  1. Assuming Gus pulls up ok & Lumumba recovers from his mystery injury, I'd make 3 changes for next week. IN: Fitzpatrick, Kennedy-Harris, Lumumba OUT: Bail, M. Jones, Spencer FB: Dunn, T. McDonald, Jetta HB: Garland, Fitzpatrick, Cross C: Lumumba, N. Jones, Tyson HF: Brayshaw, Dawes, Kennedy-Harris FF: Howe, Hogan, Garlett FOLL: Gawn, Vince, Viney INT: Neal-Bullen, Toumpas, Watts SUB: Stretch EMERG: Harmes, Newton, Spencer Harmes to debut if either Gus or Lumumba aren't right. Newton stand-by for the other.
  2. Should have left Spencer out and played Fitz back on Sinclair allowing him to go into the ruck when Sinclair did same. Was amazed we played Hogan, Dawes & Spencer up in Darwin....
  3. Every chance. Hopefully they have a very light week and come out breathing fire against Essendrun.
  4. Light week on the track this week. Hopefully Brayshaw comes up. JKH to come in along with Harmes. We rebound and win our first game following a Darwin match next week. Nothing more to be said about tonight.
  5. Haha, my bad. In my defence the D and S are very close together. Agreed. A player well worth keeping faith in. Not a heap. 10% tops in the centre. But he took pretty much all ruck contests inside forward 50 allowing Jamar to stay a kick behind play. They are one of the great things about Casey Fields. Didn't grab one today myself, but the beers sure went down nicely!
  6. Another day 200 meters from home at one of the coldest places on earth and here's my breakdown. McKenzie: Thought he was pretty decent today. Again, a few typical McKenzie disposals that hurt us, but he competed really well and was hard at it. Kicked a nice goal in the 2nd term and was involved in a few chains of posessions that resulted in goals for us. Newton: Suprised he wasn't named in the best, as I thought this was the best game I've seen him play. Didn't get huge numbers, but he used it well and kicked two really class goals. Looked a notch above, but he needs to show the form of todat at AFL level next time he gets his chance. Played midfield/half forward. Michie: Opposite to Newton in a way. Not saying he didn't play well, but I was suprised he was named in the best as he didn't seem to stand out today as much as I've seen him do so on other days. I normally see him as a link player, creating run and carry through the midfield, but he seemed to have more of an inside role this week, which is probably why he didn't stand out to me. But for the people that matter, he obviously played his role. O. McDonald: Best game I've seen from the kid so far. Took some nice marks, spoilt especially well and used it equally as well coming out of the back half. Kept his feet in the one on one contests also which is important. He seemed to have a height/weight advantage on his opponent, but you can only beat the player your put up against. A very encouraging display today. Hunt: First time I've really had an opportunity to watch him play closely and for most of the first half he seemed invisible. Then the stroke before half time he took a mark running back with the flight of the ball and converted and important kick after the siren and his confidence seemed to sky rocket from there. Showed some of his pace and tackling ability after half time and got on a chain of handballs t kick his second and followed it up with a nice contested grab for his 3rd shortly after, Could have kicked 4 but for missing a soda on the final siren. But given his injuries, he showed today he's worth a 1 year extension at seasons end in my book, Jamar: Very good game in the ruck. Slaughtered Simpson not only in the hit outs but also around the ground. Have no doubt that another team will pick him up at seasons end for ruck depth. Sydney, GWS & Collingwood would all be in the mix for mine. White: Musn't have played as I never sighted him. Harmes: This kid will go close to winning Casey's B&F in my opinion. Contested ball winner who spreads and is very strong in the air also. Did his best Jeremy Howe impression in the final term, but just couldn't hold on. Best on ground for mine and I hope he's promoted off the rookie list at years end. Because if he isn't, I have no doubt another team will grab him and we could end up with egg on our face as a result. Terlich: At times he was very good, at other times he was worse then hopeless. That is the problem that is Sean Terlich. He showed really nice run and kicking into spce at times and his defensive running was pretty good. On multiple occasions though he kicked it either out on the full or directly to Geelong. It's hard to push your case for promotion to the seniors with those sorts of performances. King: Similar to Hunt, very quiet early, but worked his way into the game well to finish with a reasonable performance despite zero goals. Probably should have kicked at least 2, in the end kicked 0.4 with one into the man on the mark. His ruck work was impressive during the periods he competed in there, so he's certainly got tools to work with. He still needs to improve his body work. Very dangerous when he gets a chance to run and jump at it. In a body on body contest though, he's far less threatening. Fitzpatrick: Great game down back. He just reads it so well down there which is amazing for a guy who's looked totally lost at times in his first 5 years forward. Took plenty of marks, made plenty of spoils, and he ran off his opponent with ease. If we don't keep him at seasons end, he's at least showing enough to make sure we should get something at least reasonable in a trade exchange.
