  1. thanks, but the problem where I am is the other way around. I can only get the radio through digital (either through an app or on my digital radio), and the digital radio is commentary is behind the TV video. I guess I could sync them on something like Kayo where I can pause the video and let the radio catch up, but not on the unpausible free-to-air (where removing the unplausible commentators is most desirable).
  2. I'd love to do it, but I always find the radio is well behind the visual play on the TV. Am I doing something wrong?
  3. Yes but surprisingly they still haven’t made a collection of different crowd noises for different circumstances and trained someone how to use it.
  4. A lot of interesting points here: How did we arrive here? Who, or what, is to blame? And is there a solution? Jonathan Horn breaks down the game’s current malaise An increasingly hard sell: just what has happened to AFL football?
  5. Sorry to disappoint, but 4 weeks is not a fair whack compared to Spargo's 2 - a youngish non-leader got rubbed out for 2 weeks for a far less serious offence than those committed by a senior VC (leader++) of C'wood. I'm staying unrelaxed about the penalty being only 2 more weeks. If Spargo was 1 week and Koz one week or fined, then maybe 4 would be a 'fair whack'. And C'wood are still whinging, though at least they finally decided against appealing.
  6. But it was just Malcom's pants, no?
  7. True That's why I suggested Ralph's article was ironic. But I guess my post suggesting he didn't intend irony was ironic.
  8. SImple. Club claims breach was all due to drink and thus unintentional, and then state club will deal with drink issue as breaking of internal club rules. Club in control of penalty. Simple. (ButI can't see them getting away with it this time.)

  10. Keepings off? If that goes on too long don't commentators usually say the defense is so well structured that there are no options to go forward?
  11. For the same reason I'm doing it here. I didn't think it was relevant to the point I was making. I find it annoying when people quote a long screed just to comment on one point in it, often without even highlighting that point. If I misrepresented you in some way I apologise.
  12. Yes, it would be bizarre if Saty (or anyone) had actually said it. But he didn't. He is just saying some things are more important to him. I doubt if he is alone there. I'll go further and say that if (to my surprise) there is anyone who is more emotionally invested in footy than in anything else, then that person may have a problem. Beat me up.
  13. WHat has he admitted to? Has the AFL actually penalised him like the other 3?
  14. true. It's almost impossible to seperate the Essendon Covid issue from the Covid issue. A number of sources have said Connor had broken the usual AFL Covid restrictions/rules. If so, when is the AFL going to issue him with a penalty like 3 others have had?
  15. What a laugh. Tell us when do you become concerned by a new plague? When it exceeds deaths by all other causes by 10%, or 20%, or 100%? Of course people die from all sorts of other causes including food poisoning for example, but if suddenly loads more people died from food poisoning you might consider there was a problem there to be addresed. Ditto for respiratory failure.
  16. He didn't say it was the best way. Just not useless like you posted. Unfortunately hard to convince Australians to wear masks.
  17. Some porcine aviators out your way Redleg?
  18. I wonder how much worse a tackle is for virus transfer compared to handling an 'infected' ball. 19 touches worse than 2 tackles?
  19. I note in that AGE article it states: The league also reiterated to clubs that games would likely go ahead even if clubs lost several players, effectively placing the onus on clubs to keep their players COVID-free by following protocols. Following this policy, it seems to me that since Essendon effectively lost 22 players on Sunday, the game should have gone ahead, so we should have played and boosted our percentage nicely.
  20. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afl-bans-contact-training-for-large-groups-20200622-p55501.html This is absurd. Practice in groups of 9 for tackling but be sure not to put all your defenders etc in a single group for fear they will all have to isolate. Then tackle like mad during matches. LOL
  21. Swapping around who plays whom in rounds is not as straightforward as it might seem at first sight given the logistics (both normal and now) and the complication that some teams have already played each other.
  22. One positive is that a practice match on a ground where actual games are played may be more meaningful to the players than running around in Casey. Seems so to me, but who knows.
  23. The problem I have with that position is that the premierships MFC won well before I was born mean little to me, with or without war-time asterisks. Only ones which I 'participate' in mean anything. Thus I don't take any comfort from the fact that in 2085 no-one will notice that the 2020 was compromised. What would any of us rather - surprisingly learning MFC had actually won 13 premierships in the past or winning one around now? I am ambivalent on the question of whether a club should try to win it this year versus using the season as an opportunity to develop the list and tactics. I guess I'd try and take a middle way and if the stars align towards season end, start focussing on just winning.
