The scenario here is wildly different though. St. Kilda may not have any incentive to win (and that's extremely debatable), but Carlton that year had a very big incentive to lose. To be honest, I can't see them wanting to do anything other than smash us in to oblivion in round 22, which they should rightfully do.

Riewoldt I think. I have a hard enough time keeping up with Melbourne player nicknames. Wish people wouldn't refer to opposition players by their nicknames.

We just smashed the buggery out of the biggest joke of a midfield in the league. It was a great win, but let's not kid ourselves, there will be no such luxury next week. It would take our absolute best and their absolute worst for that to happen. I'm sure there's plenty of 'experimenting' that can be done should we be in any danger of winning next week. No point even discussing St. Kilda. There's a few pretty good reasons why they're first and we're last. To be honest, I enjoyed putting the PP out of my mind and enjoying footy properly again today. I barracked hard for a win and we belted them; this meant far more to me than the hollow win against Port, which just left me feeling sick. I could've gone a few more days before anyone mentioned the PP again.

He played very well today, but we saw both the best and worst. Don't want to wizz on the parade too much, so I'll leave it at that.

Paul Wheatley Mathew Whelan and Russell Robertson
Nasher replied to Carn dees's topic in Melbourne Demons
The problem as I understand it is that with Robbo and Junior on the veteran's list, removing both from the list only yields one spot for another player. Therefore if he is delisted or he retires, we won't actually gain a spot on the list anyway. Can anyone confirm or correct this? -
Likewise. It was a dog's act, but I don't it makes him he's a dog of a person.

I don't think anyone's suggesting he should be kept; it's pretty clear to all and sundry that he's finished, including Paul himself. Spitting on his grave is extremely poor form though. -

Assuming this is true (and I'll be annoyed if it isn't): Nice to know that from time to time there's a player who can read the writing on the wall when their career is clearly over, and retire with dignity. I can never help but feel a little embarressed for the "I've still got plenty to offer!" types. He's one player who never seemed to be quite as good as he should've been, but definitely got to 'good-serviceable' and that's much more than most. The horrid run with soft tissues certainly did not help his cause. All the best Paul. -
Tell them to get their hand(s) off it.

If it were anyone other than Freo I'd be absolutely confident we'd get smashed given our injuries and recent 'form'. However, it is Freo, and they are the only team that are worse at the MCG than Port, and we saw what a joke that mob were. I still think we'll win.

Lynden Dunn is also contracted for 2010.

If you were Cale Morton's manager, why would you push for a 3 or 4 year deal at this stage? At the end of two years he'll be hitting his straps completely and will be worth way more than he currently is, so Cale (and therefore the manager) will be much better off. IMO 2 years makes business sense for both parties.

Don't think it was ever in doubt really, he'd have been the first they'd have wanted to be crossed off the 'to re-sign' list. Good news just the same though.

Bate is in our best 10 players at the moment and the B+F will reflect this. I know that's fairly faint praise given how rubbish we are at present, but I reckon it's a long way off the mark to suggest he's on thin ice.

I remember all kinds of useless toss, and unfortunately have no control over what I do and don't remember. Your avatar was some bloke with a stern look on his face (an eyebrow raised?). I don't know who it was (didn't at the time either), but I remember he reminded me of Shaun Micallef. Reckon you're 100 times the poster now as you were then though.
-
I remember you, and your avatar. I would never have guessed that was you, actually.

From what I've seen of German, they could do a lot worse.

6. Bate 5. Valenti 4. Jones 3. Sylvia 2. Petterd 1. McNamara Also happy with the improvement being shown by Dunn who in recent weeks has demonstrated that he is not a completely lost cause, and Martin, who has demonstrated he may have what it takes to succeed as a forward. Bonus points to Paul Johnson who managed to have a lot of us, including at the club, completely duped in to thinking he might be able to play. He's not a ruckman, he's just a crap midfielder.

There's a setting I could turn off that stops threads from being 'bumped' if it has a poll and it receives a vote.

These players haven't played this year (excluding pre-season games): Blease Strauss Wonaeamirri Zomer ® Hughes ® Healey ® From this point onwards only one of Zomer, Healey and Hughes can be elevated, and Blease, Strauss and Aussie are all done for the year (with Healey listed as indefinite). So of the 6 left unplayed, Zomer and Hughes are the only ones who could possibly play now, and even then it can only be one of them.

If that really is Jeff White, then I just feel really embarressed for him. Until now, I never had the impression that he was a few sheep short...
-
If it were just for the difference between pick 1 and 4 I wouldn't bother. It's the free pick that is the (huge) incentive.

Agree with everything written so far. I too am fully and unequivocally behind the club and the coach.

It's funny, watching that video gave me all the jumpiness and excitement I get when the team is up and flying, but when I watched the game at the time I felt sick the whole time. Thanks for the reminder about how footy should make me feel. And Jurrah. Great video DA.
