No problems Sccop I did rush through my responses as I should be working - I could be Gonski as well if I get caught out haha I didn't think you highlighted at all why the club wasn't making a mistake by sacking Neeld apart from the performances have been poor and you didn't like him - doesn't matter will re-read later if I get a chance
-
Thanks sue People have the right to be upset with Neeld no one is happy where we are - But a few people do miss the point of why it's not a good idea to be reactional and fracture the club further Only the board can tell us who is right or wrong
-
You have to start somewhere Scoop - clearly that is not good enough for yourself No one is going to argue game day performances are not being met - because they clearly aren't. Believe what you want to believe - but I'm with Neeld that our list wasn't good enough and we need to start again. I don't really care that you don't How many examples of under development from the Bailey era would you like - Or is Cale's opinion of training standards prior to 2013 not good enough for you either? The evidence is there that change is needed - I don't care if you agree or not - Neelds had the balls to do it and this weak club will fire him for it
-
Haha thanks for the lols You attack my argument and rebut it with nothing more then personal insults and dodging the questions Thanks for wasting my time - Why should sacking Neeld on performance be the only measure? What do you know of the measures the board has given Neeld? You haven't been able to highlight to me how the MFC is not bowing to pressure when this is a media driven campaign and has been from rd 1? What do they know of the performance measures issued to Neeld in year 2? read this article - it is a good insight to the questions the board will be asking today - performance is 1 of the measures not the ONLY measure this is the point I am trying to get across (clearly poorly) http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-06-02/five-big-questions-for-the-melbourne-board I'll put it simply and bluntly too you Scoop Jnr as you don't seem to get it - There are more factors to sacking Neeld then just performance and you being upset with him. You have only discussed one factor that should determine if Neeld should be sacked today or not. It is my opinion that by using only performance as a measure it is bowing to media pressure and shows that this club is WEAK. Not only does it tell the media we are weak it tells the footy world we are weak and can't see anything through when we hit hard times or we will fold when the pressure is on - just like our team that you watch every week. Ask someone outside of the club, they'll tell you all you need to do is put pressure on the MFC and they'll crumble under the pressure - does that look familiar??? That has been at the club a long time before Neeld took over. Quite the impressive image we give and that is not an opinion that is fact in the AFL industry. Lastly, by people inside the club and Neeld saying that we are rebuilding does that mean they are lying to us in the media? What does that say to the outside world when we sack a coach half way in to a rebuild? Once again impressive image this club gives isn't it.... All to appease the media and supporter pressure (Big clubs don't bow to this sort of pressure)
-
The key fundamental to the argument Neeld shouldn't be sacked based on performance is if the direction Neeld and the club agreed when Neeld was employed was to rebuild the list and the culture of the club I am not going to do your research for you - Look it up yourself. If the agreement was to rebuild the culture and the list then Neeld has done nothing wrong (there has been errors but I am not going to argue [censored] for tat crap) So I'll say it again If Neeld and the board agreed to rebuild when Neeld was appointed - sacking Neeld now is a weak move by the club - this is why we can't judge Neeld solely on performance. That's why I believe you are off the mark Scoop
-
