  1. Can't play them both in the back-half. I would play Hunt from the wing... not in defence, but he can push back, to bring the ball thru. Frost could play R/R. 2nd Ruck, at a pinch, if we had an injured Gawn. His speed and size around the packs would at least be interesting. Even if he just hand-balled the thing out of the pack. Also, I would not mind if the club took a leaf out of Ports books, and played one of our half-forwards, who needs to work harder off the back-flank, some times. He needs to become more accountable, and a stronger work-ethic.
  2. I suspect that some had surgeries that could have waited... It was surprised for instance, that they scheduled both Oli's shoulders at the one time, 2018 preseason. The number of scheduled end of 2018 season surgeries, made me think at end of 2018, that we were readying ourselves for the next 3 Years. So I'm suggesting, that too many supporters are only looking at 2019 season, in isolation, instead of a window of 3+ Years. In this mindset, impatience and despair can become problems for the club/team... negativeness/fear of loss, is an infectious disease, that only devours our confidence.
  3. That's a good point.
  4. Well, this might have been "the recession we Had to Have"... sorry wrong game. The kick in the pants we "had to have"... to get our players and supporters minds, back at ground level. Ground Zero. Lets hope we are firmly grounded now after that, and the skipper copping a clip over the nude nut into the bargain. Lucky it was from a powder-puff. Now we face some real heavy-weight teams coming up... who are also angry at us. We need, more run and pace in the line-up... run with mojo ! no powder puffs please.
  5. Wow, early 'Jd '.
  6. Yep, agreed. the new rules are quite different to the look of the game and hinders our closing down of space, which we had only just learnt to do... so the AFL continue shuffling the deck. The comp is getting more even as the other also-rans start to mature... so this will be a very even season, as there is no standout power teams. But pacy sides will be able to open up games by the look of things atmo. Younger players will play earlier than the recent past... with the open spaced game. So we might be able to play a chandler or other.
  7. I believe our preseason is based on going through a long season into September. In other words our older players should be going into the start of season just a tad underdone, and find match fitness as they build into the season, otherwise they could be burnt out in Spring. Our younger players should be fitter than Jones and Co, but many had operations to work through. So they will also be finding match fitness during the season. This in turn puts pressure on our forwards and our defenders. We need gut runners atmo, and the loss of JKH', imo is hurting, at the moment. The only others I can see realistically, to help with spread and some speed, are Jordan and Lockhart.
  8. We are still in transition List wise, even while making finals games. And we have been making the right list decisions, in past few years. watta hoges etc. Our old stalwart leaders, are getting older, and our younger brigade leaders now in the mid 20's, are hardening up... TMc etc.Its still premature to say Jones isn't best 22... he's ahead of stretch. Who else at this stage from Casey, removes Jones from the 22 ?
  9. I posted for the crowd tipping. I think Jibroni was closest. Just checked, its our home game against the bummers. Yeah we'll need it, a big crowd would be a great Friday-Night out.
  10. Official crowd: 38,866 at the MCG https://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2019/1/melb-v-port
  11. Nope. 'TBA'... not 'TBC' . Joel Smith (groin) – TBA * To be announced. Aaron vandenBerg (foot) – TBA *... 2 weeks to unload him, then, IF he settles down, another 2 weeks or more to reload him, before he plays a limited time game at Casey ... count it as 6 weeks.
  12. I don't know if hes fit, has he trained the past couple of weeks, since the, what, groin ? I'd like to see KK after a run with Casey. And I'd prefer to blood KK into the team, when we have some good form. So we don't throw him in the deep end, new club 'n' all. May is an obvious in. I'd like Petty in as well... together with Lewis, to General our defense, and knit it together. Our back-line atmo, is in transition... as is the team, with the rule changes. We need Lewis's experienced mind, at times like this. Petty might be ready, surely as ready as Omc is. Frosts upside is better than OMC's... when we have May in the side. May makes OMc expendable.
  13. May and Petty to come in for OMc and Frost. I'd like Keilty to come in, to chopout Maxy, and can play fore and aft... or from the pine. Not sure who would be the out for Keilty ? TMc could push up around the wing, if necessary. I don't want Weide out of the side.
  14. 6.6.6. imo, suits Ports typical outside game-style. ... and hurts our recent game style, of pressing and shutting down ball movement. I'm not surprised we were sucking in the breaths.
  15. The 6.6.6. rule should help jHunt, and maybe Frost... and should suit stretch.
  16. Pace, midfield speed. Teams are going for more leg speed with the new rules, by the looks of it. Lew is slow. He'll be back for the cats, I think. We'll need his General ability .
  17. Didn't hit the chin daisy... it hit his Adams-apple. It missed the chin, because the Lions player raised his chin up. If you can get some decent video of it, then you will see more clearly. May should not be lambasted for another Head contact... when it didn't happen. But he was foolish and arrogant in his approach to the block. He has a thirst to hurt, which is a good footy tool to have, but does need to be rounded off a little bit.
  18. May did Not make contact to the head !
  19. I reckon May was in the AFL's gun sights.
  20. I am on his side stretch. I want him to succeed. But as others are saying, he hasn't set the AFL world on fire, and neither has Tracca... who I also want to succeed. Tracca needs a fire lit under him... and Roosy roasted him, because of his ways. He needs it again. Stretch I don't think a 'fire', but maybe a shot over the bow. And my post has absolutely Nothing to do with Stretch's trainings methods nor his fitness, as you alluded to. The problem is with your own 'perception', of what I wrote/write. Maybe you should get of the turps before posting. RM.
  21. If it's affecting his weight Re nutrition intake, they may not play him... if he's lost weight, it's probably pointless to play him, and could set him back further.
  22. 33,666_
  23. Desire in the AFL game... to go even harder than he has done, more desperation, throwing caution to the wind, and just go for it. Some kids are just too cautious. I don't know IF Stretch is one of these, But.
