  1. He's worth more to us than anything he'd yield on the meat market.
  2. It would be almost fitting to miss his own sendoff through injury really. In my opinion he is one player we never saw the best of thanks to his body letting him down. Really hope he's able to get up for next week. Like so many others have already said, I'll be terribly disappointed if he misses the 150 milestone.
  3. I don't normally like to comment / pick on people's votes as I know they're completely subjective, but I can only assume your omission of Jamar was just an oversight. I find it very hard to believe that someone could kick 5 goals and not be one of the best 6 players on the ground.
  4. You're thinking of DaVe86 perhaps? The guy who posted the previews when we played Collingwood. Old Xavs is a massive troll.
  5. I agree. I've completely lost all interest in the changes now. My only criteria is that Whelan can get to 150. Any number that is divisible by 50 is a significant milestone IMO.
  6. I had to laugh at whoever suggested Bell and Newton. Two hacks for a young best 22 player. Yes, I'm sure PA will be rushing to sign that one.
  7. Lloyd Richardson Neitz Grant Hall Tredrea Lucas O'Loughlin Robertson Rocca Good idea.
  8. No - as per the rules, he HAS TO nominate if he wants to be eligible for a third year on the rookie list. He doesn't have an option. If we don't promote him this year, his options are nominate for all the drafts (which he would obviously do), or quit football. Only when he's been through all three drafts and remains unselected are we able to put him on the rookie list for a third year. The same applies for Jake Spencer. Either way, you're right in that the conundrum is the club's, not Valenti's.
  9. Not really. In order for us to retain him on the rookie list as a third year rookie, we have to delist him, and he is then required to nominate for the National, Pre-season and Rookie drafts. I assume it's done that way on purpose to stop clubs from deliberately holding on to rookies forever without giving them a proper opportunity. So we're forced to either promote, or give Shane the opportunity to ply his trade elsewhere / give other clubs the opportunity to grab him. Either way, it's completely out of Shane's hands.
  10. Rogue's question is exactly the question I'd ask. If a player isn't in the best 22, or doesn't have the scope for improvement (i.e. potential) to become part of a best 22, then for me he is just list filler. I'm not saying that applies to Valenti, but it's the right question to ask IMO.
  11. I wouldn't. For mine Davey is a proven good player. I wouldn't ever traded proven good players for draft picks, it's too much of a risk for not that much gain, even if you're talking about a high draft pick like 6. I'd trade a young player who hasn't reached his peak yet; that way you're trading speculative for speculative, rather than proven for speculative. Not sure that makes as much sense in writing as it did in my head
  12. They're the only ones from your list that I would say qualify as 'forumulation'. The rest are just your garden variety misconceptions.
  13. Why's it so absurd? That's exactly what Trent Croad did.
  14. I was wondering why it seemed to be taken as gospel that this year's draft is shallow. I must've had my head under a rock, thanks for that. I take back what I said about pick 50 in whatever thread that was in.
  15. I thought we were talking about small forwards.
  16. What happened to mo64 anyway? He seems to have disappeared in to thin air.
  17. I'd give up any of our small forwards for pick 6 (Maric, Wonaeamirri etc) in a flash. Shame that's not what they are hinting at though.
  18. Personally I'd be disappointed if we didn't use pick 50.
  19. I wish we could move past the ridiculous notion that contracted players can or will be delisted. You can scratch Bell, Bruce, Dunn, PJ, Meesen and Newton off your list.
  20. Brad Green is/was/has ever been soft.
  21. I'd be disappointed for Whelan if he got stranded on 149. I definitely hope he gets up for both weeks. Retiring on 150 would be fitting -- just a pity he won't be able to celebrate it with a win. All three should definitely play in round 22 though if they are able, especially given it's at the MCG. If we were vying for finals I wouldn't play players on sentiment, but in this case I would.
  22. I for one am not going to indulge you this time around
  23. That's because he's been the only one on the field every game! :D