I think you need to keep reading prior posts to see I've said I agree on performance solely Neeld shouldn't keep his job But it sounds like you only read what you want to read I listen to what is coming from the club - I try not to make relational decisions because a number of times this year after games I've thought Neeld should be sacked. Chris Dawes as early as yesterday has said the club is on the right track - I listened to Brian Royal yesterday before the game - he said he thought the club was on the right track, it wasn't showing on the field but off field the club is going in the right direction - I could go on You have made your own decisions and that's fine and in your argument you state GWS and GC are poor sides - I think you better have another look buddy. GC especially are a quality side, so I am going to dismiss your opinion as it is just an opinion with not too much credit given to where the club is at or the strength of other sides. The simplest fact of the argument at the moment is - If the club bows to media pressure (have you seen the AFL website Scoop? Its a circus - this club is being treated like a side show). and don't follow through on their plans it is a weak act. Strong sides do not bow to media and supporter pressure. See cats, pies, hawks etc etc when rebuilding all hit bumps in the road NONE bowed to the pressure. If Neeld has been directed from the board to rebuild this club then bowing to pressure now will be a [censored] weak act from the club. I don't mind you have an opinion that differs Sccop but at least bring a better argument then you did. There are a lot of your assumptions in there I do not think that Neeld isn't' sackable - it has to be for the right reasons, but at the moment it looks like (my opinion) the board is bowing to media pressure. Otherwise all the inside information/noise from the club has been lies and that is far worse IMO
-
No problems Colin B - I agree the performance has been [censored] poor - but as I've said to P Man only the club can answer if Neeld is not meeting expectations And if they fire him due to pressure then we are all stuffed
-
I don't mind that you disagree with me P Man - I have no problems at all I think you make sense but I think a lot of your opinion is guess work - you and I have very little idea of what the internal expectation are. I agree they wouldn't have expected these results we are seeing now but like the coaching structure and all other things expectations would change as well. I disagree strongly with your argument and logic on this one. If Neeld was installed to change the club culture and install elite performance the MFC would be making a huge mistake by making relational decisions. If Neeld was brought in to the club to win games off the bat from 2012 he has failed and should be fired Tonight will tell us which is correct - if he's fired simply because of media and supporter pressure I believe strongly this club is WEAK and will remain WEAK
-
I tend to agree with what you are saying wyl Supporters are upset as we don't know the exact direction the MFC is taking - and Neeld has compounded this in his press conferences. Are we rebuilding - i'd pretty firmly say yes - has this changed from 2012 - probably 50/50. I think we were rebuilding but didn't expect a total list overhaul. I think there will be changes in the board tonight as well. Jackson etc appointed and a few removed. This may see Neeld go but as I've stated it will show that we the MFC are a weak club These changes won't make us a better club overnight that is for sure - At minimum I hope they can install people who do have the balls to lead this club out of our Dark Days..
-
Agreed - his public persona is poor But you can't categorically say you know what Neelds expectations were - only the board and FD know that. Because he is forced to explain himself in the media does not mean the direction of the club has changed.... Its pure guess work form you P Man We'll know if you\re wrong or right tonight though - If the board sack Neeld you're more then likely right - if they don't you're probably wrong. I still think sacking Neeld right now will show how we are and always will be a weak club. My reasons why have been highlighted in this thread. If Neeld has done wrong by the club he'll be sacked But if it is to appease the media pressure and supporters etc etc we the MFC will remain a [censored] weak club as no one has the balls to stand up. Strong clubs don't bow to pressure or get dictated to by the media or playing group or supporters. I won't even start on the environment left when Neeld leaves - surely no one believes good coaches will be looking at the MFC thinking this would be a good opportunity..... Again strong clubs - the MFC is not a strong club and tonight will prove it
-
Agreed On and off field I think Dawes will be good for Watts
-
Agree 100% Pates Love the bit about sticking up the reporters as well
-
That point there is a really good one WYL...... I reckon we'll see Dawes and Jones as captains in 2014 - unless injured can we afford to strip the young blokes mid yera? Surely there has been enough negatives for 2013 Don't tell me you are on the reality bus wyl Am joking around - I hate us getting smashed but it can't be all doom and gloom??? That presser tonight did give me some confidence as well, we need to continue the hard work......
