Like many things in the AFL landscape with reference to player movement etc, it's self-governing. It won't happen and in fact, the current changes are likely to make it even more self-regulating given you can now only match a bit with two picks, plus discount being reduced to 10%. If a player is projected and ranked to go at Pick 60, no club would match a first round bid and that leaves the bidder to burn a draft selection.

No, off the top of my head this hasn't happened. It is also a massive risk to the bidding club that another club wouldn't match it and they'll burn a pick.

Same with Oliver, but we had Goodwin in self-preservation mode and President who lacked foresight. Not too mention a divided board that didn't help.

Because we want Petracca out, they don't want BH out. It's no different from last year when we didn't release Oliver despite his desire to get to Geelong.

Can you say that again?

You don't think it's merely indicative of just how much we want Petracca and Oliver out of the club?

Exactly how I see it too. Very fair return for Petracca.

Very happy with 7 & 8 and look forward to seeing the final shuffling of the deck chairs. Ideally, I would've liked to have held onto 24 but I'll wait and see what the final outcome is prior to judgement. But as I said, very excited by this. We should still be able to get two very good players at 7 & 8 if we hold those selections.

Just patiently waiting for this bad-boy to hit the double century.

Correct - it was noted that we ideally wanted Robey to keep a low-profile in the lead up to the draft. Unfortunately for us, he's had numerous head-turning performances since our initial approach that have caused his name to be lit up on the boards of national recruiters.

This wasn't directed at you mate. But there's multiple posters across various threads taking issue with things being posted, because it's not in the media, but having previously shouted down any media reporting linking our own to another club. It's tiresome.

Yeah there's definitely a few examples of that... Jake Bowes, Brodie Grundie, Treloar, Mitchell (Hawthorn to Collingwood). It's definitely the closet thing we have to pick purchasing as it stands.

This is hilarious. Half the people complaining about this saying there's no truth to it as the story hasn't appeared in the media were the same people banging on that the media were bullsh1tt1ng about Oliver and Petracca not being at the club next year. When it suits, am I right?

Without a player involved or another draft pick? No, that's not permissible. There's been a concept floated where a club could sell a draft selection for cash (i.e. cap space), but under current rules this is not permissible.

We’ve expressed interest in him throughout the year. It’s entirely possible this is accurate.- Farewell Clayton Oliver

That’s my bad mate, I’ve missed that. Apologies from my end!- Farewell Clayton Oliver
You might want to listen again mate, he is asked (with reference to Collingwood) “what do you like about them?” He replies, “what do I like about them? Ahhhhh, I like them better than Melbourne. That’s for sure.” AFL trades wrap: Clayton Oliver takes brutal shot at Melbourne, three clubs involved in Starcevich move- Farewell Christian Petracca
Absolutely, I think it’s a pretty exciting time if this eventuates.- Farewell Christian Petracca
