Freo rep (missed his name, maybe a player manager haha will confirm) saying ballic deal will get done in next 12 -24 hrs for a late pick. JW deal holding things up
-
I understand your point @DeeSpencer In your opinion is the paying ""overs'" because we were in such a poor position and building from the draft had been so unsuccessful for so long? Also would this situation be reversed if in the next couple of years we do really well and players actually want to come to us - ie a Hawks for Geelong? I guess what I am saying, is overpaying now acceptable because if the risk pays off and you build a good team, in the future it makes it easier to get good deals?
-
Because if they didn't say anything then you'd complain about not being informed.

I've enjoyed you're contributions @Goodvibes, please keep them up. Tough decisions are never ever easy. But like Gutnick I am sure there are good reasons for every decision. You don't employ good people ie (Jackson etc) and not trust their decisions. The most interesting aspect about all this for me.... And I am not sure that anyone has spoken about this yet. But the FD are employed to make the tough decisions. They're jobs are on the line with every decision, every game and every player move and so forth. So for people to question the decision to trade Watts (which I think is allowed, but I'm saying where these discussion have descended in to spiteful allegations), it's something that needs a bit of substance before the serious allegations are made. The need to discredit people with no evidence what so ever is very worrying. I'm not saying people are wrong for questioning FD decisions, but they have nothing on the line. So without evidence these serious allegations just show how out of touch people are. Why would they (the FD) sabotage their own jobs and reputations?? Are erros made from time to time - no doubt, but to say they are not representing the Club's best interest are plain wrong, ans show the lack of knowledge in how management works
-
Correct, am agreeing with you @Goodvibes Without solid evidence one way or another it looks like Trolls have sucked some in. This is not a pretty break up by any means, but saying one side is more wrong then the other side is just stupid (without actual facts)
-
Agree, but the suggestion he was thrown out and told to never set foot in the club again is plain wrong. I've said this earlier but we don't know the exact reasons why he was asked to look at other options. As you said there were some suggestions in the media but I don't think we have the whole story.
-
I don't believe the club has ever said (like Stringer) that he was never welcome back. You can analyise it to death but the club just said look at all your options. They never said don't come back. The rest is media/demonland hysteria
-
100% Agree
-
Yes, it could happen Connors today said that JW has decided to move on, so it would be a surprise at this stage, but it is still technically possible
-
Agree mate I'm not saying the club has zero blame to this, we were very poorly managed when JW was drafted, and it is a shame. What I am saying that this JW debate at who's at fault is pointless. They are both equally at fault and it's time to move on.
-
JW has been sledged his whole career by everyone. He will continue to be sledged wherever he goes in footy. JW is an easy target because he was a No 1 pick who has failed to live up to the hype after 9 years. The factors as to why that is are not important - He chooses to stay in the system by signing new contracts Until JW plays consistent good footy he will continue to cop it, is that unfiar - yes. But if JW feels he can't handle it then maybe he can focus on his quite successful swimsuit business and give up on footy. No one is forcing him to play AFL. Because you're feelings are hurt doesn't mean the club has done anything wrong. Keep making up stories

God daym this thread is hideious

Got any hot sauce for this contribution? Or is it just a gut feel?

Hard to keep up with all the pages haha

This is probably the best post on this thread that sums up the situation.perfectly Regardless of all the bs and over analysis and speculation the above point sums up the JW situation perfectly. Without all the known facts to discuss other issues the rest of the Issues are pointless
-
We've discussed this briefly LH, I remember and I agree with the points you've made above and in prior posits. But you can't (and I doubt anyone else can) categorically tell me the exact reason why JW has been told to look for other opportunities. Also Connors this morning also said the club has treated JW well and he still has good relationships with those at the club. It's now JW's choice to not come back. You didn't put that in your post. My point is that emotion is running this debate not facts. JW is 1 of 44 players
-
The most interesting thing here @Lucifer's Hero is that the club (and I'm happy to be corrected here) has never said jack didn't train hard. They simply said he didn't meet the standards set without specifying what the standards were. It's Demonland, the individuals and the media who have run with the commentary on the issue. So called in the know posters running the agenda such as GNF. You've talked about handing the trade poorly LH, but look at the Stinger saga, apart from upset supporters and a lot of speculation the JW trade is no where as near as bad as Stringer situation. The continued debate on JW is fuelled by emotions and little to no facts.
-
There is no right side in this, it is what it is. You can't change this decision, you need to move on or sit in here and sook. There has been a lot of made up bs on this thread in defence of Jack and against Jack. I don't know the facts but I know a lot of the mud thrown on each side is rubbish. The continued robust defence from the JW crew should mean from here on they shouldn't say a bad word about any other player on the list. Why is JW more important then any other player on the list...? I'll give you a hint.. he isn't.

So goodwin is wrong because he thinks watts is soft? Wowzers

Schache's name keeps coming up form some very informative posters. I'd give the kid a chance but doubt we have the currency to get him. Anyone actually heard anything?
