  1. You are amazing aren't you..... Apart from Freo in Round 22, I give us a good shot in all other matches. We'll win at least 6 I'd of thought, so zero chance of a priority pick.
  2. Good point! Reckon we could. Clark salary now free, Dawes only has 1 year on his conract left, I'd assume Trenners will get a reduced 1 year deal. Trade Watts, Howe & Grimes out and I'd expect us to have a fair bit of cash available.
  3. Offer Danger 7 million over 6 years & Leunberger 2.5 million over 4 years. Would be a good start to the trade period!
  4. FB: Dunn, Frost, Jetta HB: Garland, T. McDonald, Lumumba C: Tyson, Vince, Viney HF: Vandenberg, Hogan, Kent FF: Howe, Pedersen, Garlett FOLL: Jamar, Cross, N. Jones INT: Brayshaw, Salem, Trengove SUB: Petracca EMERG: Dawes (cover for Hogan, Howe & Garland), Gawn (cover for Jamar, Pedersen, McDonald, Frost & Dunn), Grimes (everyone else) Dangerfield & Leunberger as free agents at years end would make that 22 look a lot better. Maybe add Gorringe through a trade also and throw in Hardingham as a late draft pick assuming he avoids a drug ban and we trade out Howe & Watts.
  5. IN: Hogan, Viney, Jetta, Jamar, Watts, Harmes OUT: Dawes, Howe, Spencer, M. Jones, Stretch, Salem (inj) FB: Garland, Dunn, Jetta HB: Lumumba, T. McDonald, Toumpas C: Harmes, Vince, Tyson HF: Vandenberg, Hogan, Bail FF: Watts, Pedersen, Garlett FOLL: Jamar, Cross, N. Jones INT: Grimes, Michie, Viney SUB: Brayshaw EMERG: Gawn, Riley, Stretch I hope they stick the course with Toumpas. Warrants being dropped, but really think he needs to be given that solid month at it. Brayshaw starting to look a little tired, so maybe a role as the sub would suit. Stretch needs a bit more time as t Casey, he's been given some tough opponents first up. Would bring Jamar in at least for the next two weeks as we know what we'll get, possibly look to give Gawn a run as number 1 ruck from Queens birthday onwards. Also time to give Harmes a go. Had solid VFL form and he's a good size with pace. Really hope Hogan, Jetta and Viney are fit...
  6. I keep hearing about this late trade of Howe to GWS last year. What was the alleged deal?
  7. Or they were looking to let it go through to the keeper, only to see the ball swing back in and rattle the stumps!
  8. Probably because unlike the other muppets on that show, he's played an nternational Olympic sport. He knows what athletes have to adhere to and what their responsabilities are rather then just blaming someone else.
  9. Well Vince not charged & Dawes should be available according to Roos. So all that into consideration I'd have to say. IN: Jetta, Viney OUT: Kennedy-Harris, Stretch FB: Pedersen, Dunn, Jetta HB: Garland, McDonald, Lumumba C: Watts, Vince, Tyson HF: Vandenberg, Hogan, Toumpas FF: Howe, Dawes, Garlett FOLL: Spencer, Cross, N. Jones INT: Brayshaw, Salem, Viney SUB: Newton EMERG: Gawn, Grimes, Stretch JKH to have a spell at Casey, he was pretty ordinary against the Swans. Stretch didn't do anything wrong, but was good for him to have a taste. Still lacking the tank for full games. Pedersen to play back on Ceglar and to go into the ruck when Spencer needs a rest. Howe to go forward given we'll have an extra tall in defence. Watts to play on a wing and follow Isaac Smith around. Will be a good lesson on gut running. Gawn standbye for Dawes. Grimes standbye for Jetta Stretch standbye for Tyson just because of the extra run he provides, otherwise I'd of said Michie.
