I also suspect at this stage that is the most likely scenario in which we'd obtain Pickett. Somewhat disappointing, as I would be comfortable selecting him on potential alone at Pick 8, but I also really like Farrow/Nairn. Also, if we grabbed HH at P37 or whatever it comes into, would alleviate most of the disappointment - he's been one of the players I've had on the wish-list for a while now.

You're very likely correct, it seems to be the most realistic reason. Blues will need to balance their points carefully for this draft with Dean, and next year with Walker. In fact, from memory the points next year are restricted even further and Walker is anticipated to be one of the best players in the crop, so they would very likely be analysing and projecting on the GC finishing positing cf. North.

I don't know and I don't pretend to know either. It could be for a myriad of reasons. Maybe the club has changed tact, maybe they think obtain a similar player they were targeting in ancillary manner without burning capital. Correct - things can change in a relatively short period of time. Maybe they have a decent understanding of where this sits now and want to make it a priority.

Do you suspect his role as a utility and inability to definitively bed-down a position has adversely impacted on where he'll go? That's assuming this slide occurs...

NHH would be an absolute fantastic get at 33. I’ve been very bullish on him, would love to get him in the side, could see him filling a couple of spots very nicely.

The Gold Coast pick from next year has been on the table, along with Pick 37, in order to get back into this years first round.

That's strange, I would've thought that those picks would really hit the mark with the general vicinity of first round picks we'd want to target. I could be wrong, but I thought I heard it mentioned somewhere last night that although nothing had agreed on, it was likely those pick selections would be formalised today?

I haven't listened to it yet, so this is just my opinion, but it reads as though he's talking explicitly about 7 & 8 (I stand to be corrected). I'd imagine we're still looking to move another pick into the mid first-round, likely from next year. Of course, that would also be an interesting move if we genuinely see ourselves in the hunt for Bailey.

I'd be thrilled with either of Lindsay or Pickett - you can throw XT into that mix too. Can't say I really know much about Nairn, had to look him up when @BC_1718_DC came through with the mail last week, but I like the look of him. I think if we get Nairn plus any of those others we'll be pretty well set and do well out of this year, even if it wasn't overly what I was expecting from us draft-wise.

I had that thought too, especially given the timing of all this.

Bombers speaking to Latrelle Pickett today - potentially coming into consideration for one of their picks.

I’d be ecstatic at that. Personal preference this season was for us to get Grlj and Lindsay in, given it looks like Taylor and Robey will be gone. Lindsay would go a long way to addressing our ball movement issues. As you said, I’d be somewhat sceptical at this though.

I’d say there’s zero chance we’d be taking Dovaston if Pickett still on the board, even at Pick 8. Sadly, I think we can put a line through Grlj too.

Encouragement, leadership and voice from XL is astounding for such a young player. JVR continues to impress with his pace, led most laps comfortably for his running group. Heath already looks fully integrated and one of the boys already. Langford wearing #4; also looks slimmer than last season.

JVR looks remarkably more confident marking. Taking quite a few nice marks at full stretch.
