  1. Which player? It'd have to be a good one for Collingwood not to laugh us off the trade table.
  2. You missed a sizeable step before that. Step 1) Convince him to come? DONE - big bag of money. Step 3) Transport him here? DONE - Jetstar domestic flight etc Step 2) Conduct the transfer under AFL rules when his current club doesn't want to let him go? ??? I'll also add that I'm being VERY generous that the big bag of cash in step 1 got the job done. In reality I don't think we'd even make it to the mysterious Step 2, I reckon we'd struggle to stump up enough cash to entice him and stay within the salary cap, because it would take a lot. Players generally don't move for money unless it's an exorbitantly large amount (Scully like), and we won't be in a position to offer that. This idea is nice from a "sticking it up 'em" point of view, but is severely lacking in the practicality department.
  3. What do you mean "so"? Someone asked who Brisbane drafted and PaulRB responded.
  4. Draft Day 2009 (November 26th) is the highest November day by far which ranks as the 35th busiest day ever. Draft Day 2010 (November 18th) ranks 109th.
  5. Yes, the fact that nearly the entire sample set has been in crud years hasn't helped, as we went live in 2005, post-season. Of the years Demonland has existed in this form, the only year we haven't been completely "sheet" is 2006, and the site was much smaller then. Sad isn't it?
  6. I can answer that! The day that has the most number of posts ever was September 12th 2011 (1,199 posts that day. Couldn't you slackers manage just one more?) I'm presuming this was when Neeld was appointed? April 28th 2011 comes in 2nd while 29th comes in 4th place: this was the day of and the day after the West Coast rogering. July 30th came in third and the 31st was 6th - this was the day of and the day after 186. August 1st is also in the top 10 - I reckon if you added all the days up post 186 it'd easily be the top. The day with the most number of posts following a win was June 19th 2011, which was when we rolled Freo by 89 points last year. This day was ranked 13th over all. After that it's a whoooole bunch of losses then the next win is somewhere in the mid 20s (I've stopped counting). So there you have it. The average Demonland supporter moans a whole lot more about losses than he does celebrating a win.
  7. No idea who you're talking about, but this guy is a serial pain on here and he's been given the boot permanently (again), so I don't think things are going to get that interesting at all.
  8. Just to add to my quality contribution to this thread: what's this "Nic" stuff? I know three people who get called Nic, two of them are named Nicole and the other is named Nicola. You're a bloke mate. It's spelt "Nick".
  9. Howe was a ripping pick. Took everyone off guard, too, I don't think anyone on this site had heard of him before. Jeremy Whoe? :-)
  10. What the heck do you think the rest of us do? Divert our eyes off the game and on to the stats sheet? Those of us who love a bit a stat use them as a bit of backup for opinions we form through watching the game. Occasionally a stat will surprise me because it doesn't reconcile with what I saw - that'll make me stop and want to look again, but that's it. I've never based my opinion purely on a statistic, just used it as evidence. I think most people base their opinions on what they see.
  11. It's Jose Mourinho.
  12. Adam Fisher had a cult following on the old forum. That one could almost go down as a collective Demonland miss.
  13. There's also a ban button if there are too many problems. Just saying... ;-)
  14. BREAKING NEWS: Athletic freak of a ruckman taken at #2 in his draft becomes star.
  15. Any chance Barry took Cook because he thought he'd be a better footballer than Darling in the long run and had nothing to do with the fact that Darling wasn't a "choir boy"? I know it's a radical, out there thought, just putting it out there...
  16. I've permanently banned "no merger" and PM'ed his other alias. I'll leave it to him to out himself if he wants.
  17. As for resurrection, it could be done for free with a bit of labour from the tech heads like myself, but it all revolves around Tim giving someone the keys to the site. If he won't, the site is dead. I (amongst others) have everything necessary - the time, the skills and the will, but nobody's listened when I've put it up before. I've even done it before given I drove the "rebirth" of Demonland in 2005. Anyway, the more days pass, the more people will stop waiting for it to come back up. Truth be told, I think now's the time to switch the life support off.
  18. That's not its roots though Deers. When I joined (2003? It was one of the "down" years under Danners) it was very inviting; I basically signed up and started posting on the spot once I found it. There were some serious intellects on there too, some of the epic battles between Mick Coglan pre-board, Deefan and rono (prior to when he dubbed himself "The Great") were must-read stuff. Poor old Ron has been yearning for it again for years, that's why he's constantly on the lookout for his old foe. The cliquey boys club it has become is a very new thing.
  19. In what way? He didn't exactly get a rousing reception here either.
  20. He survived a game for the Casey reserves according to KC. Hopefully he'll have a run in the ones this week. I'm pretty keen to get him back.