  7. Since that comment the track suits off and he's back on the ground. Just ignore me.
  8. Mitch Gent finished for the day. Got the track suit on the bench.
  9. Better quarter with Casey seemingly safe, 35 points up at 3/4 time 11.6.72 to 5.7.37. Harmes playing himself into a senior list position for 2016!
  10. Geelong all over Casey that quarter. Thankfuly we kicked straight! Harmes and Jamar our best for mine. Also ejoyed Oscar's work and although he hasn't had a heap of it, Newton's looked a class above.
  11. Anyone notice that two sons of former Melbourne players debuted together last night? What a shame it was for the filth and not us!
  12. After Mitch Robinson faking an injury in order to get space to go 3rd man up the other week, Broadbent may just use a defence of he was just closely checking Parker to make sure he didn't do the same thing?
  13. Maybe reduce the finals to three weeks? Just go Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, Grand Final?
  14. Your right that does tend to be the way. Cloke ended up signing late and I think Dunn signed about mid year the other year if I'm correct. I hope he stays. Edit: Re-worded.
  15. I get that, but when you continually see contracted names Terlich, M. Jones, Michie thrown around, just to name a few.... It's never to be traded, because as we all know, they have zero value. Wouldn't be the greatest look for the club sacking three contracted players. I agree with pretty much everyone that they're not long term players for the club, but I currently assume they'll still be on the list next year.
  16. So I'm assuming in this thread that players contract status aren't relevant one bit?
  17. Not saying they would, but they may for the same reason Saints want to play a single home game in Wellington each year & Bulldogs one in Cairns and before them Richmond. Sometimes the $ they'll make playing it somewhere outside the G is enough to sway.
  18. Please GC, don't let Carltank get another win. Would love to see them go back into turmoil with a loss today against a team with their entire midfield out!
  19. Ummm, maybe from the other three games we'd have down there where we're the home team and would get the gate. And a sponsorship deal with Tourism Tasmania to counter the loss of NT. As I said,it's not a deal I'd be entering into for no reason. You'd need to have certain conditions in place to make it worth while.
  20. Your clearly not following and it's not worth trying to explain any further. We didn't get the gate when we played saints at etihad the other week. Nor would we under what i suggested. You do get the concept of home & away games right?
  21. As I said, would all be circumstantial. For example, if we were to be playing 6 games a year in Tassie compared to Hawthorn's one, you'd be looking at Tasmania coming on board as a sponsor and replacing NT. We'd be giving the gate away as the away team. Home team gets the gate. Need to leave some incentive for Hawthorn, North and Saints to play a home game down there each year. Sure we could make all 6 home games and keep the gate, but that would leave us only 5 home games at the G. I wouldn't be happy with that at all.
  22. I posted in another thread about a year ago when the AFL was looking at one team playing 6 or 8 matches across Hobart & Launceston that I wouldn't be against that being us as long as it was under the right circumstances. For example if we played one away game in Launceston against Hawthorn giving them the gate. One away game in Hobart v North Melbourne giving them the gate. And given St Kilda are likely to walk away from Wellington and previously played some games in Tassie, we could play one away game against them also in Launceston giving them the gate. Then we could play one home game in Launceston & two home games in Hobart, giving us 6 games down there for the year. 8 Home games still at the G Kiss any home games at Etihad or NT goodbye. Be granted access to a Tasmania academy and then I reckon it works. We can grow our membership down there, with Robbo a great ambassador and we still keep the same amount of home games at the G that we have now. Don't know on the likelyhood or realistic chances of it happening. But under those circumstances, I certainly wouldn't be against it.
  23. Don't want to de-rail the thread, so this is the last i'll post on this point. But the ABC are an independent broadcaster. Fox News owned and run by Rupert Murdoch, the same guy who controls Herald Sun, the Essendon FC apologists. Just saying.