  10. I know it's very early, but it's already apparent that we're lacking in certain areas. Most notably in my opinion the ruck, midfield depth, run from half back and spread in general. So i thought i'd start this thread to list certain targets for areas i think need to be addressed. RUCK Daniel Gorringe: Down the pecking order at GC who have internal issues. Wanted out last year but was shafted by Port and the Crows now have Jacobs and Lowden. Was an early draft pick and could come on like Longer has at the Saints. Cost - Possibly something like Toumpas to Crows with their 2nd round pick to GC? Matthew Leunberger: Dominant ruckman when fit but is injury plauged. Fallen behind Martin as 1st choice ruckman with Lions and may seek more a new home. Cost - Free agent so cost is zero. Orig from WA so reckon Freo may be in the market for him also with Sandilands not likely to go on forever. Will Minson: Good aggressive ruckman who is being edged out by Beveridge looking to push Cordy's development. Would only be a stop gap solution for about 2 years max while we develop someone else, but could be useful. Cost - Is contracted so not sure what we'd have to give up? Bulldogs lack talls at both ends so maybe Fitz or Pedo with a late pick? Daniel Currie: Dominant state league ruckman who is on North's list and starved of opportunities behind Goldstein and Daw. Could well be worth a look. Cost - Given the lack of games North have given him, they'd be hard pressed to ask anything more then a 4th round pick. MIDFIELDER: Dylan Shiel/Adam Treloar: Obviously there's rumors about these two leaving GWS and would live either one. Both hard at it and spread really well which we need. Would favour Shiel slightly due to his ability to break the lines, but would be wrapt with either. Cost - Probably something like Howe & our 1st round pick, or possibly given their lack of ruck depth after Mummy we could give them Gawn and our first two picks with a later pick coming back. James Aish: Looks certain to leave and not sure where we sit in the race for his services. Not a line breaker, but certainly runs hard and will help with our spread. We have a lot of SA kids on the list who would have played with him, so they need to get in his ear. Cost - Our 1st round pick should do it. Ben Kennedy Very talented fast midfielder/forward who has fallen behind some other good kids that Collingwood are putting together. Is small, but can break the lines and use it well. Same as Aish is a SA kid so hopefully that could help? Cost - Being Collingwood who knows? Maybe if we swap our 1st & 2nd round picks with theirs that could do it? Or maybe Watts and our 2nd round pick? Dion Prestia Given Gold Coasts issues it wont hurt asking the question as unlikely as it would be. Brilliant young midfielder who runs hard and will help with spread. Cost - Given the issues with some of their players they may be after small forwards. Our 1st round pick & Kennedy-Harris could do it. Andrew Gaff Question marks over his ability to deal with a tag, but runs hard and very good on the outside which we need. Cost - 1st round pick and maybe Fitz given their neef for more tall defenders. RUNNING HALF BACKS: Zak Jones Think we made noise in the offseason gone that we'd chase him. Again runs hard and is hard at it. Not sure on what his disposal is like? Cost - Hard to say? Maybe Grimes and our 2nd round pick? Nathan Wright Similar to Zak Jones and can't get a consistant run with Saints. Disposal not brilliant, but works hard and runs fast. Cost - 3rd or 2nd round pick max! Interesred to hear what/who others think we should look at?
  11. Absolutely! As long as he wants to i'd think he's a lock! Will be good, should see him through to 250 AFL games and 50 club games.
  12. OUT: Vince (likely susp), Kennedy-Harris (was poor), Pedersen (team balance) IN: Viney, Jetta, Fitzptrick I know Fitzpatrick was poo for Casey this week, but his form before that has been good. We need another tall defender down back to mind Ceglar and help out in the ruck. This would allow McDonald to take Roughead, Dunn to Gunston, Garland on Breust and Howe to go forward. Thought Watts was ok as the sub, so he can do it again for another week. FB: Fitzpatrick, Dunn, Jetta HB: Garland, McDonald, Lumumba C: Toumpas, Cross, Viney HF: Vandenberg, Hogan, Stretch FF: Howe, Dawes, Garlett FOLL: Spencer, Tyson, N. Jones INT: Brayshaw, Newton, Salem SUB: Watts EMERG: Bail, Michie, Pedersen Injury questions over Dawes and Tyson so would have Pedersen and Michie on standbye for them. Bail on stanbye in case Jetta doesn't get up from his concusion.
  13. Given they're all on an AFL list and most of them have played matches at AFL level then I beg to differ. You may mean they're not of AFL standard???
  14. Well I expect Bail, Riley, McKenzie & Jamar are a lock to be gone at years end. King will be on thin ice also. Hunt as long as he shows something then he'll get a new contract. Fitzpatrick, Pedersen & White all on knife's edge. Likely one year deals at this stage I'd expect. Harmes I reckon will be elevated. Gawn I expect to get a new deal given I think Jamar will be gone. Watts, Grimes & Toumpas likely trade bait. Having said all that, there's still 18 weeks of the season remaining, so things can change fast. Heading into the final match of 2013 I was certain Jetta was a dead man walking!
  15. Experienced ruckman will be one of the main priorities this offseason. Daniel Gorringe well worth a punt IMO. Competative like Spencer, but with much better skills and down the pecking order at Gold Coast.
  16. Maybe if he could get named in the 22 a bit more, then the spelling of his named would be ingrained in my memory better! ☺Edit: smile.
  17. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/player-profile/rohan-bail You're right about Bail. Can't find anything confirming Reilly's contract length.
  18. Matt Jones makes it the fab 4! Voss, Lappin, Black & Aker eat your heart out!
  19. Are we sure that Bail & Reilly are only contracted till the end of this year? I had a bad feeling they were both contratced till the end of 2016....
  20. Given the news on Jetta I can see only one change. IN: Dawes OUT: McKenzie I'd actually like to see them play Watts in the midfield this week. Start him on a wing, and after each centre bounce get him to play a run with role on Kennedy. May actually help take him to the ball maybe and get involved? If Jetta was fit then I'd of had Watts making way, but we just don't have the depth, especially players with pace to not play Watts. At least for this week anyway.
  21. In November 2012 Todd Viney rated Toumpas ahead of Wines. He got it wrong in hindsight. There's your answer. Lets move on!
  22. So Todd Viney was a great player! Favourite memory would have to be his first half dozen games of the 98' season where he seemed to win every clearance he was involved in!
