He's a more rounded player than that in my opinion and can win a lot of ground ball inside 50 as well and probably play a little bit through the middle as well. Is one of those players that only needs 5 or 6 touches to be an influence, because he is tres skilled. It's probably a luxury to draft a guy like this, but he will be an absolute handful for defenders, a 3-goal a game player, and I can see him taken/would take him first round. Think of an in-form Adem Yze when he plays deep forward and you have the sort of player we're talking about.

Rance, McEvoy and Maric will all be gone early, possibly all in the top 10 but definitely all in the top 20
-
Yes, its confirmed, three-year deal

An apalling footballer, but seemingly a v.good coach and a good, though risky, choice. Quite a funny man, too, so his press conferences could be interesting.
-
There isnt't a hope in Hades that Gill will be delisted, possible contender for worst post of the year - highly regarded by the Crows.
-
It is a vendetta, use Jaded for example, who consistently besmirches the man at every opportunity, yet will be bestow effusive praise on the execrable Chris Johnson, who is pittifully soft. Yze has played injured for the last three years and has a forward goal sneak been as useful as any in that role. And how people bring up that he negotiated for a better contract is beyond me - a heap of MFC players have done it, Tingay, Schwarz etc, its a point of football to get the best deal and he earnt it. I;m happy to say Yze has been under par, but he has been a lot better than most and has deserved some time to get right. Moreover he is still easily in our best 22.
-
The issue and the vendetta gainst Yze is ridiculuos and stems from percipient comments made by Spunjy, who I might addis a very good judge, that were latched onto by imbelices. Yze has weaknesses in his game that have become glaring as he has aged and been ravaged by injury and it is a fair point to criticise him on this, but to then say he hasnt been outstanding in other areas is to blight what has been a very good and effective career. Other clubs have had similar players and these have been lauded for what they did - Mercuri, Rohan Smith are examples - so I just say cope with the fact he is still here, because I can tell you from the horses mouth, that if he is fit he will be firing next year!!!

Can't speak for his media acumen or marketability, but Dean Bailey is a very, very, very good football brain. I'd also like to point out that the description of Chris Connolly as a failure is extremely penal. He took a 2-20 club to 9 wins in his first season, got them to the finals ahead of schedule the next year and then they had two solid and unlucky years when they finished 9th, a great season last year and then they have had a poor year this year, albeit when expectation was rife, when the Wiz hasn't played and they havent been able to refresh their midfield in the draft. To be so negative to the man is a bit unfair, but I guess there is no way to censor the moronerator.

Michael Braun's ability to play consistent quality football nowadays, after having a knee that was completely torn to pieces, has been very impressive.

Fair go dapper, when have I ever knocked McLean? I watched Sylvia play 11 games for the Bendigo Pioneers in his Coaches Award-winning season and he was a better player then than he is now, he could kick longer, he could evade players and he spent a lot more time through the middle. Perhaps, that speaks a lot for the injuries and lack of preparation that have marred his AFL career, but in reality, his AFL output has been only OK...he hasnt been able to play much through the middle and you can hardly regard him as a gun! As for Jones, my point is that he needs a lot of work to be a gun footballer, and that he is being over-rated by a lot of people at the moment...maybe, he will be a gun, but as I say, he is a poor kick and he can only play one position. My views on Moloney are above. I dont think my views are blinkered, I think they are unbiased and methodical. If you can honestly say that Jones, Sylvia and Moloney are gun AFL footballers, you wont ever earn a cracker in the AFL industry.
-
Fact is the writing is on the wall with him because his groins are shagged. He's a useful player, but taking his injuries into account and the fact that he isnt particularly quick and is a very predicatble, kick it long player who can only play one position, I think it's fair to say he is only an ordinary unit on the list. I mean assuming we draft a quality midfielder and have McLean, Bruce, Green, TJ, Jones, McDonald and Sylvia, its a long bow to suggest Moloney is going to be an important player. Jones is good at the scrimmages, but very dull in all other aspects of the game...Again, if I was trying to build a quality AFL team, I would be looking to more well-rounded players.
-
He wasnt touted as a top five pick at all, that rating was assigned by people, mostly ignoramuses, who had watched four games of under age football games for the year - the TAC Cup GF and the Under 18 championships
-
Williams and Mitchell get the ball 30 times and always did - they also dont kick horrendous pie floaters they give it to their teammates constantly in better position - Im not saying he's bad, he's just an ordinary being made to look good by a very bad team...he wouldnt get a game at most clubs.
-
Actually kicking can't be corrected. It takes over 10,000 correct technical repititions to address ingrained kicking flaws and it is impossible to exercise this in a pressure cooker environment. It is one of the great fuphys that kicking can be improved...very rarely does this ever happen. We don't need a Jones, we already have McLean... we are a one-dimensional football club that has suffeered becuase of very streamlined recruiting goals...people carrying on about about a guy who cant kick getting 15 possessions a game - five of them, i'll admit, impressive pack clearances - is a bit silly...it's about time the club and supporters realise that Jones, Sylvia, Moloney are ordinary footballers.
-
Jones is fast becoming the most over-rated player in AFL history - he can't kick, is accountable and is slow - saving grace is obviously his innate ability in crushes - realistically, he wouldn't get a regular game in many other sides - our team is in a serious state of decay, that needs season after season of top 5 picks to replenish it.
-
Jaded, fair's fair, Bell did the worng thing and made himself and the club look ridiculous - Yze (who you will bake at will) has stood up to Barry Hall in the past and when it was Bell's turn he came out of it looking like a girl.
-
Bell was clearly trying to explain to him that he did it by accident, as if to say please don't touch me - it was a bad look and made him look like a squib unfortunately

Tips for the... Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy
IvanBartul13 replied to Coxy's topic in Melbourne Demons
White will win it by a country mile, from Junior and Godfrey -
Good point re Jeff White, who to the constant misunderstanding of many posters here, has remained our best and most consistent player this year - will win the Bluey in a cakewalk
-
listened to it as well...good stuff they gave us a wave...not bad call, but one of the callers is a complete w***ker
-
It is also ridiculous to suggest Sheedy is a "short-term" coach - even when his survival has been threatened, he has resorted to youth and Essendon, historically, has guarded its draft picks with frugality. Though he may not be able to coach for a long time, he would be unlikely to savage a club in pursuit of immediate success

Could Nathan Jones win the Best and Fairest this year?
IvanBartul13 replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
He was our best player today but hasnt got a hope in Hades of winning the Best and Fairest - White and McDonald would be streets ahead of him -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 15
IvanBartul13 replied to WonnaJurah's topic in Melbourne Demons
$100 says Jones and Sylvia arent in the B+F top 3!!! If I'm a joke, take the bet -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 15
IvanBartul13 replied to WonnaJurah's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because people play favourites and their votes are biased towards players that they like, usually young buzz players, for whatever reason. Jones has been pretty good but he's averaging 16 possessions a game and is an ordinary kick - hardly starring Jeff White, McDonald and Bruce should be whipping him in the votes and sylvias polling is vastly inflated as well -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 15

sylvia was ordinary this award is completely rigged - Jones being on top is a joke
