Then we'll have to agree to disagree then. It's not the forum that's news, it's the views posted on it, even if they are anonymous or hidden behind user names. They're still valid and diverse views of Demon supporters, or are you denying that too? A major theme of Hanlon's Morton article was the divided opinion on Morton after five years, and Hanlon was quoting a valid source i.e. Demons supporters here. We can get insulated and forget there's a forumless world beyond. The fact that you identified the quoted post as #75 is neither here nor there if you are a reader of the Age who doesn't ever visit Demonland.
-
It's further down the article and there's no actual reference that it did in fact come from Demonland. To a reader of The Age, it could have come from any supporter anywhere. It's just an illustration of supporter's divided loyalties to Morton. I'm still not sure why quoting Demonland is bad journalism. Are we that disapproving of our own site? It's probably the best and most intelligent supporter site going.

So if I'm a journalist writing a piece on a player who is regarded in a very divided way by supporters, is it not legitimate to go to a 'quality' supporter site like Demonland to see what those divided opinions are? If not, where else should I go? He didn't quote any 'anonymous blowhards' as far as I can see. Here's the total text from the article that relates to Demonland: "Mark Neeld's spray on Morton'' became the hot-button topic on the Demonland online forum yesterday, after the coach delivered an immediate verbal assessment of the mistake as Morton passed him moments later, having come straight to the bench ... Yesterday, fans in roughly equal measure either backed the 22-year-old to come good, or made it clear that their patience had run out. I don't see how that's a great journalistic travesty.

So it's not reasonable for a paper to look at a supporter site to see what supporters are thinking?

Come on, Bruce is a parody of himself. As far as I'm concerned he can load up and go bang.
-
I'll have to ruminate on that one.

That's the trouble with Melbourne supporters. Wool pulled over their eyes and no fibre.

Trying to work out wether this thread is a load of old footrot.

Goals in "186"?

And I was just pointing out that whatever the choice the club makes, someone will feel disappointed at missing out. I agree ... you make the decision, then the fallout depends on how you deal with the disappointments, and the maturity of the players. Maybe some players will appreciate the ability just to concentrate on their football and not be burdened with responsibility ... even past leaders. It's not all negative for the non-leaders.
-
So as a coach, do you select players for their leadership qualities, or because they'll be upset if they miss out?

I think Roger is the only one they ever show in a pic without his mouth agape. I didn't know Novak or Rafa could actually open their mouths that wide. Horrible vision. No problems with the stupid little girl, just the amount of times they showed her, that goes for any WAG or groupie. Agree with you about Djokovic. I don't know what his 'attitude' is that is so bad. I'd sooner him than Hewitt, and if you were around when McEnroe was playing you'd think Novak is an angel..
-
That's not Novak's fault. It's Channel 7's for showing it so much. I got sick of them showing that stupid little girl waving the Spanish flag too. And Uncle what's his name. And both player boxes all the time.

Overcome your bias and see the match for what it was. It's already being listed on a lot of media as one of the five greatest matches of all time. Better than Ivanisevic v Rafter, which is one other outstanding match I'll always remember. Also get over the Djokovic hate. He is eccentric, funny and just a wierd dude, but now an amazing tennis player. So don't confuse his passion with arrogance. There's some history to his chest-beating reaction on winning because he has been variously called mentally and physically weak in the past. He also has breathing difficulties with some asthma-like stuff, allergies that he has overcome, and he got to the championship by beating Ferrer (#5), Murray (#4) and Nadal (#2), the last two in five-set marathons lasting over 10 hours total. It was by no means an easy ride.

Marrara would be about 12km or so from the town centre. The ground is on the northern side of the airport (entrance just past the airport terminal entrance). See the map. There are plenty of buses going to the ground from the city centre on the night. Car parking is easy.

Pattinson out for the rest of the series. That'll make it harder.

The Get Neil Craig thread just appeared though.
-
Is that before or after the "Should we get Neil Craig" thread?
-
I would like to know what the Demonland record is (in milliseconds) for the "Changes for Next Week' thread to appear after the finish of a game. Also, what is the betting (time in minutes after 2:15 Monday) for a 'Should we get Andrew Lovett' thread to appear, and who will start it.
-
It wouldn't be fun seeing Fev bring our club into disrepute. He's done it at two previous clubs and there's a huge risk in thinking he won't do it at a third.
-
We should consider him for 2 milliseconds max.
