Collingwood showing what a genuine contender should do against a bottom 10 team. We should do similar against GWS tomorrow.

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs GWS
It's a mistake dropping him. Happy to be proven wrong but Brown can barely turn at pace and will get smoked by decent defenders. You think Brown is going to do better on Moore in a final than JVR would? Not against him having a spell but I am just lost that people think Brown is a long term replacement for us. JVR needs to play finals. We're going to miss out on key development for this kid while we try to recapture 2021's form by playing a Brown who since the GF has barely lasted on two feet for more than a month. Love the guy and if he helps us achieve glory again I'll take the L with this post but I hope the plan is to get JVR back for finals. As for Tomlinson the obvious change for me was Tomlinson for Hibberd, Bowey for Jordan. This again just reeks of trying to recapture 2021 form and it just looks desperate

I just think we're missing some pieces. There isn't a connection there and hasn't been since Rouns 11 2022. Fritsch is a good target but not a key forward. There's a reason why JVR is playing an extended role and not going back to the VFL. He is our long term forward. People calling for him to be rested for Brown or Schache are crazy. Finishing top 4 would be a huge win for this squad. 5th or 6th and a Semi Final appearance is imo a win also. End the season strong, land some good youth in the draft, maybe get a steal from WC as they dump players. 1-2 more years and we become one of the most experienced teams in the competition. Yes we can win the flag but the way we lose is a concern and yes even though we are *in* games until the end we never really look like winning those games. Port and Geelong, you could just see it going the way it did. We play one good quarter and expect to run away with it against good teams. Never looked like losing against Collingwood and yet could easily have lost if the Pies get the last clearance. Never a chance against Brisbane. Freo looked a step above. Can't understate our defensive structure but we have been saved by it for 12 months now. With our forward inefficiencies if we didn't have a half decent backline we'd be getting belted by 10 goals every game because we can't score.

What They Are Saying in Giant Land
This is a huge danger game for us. They have pace and as Geelong showed, if you can cause the turnover in our F50 enough times, we're fickle. $3.50 odds for them is a very good bet.

This comment is basically 2022 all over again. It ain't happening. We don't just magically flick the switch and come good from this: https://twitter.com/JTGiuliano/status/1673949252500979718?t=4TDTHc-wd7gf4NCB9FWV1Q&s=19 People need to realise the wheels are closer to falling off than tightening up.

Are we banged up again?
Kozzie looked amazing in Round 1. Looked okay when he came back from suspension. Goodwin and his coaching staff seem to always "Goodwin'd" the forward craft out of our forwards. Fritsch seems like the only true natural forward. Just organically suits the position. Even Hogan seemed to play progressively *less* like a forward towards the end of his time with us. Goodwin badly needs to restart his coaching philosophy. He's really killing our KO punch atm. Our entire plan seems built around: 1. Kick to contest 2. Hope for stoppage 3. Hope for immaculate clearance 4. Hope we have numbers forward to kick a goal That's it. Unless we get the perfect clearance we can scrum together enough chains to score enough. Teams basically stifle this and get numbers behind the ball. It's so easy. You can smell JVR is so close to just annihilating a game one day but at the same time I can't see it happening because the game plan just doesn't suit that happening.

NON-MFC: Rd 15 2023
If I see one more Melbourne supporter crying a river for West Coast I'm going to puke. It's really no wonder we're perceived as such a weak club when a team whose supporters have ripped on us for decades is suddenly being cuddled and nurtured by our own supporters. It's their once-in-every-three-decades slump at the bottom. They'll survive. [censored] West Coast.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
Goodwin is turning into Daniher 2.0 the way he plays favourites. We're 15-13 since round 10 last season, which is equivalent to a 12-10 season. We're quite literally an 8th-12th placed team over the past 12 months. That is a large enough data set to try something new. He is playing favourites with players who are consistent liabilities. Langdon, Spargo, Pickett, ANB are turning into the Yze, Bruce and Davey of the current squad, legacy players from a good era that are just not that good anymore. We are hanging onto the 2021 flag run for dear life. It's not happening again with this squad.

Melbourne 2021 Geelong 2022 Potentially Port 2023 All quick burst scoring with just sheer brute speed and perfection in the middle. Teams get spooked and you're behind before you even realise it's 10 goals difference. We had our moment in 2021. The days of Richmond, Hawthorn, Brisbane type flags are over (for now).

Goodwin is the equivalent of a downhill skiing coach. He needs all cylinders firing and the opposition to be spooked. We lose games the same way every bloody time and we play at this [censored] every [censored] year. We don't play to respect the opposition, we are so obsessed with *our* way and we just hope we'll find a breakthrough. Good coaches consistently know how to defend against it. The losses look the same every damn time.
