How about Tippett for Watts as a straight swap?
Cheap Seats replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gary Rohan would make more sense. -
Not sure why im bothering Players sign to secure their immediate future. Things change. Like any contract settlement can be reached by an agreement from of both parties.
-
No doubt i hear what you're saying. But you or i don't know what's been said to the players, you're only speculating a negative situation. And how is it any different to a player being disgruntled anyway and giing to his manager? What the general public don't realise is these discussions happen all the time, like any employees performance review. Managers are always planning the next step or next contract or what's best for their client and will openly discuss with clubs. Who had said Goodwin's said you're tradeable to anyone but Watts? I don't think what you've said is unreasonable it's just a little over the top.
-
A little bit dramatic but i agree with you. In saying that untradable and traded for the right price are very similar. What i think @Roost It was saying is you're not going to trade Gawn for tippet as an example, but if you got offered say Lobb and Sheil you'd look at it. It's not likely but if an amazing offer came along. It's sensible is all I'm trying to say.

Ok just for fun Players I rate ahead of JW (obviously this is my opinion and is subjective) Hogan, Garlett, Pederson, VIney, Lewis, Oliver, T Mac, Gawn, Vince, Tyson, Tracc, Jetta, Hibbered, Jones, Hunt. I believe these guys have offered more consistent team contributions then JW this year. Cheers
-
The wind reference you're calling Goody out for... (which I don't even think has anything to do with him but whatevs) Tigers final v port - mistakes were made, laughs were had but now Cotch is a premiership captain
-
Trent Cotchin says hi - and is now a premiership player
-
Fair enough Can't say I really care - but there would be more to it then just an all of a sudden showing of the door. LIke I've said above, I just want 22 blokes who are committed on field every week. I don't care if that includes JW or not. Some of you guys and gals clearly do....

Hahaha relax mate. Actually I am a little bored as well. We need some more fake rumors or something to pass the time I assume crows will be in lock down for a couple of days. I think trade week starts this week? I should look it up (but cbf) I assume Lever will either re-sign or nominate a club this week. A lot of these deals get done mid year (terms etc agreed to)... Only Lever and his manager would know exactly. I find it just unrealistic noise sometimes with North and Saints etc now making plays.... If you think about it and you were moving employers, generally speaking it wouldn't be a spur of the moment decision. I'm not saying it can't happen, but I reckon Lever has already made up his mind. We will just have to wait to find out who it is. -
Are you certain we are kicking him out, or is that your opinion/assumption? Soul of the club or not, if you are an untouchable like you've touted JW to be, surely you'd want more consistency out of him??? I've said this in other posts, as long as there are 22 or whatever contributors each week, I don't care what their names are. And lets be honest, JW would struggle to be in the to 15 let alone 10 at the club
-
I don't think our views are too different.... I agree with a lot of what you've said. The whole Watts v Goody thing is very interesting and obviously sensitive to a lot of people. It seems like people feel the need to choose a side. And because of this some here are saying there is a divide in the club. This is the utter rubbish I really hate, because the reality is there will always be friction between players and the coaches. I can't remember where I heard it (I think it was AFL teams on Fox) where they were discussing of the 44 on the list - 22 will be happy, 5 won't care etc etc.... So all this Goody v Watts is really silly IMO. As for JW I am not buying in to the speculation, I just want like you've pointed out 22 or 24 committed blokes to play our brand, whatever that is designed by Goody and the leadership group. If that includes JW great, if not that is fine as well. People also tend to forget the Goody has been here at the club for 3 years, this wouldn't have been all of a sudden out of the blue decision. Until I hear any different and as long as JW is treated well which ever decision is taken, I don't really care what happens to him. That's harsh I know, but all I want is a committed 22. Maybe I have missed something but are we sending a message to JW or maybe he's used up all of his lives?? I don't know for sure, but lets be honest he hasn't lit the world on fire. A couple good games v average opposition.... There's no doubt he can play, but it's not consistent, and hes is 26 or 27 which is the prime for any footballer. For me personally in this whole saga, as long as JW is treated fairly and we get fair value (close enough to) and we can have 22 - 25 or whatever committed players to the cause I will consider Goody and the FD doing their jobs. But like you said @rpfc I think we are building a really good young core, and we need to keep adding pieces, and our turn will come.
-
It's all good mate. He is a very polarising player, and I am just a bit grumpy from a big day yesterday!!! Still can't believe tigers won. But what I did take from the game is the crazy amount of pressure applied by the Tigers. It's almost like footy went back to the Swans 05 flag. ( The Roos one, I think that was 05). I 100% agree we need outside skills, but you also need enough players to win the ball or pressure. I am not 100% sure we will get that from Wattsy. Would love a Wattsy fairytale - hell a dees fairytale, but as good of a bloke that Watts is, if we can get value for him I think it's best for the club and JW to move now. I honestly don't have a problem with the pro Watts argument, but good ol Demonland does lose the plot from time to time.
-
Unsure about being an outside mid @Abe, but from his early games him and his brother look like handy players.

I've got a feeling you're point is 100% spot on rpfc. We can only speculate but I reckon Goody wants to change the dynamic of the back 6 or 8 depending how they're going to play. Dees have been notoriously bad at rebounding out of defence and bringing in Lever helps change that dynamic and moves out our bad ball users to the opposite end of the ground. Who'd have though a bad field kick but solid 1v1 player in T Mac could be so dangerous forward? It also gives opportunity for guys like Joel smith to develop further as a 3rd string defender and not a KPP. -
What a load of speculative bs. Jack Watts is no better then Jenkins or Lynch who both got no where near it yesterday, which was due to the pressure, and because they couldn't win their own ball.. In fact I'd rate those 2 easily ahead of JW. If as per prior years teams copy the Tigers and go for all out pressure - JW will continue to get no where near it. No point being a great kick if you can't get the ball. Players come to and leave clubs every year.... JW is no different. There is no solid evidence who out of the MFC and JW decided to explore other options. Goodwin has said JW is welcome at the MFC and it's rumoured JW said he was getting kicked out.... So you're all speculating in accordance with your own agendas A lot of the arguments here are emotional rubbish... JW would be lucky to be top 15 player at the club. I am not going to get upset by a non top 15 player moving on
-
I have never said anything about the speculation of Watts Don't comment me in your emotional bs. I've always said if JW doesn't want to buy in to what the leadership group has asked of him, he should go. I have never said I want JW gone. I couldn't give a stuff if the 15th best player on our list decides to leave because it's still too hard on him being referred to as a no 1 pick or whatever his excuse is. Do not care if he or the club look are looking to moving on. I want the list to get better, that's all I care about. And if that's without JW so be it
-
Camdon Macintosh and Dylan Grimes are now premiership players..... makes as much sense as the statement above Just proves opinions are like assholes... at the end of the day who gives a flying
-
I think you missed the jist old fella.... options are like assholes I'm not bagging your opinion but life will go on with out JW and his accurate foot if he gets a kick
-
Fair enough. There is a fine line i agree. But at least it was interesting
-
Ill trust the FD decision mate. And personally I'd take t Mac over watts everyday of the week as a kpp
-
Tim smith Pedo T Macdonald Just to name a few
-
I still think there is a chance jw stays. I'd say there has been some.honest feedback from the club and Jack. No harm in seeing what's out there. It will hopefully fire him up of he stays.... but i also hope interest from other clubs is strong (in case he does leave) to get some value
-
At least those 3 posted interesting stuff unlike most of the crap on this thread.... Bring em back #trades2017
