Won't fly without the Blease or Tapscott sweetener.

Roos, Clark and Mahoney all said that yesterday was the first time that Clark had discussed his intentions with the club. Young said Clark needed to have his physical and mental health assessed by the club, which would determine his suitability for a return. Training on a Misson programme notwithstanding, this sounds like baby steps to me, not rush out and put an offer on the table. The "might return but not at the MFC" stuff just sounds like management bluster to me. I'm not saying he will or won't return, by the way. The vibe I'm getting from all this is not positive or negative, more of a too early to say vibe.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Nasher replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
You would reject a guy based on hearsay of shouting at his partner and being rude to people, but would happily take one who has been found guilty of assault once and charged a number of other times. It would be fair to say your standards are a bit inconsistent. -
I think it's more likely that the club has not had the chance to do any of its due diligence yet because the dialogue with Clark has only just started. We're still talking about this story as if it's finished when it's only just starting. I have no reason to believe the conversation went any differently to how Roos said it did and I'd be staggered if money has mentioned at this stage.

People changing names probably doesn't help. 45hotgod to 45HG, I think "condemned 84" became Gorgoroth etc.
-
I thought you had very little hope anyway?
-
Wow! Here's a blast from the past. Welcome back mate. Your post seems to be missing a few hundred lines?
-
I'm not running the forum per se, I'm an employee of the forum on a very poor hourly rate. (read: volunteer) I don't normally mind people posting what they claim is inside info as people can make up their own mind what they believe, but on this occasion it has triggered mass hysteria that has at best been unhelpful, and at worst has been damaging. We've had to go on a post deleting spree as a result due to posters unleashing on Clark when this story is clearly nowhere near complete; and believe me his post got legs beyond Demonland. If it wasn't for the fact that everyone so many here seem to take what this person has to say as 100% fact, I wouldn't have bothered raising my objection.
-
Do you, truly, feel enlightened about "what's going on"? That there's zero confusion in this thread now? Let the bloody story play out. Then we'll all know what's going on. I wonder how many people have called Clark a "dog" or some such as a direct result of GNF's not really confirmed post.

3. Staying at Melbourne is still actually a possibility.
-
Heh. If I were James Frawley I'd be using this Mitch Clark poostorm to quietly sneak out the back door while nobody was looking.
-
I think it should never have been taken off the backburner in the first place.
-
With the right to an opinion comes a responsibility to know what you're talking about.
-
All I've noticed is a truckload more hand-wringing and personal abuse towards Mitch Clark.
-
Would like to point out at this stage that I never said I didn't enjoy reading said posts.
-
"Around 100%" is probably somewhere less than 100% - that is exactly my point. If it were me, I would not post something that was going to cause a riot among MFC fans unless I was willing to put my name and my sources name to it. Without that, I just don't see how you could treat it as anything less than another hypothetical. I'm clearly on my own (or in a very small crowd), so I won't carry on about it any further.
-
Guess I must be the only one who is skeptical when someone says "I talked to my guy at the club and...." in an anonymous setting. I've only read it on Demonland a thousand times before. Maybe if I knew who his contacts were and, indeed, who he was. I've no doubt GNF does know someone at the club (I don't think he's making it all up), but I simply cannot, ever, count on a poster I don't know as delivering 100% gospel. He deals in rumours, not facts, in my eyes. And I still question his motives. Carry on.
-
Do you not think the club has the right to tell its own story, once everything has played out? Which it clearly hasn't by the way, given that the stories in the media are conflicting. Anyway, glad GNF's post made you feel better
-
I wasn't. Surely he knew the supporter base would go in to meltdown. Let the club and Mitch tell their own story. If you have "inside info", keep it to yourself. He does not have the right to tell the club's point of view. You tell me - what good has come from GNF's post?
-
Even if he's right, I can't understand the motivation for posting it.
-
GNF has to be a troll. Why would you post that other than to incite a riot from demon fans? It worked.
-
Even if Clark does stay, what are the chances of him getting back to how he was before? He's coming from a long way back physically and mentally, and he's been out of the game for two years - this from a guy who was never exactly robust to begin with. There's a lot of water to pass under the bridge before I get upset. Clark going won't be the trigger point for me.
-
I read GNF's posts in the same way I read Nudge's. I enjoy them because they say things I like to hear and gets me pondering the possibilities, but as to actually believing them... Colour me a sceptic.
-
Before or after it was already the topic of mass speculation?
-
I agree rjay. I'm not sure what GNF has done or said to gain such implicit trust on the forum. Just another rumour monger IMO.
