Umpires ruin the [censored] game. What a pizzweak free again. How many goals are they given???

What a soft [censored] free to Monfries

The thing that also seems to be forgotten is that Northey told the players at 3/4 time the Hawks were smashing Geelong and all we had to do was beat the Dogs. The players were very confused when the roar went up at the Western Oval. It took them a bit of time to figure out what was going on....

I say boot the bozo....

Always like to see what the other team does in terms of dropping players after we beat them (hasn't happened too often in recent times!) but the dogs have reacted savagely dropping Cordy, Talia, Jong and Hunter. Boyd somehow gets through,...Goodes and Crameri are out injured/suspended Cordy looks a real bust for them. Was touted very highly...

Its also why the Saints went for McCartin over Petracca. The price of a key/power forward has skyrocketed since the Buddy deal......

No, I get that but seriously, the guy is 20 and his kicking is fine. It's not Nathan Buckley-esq but not many people are. I'll tell you what his kicking is - its very effective. If he has limits, it would appear that he is well aware of them.

Garlett also passed one from the boundary line to JHogan

You are kidding yourself. Yeah lets get rid of him. FMD

The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!

I disagree. It was never a best first year player award but a future star award. -
Westhoff runs too far up the ground - we want TMac closer to goal I would think. Maybe FItzy can run with him?
-
Are you for real?? FMD we have some ridiculous comments on this site. How about the 40 players that didn't get 11 touches in the last quarter?? How are they all going?

Judd's leadership is abysmal as well

Is that Stephen Trigg in disguise?

Err not quite.. but in any case this will all be about the comfortable satisfaction. The AFL tribunal basically said they ordered TB 4 it was compounded and delivered and we know they didn't inject Thymosin into the players and there was never any Thymosin on the premises (despite the laughable picture of Dean Wallis' pill bottle!). But even though it was ordered etc we can't actually be sure thats what they got. Its like saying you go to a fish and chip shop and order the flake (that's illegal because of over fishing). You pay for flake, eat it but can't be 100% sure it was flake so you get off. Wada instead will say you attempted to get TB4 ordered it compounded it etc etc, and have no records to the contrary, guilty. Adios EFC

The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!
jnrmac replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes but that's not what it was when it was established. Its what it has morphed in to. And in effect there are only 8 players that can win it. Those nominated in the first 8 rounds. -

So as a hypothetical Hogan plays say 5 great games at the end of the year and JKH plays 20 games averaging 14 possessions, you'd pick JKH? I get why the panel are seduced by the best first year player theme but its not what the award was established for. And from what you are saying if a player play1 game, a blinder in roudn 23, and is nominated he can't win the award. That is a joke. A player that is nominated in any round should be able to win. And a player who is not nominated (say Gary Ablett Jnr, Dane Swan etc) should also be able to win. The award needs a total revamp. -

Its not supposed to but how do you explain 3 winners past round 8 in the history of the award? And the consistency argument is an aberation from when the award was first established. It should have nothing to do with consistency. Its about a future star, not who has had the best first year. -
If Crameri was up the ground then great - that's exactly where we would want him. Dunn was right not to go anywhere near him. I thought the back 6 were exceptional. Fitzy was a revelation.

If you think about it a team that finishes last gets pick 1, 19, 37, 55 etc A team that finishes 1st gets pick 18, 36, 54 etc So the last placed team really only gets a single chance to recruit 1 good player more than the top team. If this is a bust like, say Cale Morton, or you draft a Tom Boyd or McCartin that is a longer term prospect, you havent improved your list relatively. So you have to trade and you have to do it over multiple seasons. You can't as some on his thread seem to think go out and recruit Fyffe, Hannebery and Sheil in a season to turn your team around. It simply can't happen. You have to be operating at every level above the pack - drafting, trading, development etc etc What Roos and PJ have done in a short space of time is quite remarkable. But they still need a number of seasons before you can call it successful. And when you consider the GC and GWS concessions it has been ridiculously hard - made harder by the fact we haven't chosen well or developed then etc. Its why we needed a priority pick, why its a good idea and why we should have got one.

The who WADA appeal will focus on the comfortable level of satisfaction as they believe the AFL tribunal applied it wrongly Watch this space.

Spot on.
