Went along with the family; loved showing my 18 year old what going to the fotty in the old days was like. We wound up on the Northern wing in front of the old members stand. The 1sts were ensconced in the back of the stand and got pretty vocal as the game wore on. AFL Stand outs for me were Chandler - worked hard all day Weid - Tireless against a significantly bigger body Woey - A real surprise packet. Excellent field position and game awareness Melky - Too good for this level Disco - Blue collar solid AVR - Battled hard on a day designed specifially to NOT showcase his skills My son who stood out in the rain for the duration while faint hearts saught shelter - a true next generation Demon diehard

Fair enough but some of this is based on hindsight. Not sure Dunstan would have been the difference based on exposed form earlier in the year Bowey would definitely have been worth a try but I wonder if something is going on behind the scenes that we are not aware of based on his sudden departure from the ones earlier in the year - he looked good in the VFL Prelim. Spargo has a fantastic footy brain and does an awful lot of stuff that we don't see Macca not yet fit (don't forget how little he did in the GF last year) who also said at a recent club function that JVR is going to be special but is miles off tank wise, this would suggest that he would not have helped the fade out.

Specifically which players that were running around for Casey yesterday would have made a difference? Assessing the available playing list they are either developing youngsters or excellent mature age VFL players. Personally I think we suffered from too many injuries to too many key players when it counted.

Love Gus and always thought he would stay. A player does not immerse themselves in a club the way he has and just walk away for cash. I find the whole narrative about the money he has left on the table a bit of a furphy. He has not signed on for nothing, he will still be incredibly well paid for a 26 year old and because he is a smart guy I am sure he sees a bright future for himself after the boots have been hung up.

First game outside of Victoria and I have to say it was a ripper to watch. Mens Department are immense, #3 & 17 are as important as #1, 35 & 8 and we bumped into Harry P on the way home from dinner still in his gear and looking very happy. There is a different feel when travelling as our hotel was right next to the team's and we kept bumping into the players out and about. Walking distance to the ground was cream on the cake Great result in enemy territory but as soon as the game was over the locals went straight back to their hospitable selves. Great fun and go Dees (Definitely won't be waiting 59years for my next interstate game)
