Entirely agree. The arrogance and pig-headedness of the position taken by the pro-merger crew was disgraceful. I appreciate that Ridley acted in good faith, but he was not listening. The way they stacked proxy votes demonstrates that they were relentlessly pursuing their agenda, rather than having the members vote. I was there at Dallas Brooks, and I saw how many people were locked out of voting. There is no doubt that this was known to those in control, and they let that happen. Now that we have a training and growth venue, as well as financial stability, I wonder how these people can look at themselves. To those who say that it was a takeover, I say there is no such thing. We were going to merge the theme song, the jumper, the colours, the identity and the history. Hawthorn saved itself and us.

2 clear ones. The Robinson one and a marking contest. I have to say, I know a few neutrals who were watching the game, who were absolutely appalled by Watts today.

Dunn is a spud. He plays too often from behind, and does selfish thingslke that ridiculous snap out on the full. He doesn't contribute nearly enough. Delist for mine. Petterd has far more upside.

Couldn't agree more. I have been one of the Watts defenders. But I now cannot defend him. I think he has a peaheart. He does everything he can to avoid physical contact. Sure, he is smart and a good user of the ball most of the time. But I fear he will never become the forward we crave, because he has no appetite for the contest. Instead, he will dag off the half back flank and perform reasonably every second week. That Mitch Robinson one was simply disgraceful. Needs an attitude change.

I really don't get a lot of the retrospective Morton love here.. Morton has not strung together 3 or 4 good games. Morton hasn't strung together 3 or 4 good dinners FFS. Morton is dropped from a side filled with losers. What does that tell you? I agree with Moloney keeping his spot. I think he still has credits in the bank, unless he has revolted. But from what I know of Moloney, I think he is hurt by the leadership snub and in a form slump, so I would keep him in this week. As for Bennell, I think Neeld has to play him to see whether he does or does not have a future beyond 2012. I personally think he needs to be settled into one position, not asked to fill in 3 - 4 positions just based on having pace. Couch is too much of the same, but I agree with others that there was no reason to elevate him if we didn't think that he could fit into the side. Weird decision. It may never click for Sellar, but if it does, we will have a big asset. Again, we didn't pick him to play at Casey, so I think they have to play him to know whether there is a future. I think Colin has been shafted by the coaches. He should never ever have been rushed straight back into the side with no match conditioning, and with the expectation that he would perform under a new structure and regime, in a carp side. I think we put him under unfair pressure. Really, we should have played him through Casey and he should have only come back last week. Annoyed that Tappy isn't playing. Aaron had to go.

Demonhouse, this is a particularly unhelpful and unintelligent email. But then again, you posted it up for all to see, so I am going to assume that your insight matches the email. Don is a volunteer. He gives up a lot of time to do a job that most people aren't queuing to do. In fact, he is doing a job he didn't want to have to do. And he is doing it for you. Well he was, until you decided to no longer support the MFC. He cops media and public scrutiny on a regular basis. You might like or not like his approach. That's your choice. If you're a member, you can even vote for him or not. But for goodness sake, it helps no-one for him to publicly trash the brand. He has lots of competing interests, including supporters, members, sponsors, employees (players and others), Board, the AFL. He is not just there to please you. And to evoke the spirit of Jimmy in that manner, and accuse him of lacking conscience is simply pathetic.
-
Agree. If Neeld goes, the Board goes.

101 not even close to worse. We tried yesterday for the most part. IMO if we played that game against Syd 10 times, we lose by 10 goals average. Everything flowed beautifully for Syd yesterday. 186 was a whole different kettle of fish.
-
Yes, we chose him!!! But I am saying that he had a choice of 3 clubs, all who chose him.
-
You won't get a mutiny against a first year coach. I have to say, I picked us for 16th before the season and I still think we will finish 16th. Whether Neeld is the man for the job or not, Blind Freddy could see we didn't have a midfield, we lack leaders and we were always going to need to go backwards to go forwards. Neeld was going to get a job at any one of Adelaide, WB and Melbourne, and he chose us. I would say he is the least of our problems.
-
Wow.
-
What's wrong with Grimes? The guy has lost all confidence. Same with Trengove. Massive mistake IMO putting those two under so much pressure with the captaincy.
-
Disagree. I have met Don quite a few times, and he is a hard bloke not to like on a personal level. He loves the club, and is entertaining and engaging. However, I have some reservations about his presidency, and the "default" nature of the manner in which he is in the position. The two statements are not incongrous.
-
And when Moloney turns it around, I suppose you critics are going to just say nothing. People have VERY short memories.
-
Rubbish post of the highest order. Go barrack for someone else. Sylvia is 2 games into returning, and Moloney was honest and has more credits in the bank than most. Geelong may have had 10 players under 50 games, but we have more, and you might think about who the other 12 Cats are! We are 6 games into a new contested ball, defensive, elite structure, against one of the best games of all time, on their patch. We clearly had a dip today, just lacked class, spread, pace and structure.
-
Proud of the efforts today. We got smashed in the middle, and we looked slow, but we tried all day and showed lots of heart against a far superior side. If we do that against the Hawks, we might just get really close.
-
Am I that obvious? I better change to my other profile name!!
-
I am into club politics as much as the next person, but I have to say, I don't have the foggiest what you are saying!
-
I'm indifferent, but he has an asset we need, so I just think we should give him a go. But I also understand the sentiment of making them earn it (exceppt that there are blokes in the 1s who probably could go back to Casey for the same reason). And to become like WCE doesn't mean acting like them now. We don't have the depth in the current side of players who do the right thing, for starter.
-
Thrilled to hear about Jamie Bennell's attack on the footy. To me, he is the one of the litmus tests for Neeld's coaching. If he develops a hard edge, he will be a great player for us. If he doesn't then the test will be whether we tolerate or delist/trade. I hope it's the former. The way Blease goes about it - the chocolates or boiled lollies - sometimes these guys prosper in the 1s. Mitch Robinson is another one like that. Totally unpredictable, erratic, but can have an impact on whether games are won or lost. In a development year, I would be happy if we gave him a bit of a shot, to see what confidence does for him.
-
Blease appears to have had a good game at Casey this week, so I would be inclined to give him a go. He is pacy, which we desperately need. I think Watts was actually that bad against the Saints, that he must be dropped. He seems realyl low on confidence. I love JW, so I don't say this to kick him. Having said that, it wasn't an easy night to be a tall - just ask Nick R. In: Frawley, Clark, Blease, Petterd Out: Joel Mac, Watts, Dunn, Sellar
