  1. I was leaning to picking him before the draft camp because I was intoxicated by his skill and athleticism and, in part, because we needed a key forward to replace Neitz. I am glad you were leaning towards him - obviously the club has great faith in your insights as a recruiter. but you do confuse me with some of your logic But you do think he was a replacement for David Neitz? And now you are disappointed? Wow. I guess you have told the club that and they are regretting they listened to you in the first place. Hmmm? And if you don't think he was going to be a crash and bash forward what did you think he was going to be?? And why would you be disappointed now? Explain that again?
  2. How do you know what he was drafted to do? He was simply our number 1 pick because he is tall and has skills. Stop assuming you know best. Can't stand that sort of crud. It's an annoying habit that you will have to get used to changing.
  3. Ha, you mean given away. It would be awfully embarrassing for the AFL with only 5k turning up. I'd put the house on every school kid within 100kms would have got a ticket.
  4. WHY ARE WE ALWAYS GETTING DRAGGED INTO THESE STUPID ARGUMENTS?????? Nobody mentions Dean Wellman who left with a year to go on his contract?? Nobody talks about Carlton tanking the last 11 games of the year to get Judd? Nobody talks about Carlton tanking to get Kruezer? Nobody talks about Carlton winning 3 wooden spoons in a row? Nobody talks about how we were stiffed by Scott Thompson. A few talk about who we were stiffed by Scull and his fat dad. They all talk about Melbourne. Stuff 'em. I am sick of Melbourne being dragged through the mud on these stupid issues. What are we - cursed?? Stynes, Broadbridge, Wight, Barassi, Norm Smith........aaaarggghhhh As for Coaches. If clubs stop sacking coaches mid contract then guess what might happen?? People might actually start honouring contracts. (rant over)
  5. I have never received a membership renewal. Pathetic. Rang the club last week and renewed my 6 memberships! - must have been lost in the mail they said. Previous years I have had a number of reminders but this year there hasn't been any. I understand it's expensive for the club to keep sending out reminders but as I am in marketing I always like to see what they do in terms of encouraging people to re-sign. Poor from the club IMO.
  6. Was told by Melbourne that they would recruit him. When he slid to 50 the Pies took him very quickly. I have met him and he is a good lad. Will go very well I believe.
  7. Dimwit wanted GWS and GC for one reason only. 60% of advertising revenue is generated from those two places. AS well it is rugby league heartland and they dominate TV ratings - even though people don't attend rugby games in any decent number. So get over it. It was his call and he will live and die by it. Out of any sport in Australia AFL is clearly the dominant one. He intends for it to stay that way. You mightn't like him but he has done a good job,
  8. Not one club captain predicted that Melbourne would make the 8. But one of them predicted Mitch Clark would win the Coleman medal! Interesting.
  9. People overestimate well and truly what our players are worth to other clubs. Do you really think Davey or Green will be worth much to other clubs if they have another poor year at the Dees? I mean, cmon. They won't be worth a cracker. Particularly given this draft is being touted as the best of all time. As the say in the Castle, ' you're dreamin'....
  10. Neeld is on record as saying he wants to instill 3 or 4 game plans as and when situations call for it. It takes time to teach them. The more 'structured' the plans are the harder they are to teach and instill. Already it has been said that the Dee players have been so keen to stick to the structures they have forgotten how to take the game on and run and carry when appropriate. It will simply take time for the players to get confident in the plan, each other and themselves. It's a process we are going through but with Neeld and Craig we have two very strong guys at teaching our players so I remain quietly confident we will gradually piece together our own style of play. personally I like the fact we will be able to play different styles for different situations. Just hope it doesn't take too long!
  11. What a dumb decision but one we have come to expect. It's ostensibly the same as tunneling - where you take out a players lower half of the body whilst they are airborne going for the ball. Highly dangerous. In this case Butcher didn't take out the lower half of Col's body but caused the same effect by recklessly chopping the arms causing Col's body to rotate sharply and hit the ground totally unprotected. These morons make it up as they go along,
  12. I am really glad you are not negotiating our sponsorship deal. Do you actually have any idea how difficult these things are to land? Do you think in the economic climate we have at the moment with retrenchments and lay-ffs everywhere not to mention the European sovereign debt saga and the fact that the USA is pretty much stuffed and we have Japan in a 20 year deflationary spiral, that there are sponsors tripping over themselves to throw money after footy clubs? If you do think that then you are in dreamland. As for taking "$600k for a one year deal and then negotiating a 3 yr deal" on vastly better terms you demonstrate a complete lack of understanding, logic and frankly intelligence. Do you really think $600k for 1 yr would be a good thing?? It would completely de-value our business proposition and place us in a terrible situation. The chances of negotiating a 3 yr deal at decent rates would be crippled. It's clearly not ideal to be at this point and not have a FOJ sponsor. But stop with the inane ranting when you don't really understand the sponsorship market. Leave it to the club and let them be judged over time on their performance.
  13. Dangerfield came out and kicked six frigging goals the following week!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. And too slow. We would wait for other teams to get their zone in place, then kick in!
  15. I don't get why they don't put him in the gym and say " don't come out til you have put on 8kgs" Has the footy talent. Needs the bod.
  16. I thought I had read it somewhere. Apologies I might be premature in that selection!
  17. I think Frawley should be higher. Possibly the only other candidate is Jamar. I think he should be higher than Kruezer and Leeuinberger. Kruezer doesn't rate for me, particularly on actual performance.
  18. I think Frawley gets in at 48. That's about it for Dees. Pendlebury at 1.
  19. What about the free on the Western boundary when the ball bounced off a Hawthorn player and the maggots stopped play for 30 secs to confer and then gave the the free to the Hawks. AFter our players had started running towards our goal as they knew the Hawks were the last to touch it, There were so many howlers last week it was a &*^%$^#%$ disgrace. Brad Sewell 5 free kicks - 4 for over the shoulder after he ducked his head. Luke Hodge for a high tackle that never went above his shoulder. The list goes on. One of the worst performances seen by the maggots.
  20. Sorry, why hasn't the club told Jurrah in no uncertain terms who he can talk to and where. This is a sensitive legal issue. Either the club hasn't done it or Jurrah has gone against their demands. If the club hasn't done it, they deserve a bollocking. it is unbelievable LJ could come back to Melbourne without that legal advice. As for Eddie it is a disgraceful breech of protocol.
  21. They are clearly better. Do you really think they're not?
  22. I didn't notice any of our past leaders leading. Beemer was unsighted. Rivers the same. Davey did nothing. FFS we had 3 players who had 10 kicks - we were nowhere, we were under pressure, our 'plan' fell apart. They had 12 players who got more dreamteam points than our best Jones. It was an appalling effort on our behalf.
