  1. According to the powers that be, if it results in forceful contact to the head it is not fair. That is the justification for Trengove being outed for three weeks. The same principal should apply here. According to the article, Viney had just taken possession of the ball, so he had the option to tackle and chose not to. Everything the AFL has said regarding high contact in the last few years says he has to be reported and suspended.
  2. I'm going by the report on this thread that says Wojinski laid him out with a bump.
  3. I don't know details, but a jaw doesn't break on it's own. It happens with high contact. If he's hit someone high with enough force to break their jaw I would think that it's a slam dunk that he'd be reported for it.
  4. Watts actually does a lot off the ball. If you look at pack marking situations, he's often the guy putting on blocks and shoving opponents out of the way. The problem is that we need him to be the one taking the mark. The big problem with his game is his tackling and repeat efforts. Generally if he's knocked out of the contest he falls over and that's the end of it. He needs to be back up and into them over and over again.
  5. So will Wojinski be suspended for this? What about the guy who hit Gys? Can anyone remember the last time someone was suspended after playing against Melbourne (Casey in this case)? I'm struggling to remember one in the past year.
  6. Was the other guy stretchered off?
  7. Any word on how Jurrah is doing?
  8. Just call me NostraDumbass.
  9. I could make a terrible joke out of that.

  11. Barlow did it a couple of years ago. Davey did it a while back too. Admittedly they were both early rookie picks, but still rookies who made an immediate impact. Robertson was another. I'm wondering if it's simply that people are paying more attention to the fact that they are rookies than they were a decade ago?
  12. ANYWAY, back to the great win by Casey on the weekend... Bennell seems to be regarded as BOG. People reporting on the game seem to be saying that he showed genuine desire for the ball and maybe even a few signs of hardness here and there? These two areas have been his greatest weakness in the seniors, so if he is finally getting the hang of it he could be looking at a recall sometime soon. Anyone who was there able to confirm that he was showing this?
  13. Why do I like what Neeld is doing? Would anyone have picked the bolded players above as winning votes at the end of last season? Jordie maybe, but the rest? He's starting to turn around some guys who were looking like they might wind up discarded. I'm really looking forward to what the team looks like at the end of the season (and after trade week).
  14. 5 goals in a half! That's a hell of an effort for his comeback game.
  15. Agree with all of this. I know that I've often derided the ferals supporting some other clubs for hurling abuse at their own players. It sickens me to see it happening in our club. Criticism is one thing, but far too often you see people taking petty satisfaction from hurling insults and abuse at the team they are supposedly supporting, and often with little or no basis in reality. How about showing a little character and supporting the team through both the good times and the bad? Even better, if you can't do that, don't bother showing up to games and let those of us who can enjoy our day.
  16. Not happy at all. Ruined my perfect round. Bloody Hawthorn can't do anything right.
  17. Yes, I really am thrilled. Far fewer stupid mistakes than previous weeks and a hard-nosed attitude and amazingly enough we pushed them until the last few minutes. Even better is that the new regime is showing a clear impact on guys like Morton and Bate who many had written off and also in the improvement of some of our stalwarts like Jones and Moloney. The team is adapting to the new style better then I had anticipated and this week showed some real improvement across the board. If we continue to improve at this rate the bombers could be feeling nervous.
  18. Dunn didn't have Fisher in the 1st quarter. Watts did. After he had 10 disposals on Watts in Q1 Dunn took him and gave up 2 in the next quarter. Not sure what the stats were in the third, but given that he finished with 23 and got plenty in the 4th, it can't have been many. We really missed Clark today. He has to come back in. Likewise Frawley if fit. Assuming we get them both back, I would say Joel Mac and either Watts or Seller will go. Sad to say but Watts was very bad tonight.
  19. 1 poor decision and he's dragged well after the event and after he's kicked a 50+m goal? Why not drag him when he did it? I do agree it was a massive screw up, but to me it warrants a bake from the coach, not being substituted when there are others who are hurting the team worse.
  20. Two things happened. Firstly, we changed our tactics and let them have an extra man in defense. For the first three quarters we refused to give on this and kept sending people into our forward line to man them up and it worked. For some reason in the 4th we stopped and let them get away with it. Secondly, we subbed Dunn out of the game. He'd been doing a good job of sitting on Fisher. This combination meant that not only did they have a spare man in defense, but that the spare man was Fisher and he proceeded to rip our forwards to shreds and rebound at will. The only real hope we had at this point was a running 50m goal from the midfield.
  21. I want everyone to stop for a moment and appreciate the fact that we're having trouble with a top 6 because there were too many good players. How good is that? The past few weeks we've all been struggling to find enough positives to pick six. This time it's a struggle to cut some great performances and come up with only the 6 best. If this isn't a good sign I don't know what is. 6. N. Jones - His first half was awesome. Fell off a bit in the second, but clearly BOG for us. 5. T. McDonald - Shut down on one of the best mobile forwards in the game was great. Gave up an early goal when he was feeling Nick's star powerand another at the end that was bad luck as much as anything, but otherwise owned him. 4. J. McKenzie - Demolition job on Goddard. Enough said 3. J. Rivers - Held the backline together. He was solid all day, won his 1-1s and provided rebound. 2. Bartram - Hard and tough, disposal was far better than we've come to expect and he capped it with a brilliant goal in traffic. 1. Jamar - 55 hitouts? How the hell do you get numbers like that? Apologies to Davey, Grimes, Dunn, Magner, Bate and Bail who all had really good games. As I said, it's great to have too many players to pick from.
  22. Can't agree with this. He smashed Sam Fisher. Subbing Dunn let Fisher off the hook and Sylvia gave us nothing in return. Stupid move. Should have been Watts wearing red tonight.
  23. I want to see less silly errors. If we play with the hardness we showed last week and more skill and composure with the ball it will be enough to push them and keep things close. If I see that I'll be thrilled with the progress we've made.
  24. So did anyone listen? What was said?
  25. I like the idea of him using his pace and aggression to win the ball in the middle and give our forwards a chance. Goal-scoring midfielders are gold in today's game, and that is exactly what he is.
