All class. Good on them.
-
I can't agree with that. He has no defensive pressure at all, and that was a feature of his play with us. He's had two uncontested marks for goals and a couple of touches up on the wing and HBF. He's doing ok, but not great.
-
Two to Clark.
-
Not sure I'd go that far. He got the crumbs from a shocking kick. Clark just scored because Frawley hadn't followed him back into the 50.
-
Early note on Hawks vs Cats. Clark looks like he's lost some of that defensive intensity he had with us. Can still take a mark though. And with that he just dropped a sitter directly in front.

My 3 word player analysis v Gold Coast

Toumpas - Passed to opposition -
I don't see anything bad in there? Is it the fact that he says he'll be cheering them on?
-
Waite didn't score a point! Great recruiting right there.

Which player positively suprised you against GC

Jamar and Garland. Both have been ordinary recently, both had great games, impacted the scoreboard and didn't make mistakes. Dead heat. -
The Toump is definitely getting dropped. He's looking even worse on the TV.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 1, 2015

Just sitting down to watch the game. I notice that when Kent was nailed and a melee began, Garlett put himself over Kent and the trainer and made sure nobody stepped/fell/was pushed on them. Nicely done. -
Treloar, Shiel and Green are tearing it up against the Saints. There's another mid who seems to be a bit quiet though.
-
I've been thinking kind of Jarrod Molloy at Brisbane. A slightly heavy forward wrecking ball.
-
I was wondering about that myself. He's taken it from right on the line. I guess it was fading towards the post, so he couldn't know that it was going through and if you ignore that little fact it was a great bit of play.
-
I agree with the consensus on Toump out and Vince in. I think that's a fairly obvious move. Dawes is a problem. We don't want to mess up the balance by dropping a mid for a KPF. It has to be a tall for a tall. Which of our talls deserves to be dropped to make way for him? Our defence was superb yesterday, so we don't want to mess with that. Frost could be outed, but he rucked as well and Dawes can't do that. Jamar can't ruck the entire game (not that Frost is that great an option, but at least he give s a contest). I really don't envy the selectors with this one.

Just a little note that I loved. Cross burned him on the lead and kicked it over his head to a pack for an easy turnover. Aaron didn't hesitate to let him know about it. That's a first gamer telling off a guy with over 200 games to his name. He's just slotted in as if he's been playing with us for years.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 1, 2015
RalphiusMaximus replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
No votes from me. Too hard to split the hairs. For so long I've struggled to find 6 who deserved it, now there are too many. I'll just say it was an amazing effort and almost everyone had an impact. Great job to the team. -

The loss of Betts and now Garlett is a killer for them. That's 80+ goals a year that they threw away under Malthouse. Add Waite who was a matchwinner when on the park and they look stuffed. Mick was just on the nine footy show talking about the list. They asked him about ex-Collingwood players and he said on top of Daisy that if he could he'd have brought in Heath Shaw and Chris Dawes as well but there was no way to make it happen. -

Jones on Watts - Said over the last 18 months or so he's really bought in to the club and committed himself in training, taking on more responsibility and leadership. That would correlate to the big discussion of whether he was going to sign with us again or try to move to a more successful club wouldn't it? Sounds like once he decided to stay he made a few changes and really got his [censored] together. Votes from Lloyd: Garlett 8 McDonald 8 Jones 7 Watts 7 Sounds about right. -

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm downloading the game right now. Now I have something to watch as well :D Team song on now. -
These were my two picks. The Lamumba goal when we really needed it to steady the ship, plus the way he did it were awesome. What I loved with the blocking by Dunn, aside from the fact that we simply haven't done it in recent years, was the clear communication between them leading up to it. You could see our two players talking and gesturing in the lead up as they planned how to win the ball. Then as you say, Dunn takes on two and wins, giving us a clean takeaway from a 50/50. Just awesome play all 'round.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 1, 2015

That was awesome. My only issue was the jarring point where they cut it short and moved in to the Melbourne theme song. That needs work. They could even say the club song isn't played unless we win. -
I went and watched the doggies game with one of their supporters after our win. It was a really entertaining, open game. Neither side had great defence so the ball was going coast to coast a hell of a lot. Bont was actually really quiet, especially in the first half where he only had 4 touches. Boyd looks a year or so behind Hogan, but he took a really nice contested mark for his one goal. He looks like he'll be a real handful one on one. I think they need to bring in one more big forward to make it all work. Stringer needs to be the third tall down there and neither Redpath nor Crameri are good enough to warrant the better defenders. On Stringer, I would think all those bemoaning the choice of Toumpas would mention him more often. The guy is an absolute gun.

For once the struggle will be who doesn't deserve votes. This may take some thought. -

That was just awesome. 9tackles to Brayshaw is insane. Tmac 12 marks. The Jamar vs. Smith battle. Watts taking contested marks ang THE HULK finally got to strut around the MCG the way he was born to. Just an amazing game to be at.