-
Dawes comments tonight in the presser confirm that I reckon We are moving forward but it's going to take time - It's a fine line we are walking 95 point losses are not acceptable but the opposition were also very very good.... Hwaks always impress me live I was happy to hear tackles and 1% are up - surely thats a good indication we are heading in the right direction.... In saying that there is no going back to round 2 - Neeld and everyone should be accountable
-
This analysis of our list rpfc - would you give the same to a GC or GWS?? Because thats the level we are on - Should GC have sacked McKenna last year? THe media butchered McKenna last year - Fat boy Hutchy on footy classifieds argued till he was red in the face McKenna couldn't coach.... looks like a muppet now I am not saying you are wrong but do you take factors like we are young and are going to be up and down in to account? We are not the saints we don't have an elite midfield we never have. How do you come to these conclusions? Not to mention by sacking Neeld on borrowed time (your term) what coach would want to come in to this club and rebuild??? When the times get tought this weak club folds to pressure?? Great enviroment clearly a successful breeding ground we are promoting
-
Would it matter? In all seriousness though - how do people think sacking Neeld will attract a good coach? When the time get tough the board fire them? Who'd want to come to this basketcase?? Seriously do people really believe Roos and Chocco will be fighting each other for this job? Not to mention how are we going to pay $1 mil a year salary - Maybe a few players can chip in?
-
Some good points there as well Macca
-
That is a ripper post PM I wish I could verbalise my thoughts as well as you I agree 100% with all points - Neeld should be held accountable for poor performance but that wasn't today - the scoreboard wasn't a true reflection of his coaching. Hawks are a very good unit and will play deep in September Take cheap shots all you want peeps on here but when I hear from indsidte the club they believe ELITE performance is being demanded and being met off field - it needs to be translated to onfield and score baord . The board led by PJ and Mclardy either need to back it in or move on with Neeld 95 point losses are not acceptable - but understand where the team is at
-
Maybe.... but they installed Hird and it still took Hird the better part of 3 years to get them to where they are now (Was PJ in charge then?? haha not 100% sure) It's taken Hird and Bomber time and they're list was more advanced then ours So again I say- what's the rush? The board need to be strong and not bow to the media if they believe in what they're doing (im assuming they've given Neeld permission to rebuild / re-develop) Strong clubs don't bow to pressure - this club does it on and off field - 60 years of crap and counting If they believe Neeld should go they need to do it property as there are contracts and agreements the club need to meet - not just make reaction decisions (will we never learn from mishandling employees?)
-
What more can I say strong club vs us Plus i doubt we have a Luke Hodge or Sam Mitchel type on our list atm
-
nd shareholders in poor performing companies, dont want CEO's and boards overthrown? Members, supporters whatever you want to call them want a successful team that is going to be arround in 30+ years time for their kids to watch and they want to see premierships in their lifetime, not a decaying rabble led by the worst coach in living memory! Agree goodoil but as I replied to GNF we need to do it properly Contracts and words have to be kept - you and I have no idea what the board and Neeld agreed what the direction of the club was to be Bowing to media pressure does not solve anything
-
This thread to discuss other factors apart form Neeld so you're speaking in the wrong thread But you are right - there are a couple of things people are missing 1/ We need to sack Neeld properly - he thinks he is doing right by the club so clearly the board or someone in power has given him authority to do what he is doing 2/ This project was always gong to take time - not some fictional timelime where I am not sure what results you are expecting I do agree with the context of your argument GNF - Neeld will be sacked for poor performance But at least consider a few additional facts Neeld was installed to set up elite performance - that may not be on field, but I've heard a few people say that off field Neeld is achieving that (See articles and Choco Royal today speaking to the members) No power club is dictated to by the media or supporters see (Cats, hwaks, pies etc) In the simplest form you are promoting the continued weak culture of this club - something you refuse to recognise
-
What equally makes me sick is that so called supporters wish the downfall of a club employee and rejoce That is what makes our club a joke to the competition - not the fact Neeld will get fired in due coarse but the fact supporters wish for it Talk about supporting 60 years of crap and counting
-
http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-06-02/neeld-confident-about-future Maybe Neeld really is delusional haha - according to the media anyway
-
I'm not saying your opinion is wrong goodoil - you may be right But for me as a bigger picture point of view that is why we are a weak club - even if the bloke was one of the worst on the ground we still make excuses for them.... someone had to get subbed after getting beaten by 148 points there are no scapegoats And i still reckon there was a lot of Essenscum heckling when Watts was subbed
