches. It's putrid football to watch. Neither team will win a flag playing oppressive football. The strategy is to minimise the deficit and steal a win. Onviously you do everything you can to win but it's terrible for the game. Thankfully given how poorly we are playing our defensive structure is tight and back to being the best part of our game.

his contests led to 2 goals. couldn't ask for more from a forward beyond kicking goals.

JVR's goal. Knew he wouldn't mark it but got it to ground.

he's turned it over from 5 of his 6 kicks.

freo are way slicker and cleaner atm. one again out back half is the saviour.

he's contesting but hasn't won much.... yet.

Surely we lead the league in goals from free kick passages?

Freo look faster, cleaner, way more structured.

i got nothing against the name change, but the different rendition is awful. Such a buzz kill.

This game has "Spanked by an interstate team at the MCG" stank about it.

The only way Collingwood loses this year is if they're having an off day and the opposition is switched on. They're in second gear here and comfortably beating Carlton. I can handle losing to Collingwood. But losing to Freo and Carlton would be disastrous.
