2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
We're likely going to finish with pick 3-5 it seems. If we can't land Anderson, then it's out of Kemp, Serong and Ash for mine. Kemp plays both forward and midfield, and he's a great size for either IMO. When in the midfield, is he far more inside? Could he be developed to be outside midfielder? He's certainly got pace and kicking skills, though with his size it would seem odd to wind up an outside midfielder. He's right at the top of our list though Id imagine, as he could improve our forward half and develop to be a gun mid in time. Serong does seem a good safe bet as a small forward/midfielder. Definite Robbie Gray type, and would immediately improve our forward half. He's a quality footballer who just needs to build consistency and build his body. Ash I'm not sure about. Definitely capable as a quick rebounding half back, but I haven't seem enough of him in the midfield to know whether he could be the outside mid we're crying out for. If he doesn't have scope to be a midfielder, then I'm not sure he's the best option, as our backline is well stocked compared to the front half. In terms of potential, Kemp seems a level above. He needs to learn to find more ball, but he's got all the attributes to be a special player.

2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
No SA players are good enough to go top 5 this year, let alone pick 2. After beating Carlton today we’ve probably missed out on Anderson now ? Who suits us best at pick 3? Ash? Kemp? Serong?

When is the acid going to be put on Melbourne’s woeful season
This pathetic season is on the coaches IMO. The players for the most part have won the clearances and territory battle to win inside 50s, but are losing games. They’re doing what the coaches ask them to, but what they’re being asked to do is play a losing game. I wouldn’t be against a big coaching clear out come end of season.

A loss to Carlton ...
Maxy probably wont be able to do much about it from the sidelines. He’s highly unlikely to play.

A loss to Carlton ...
6 years worth of rebuild and we’re fighting for second last place. Pathetic. This club kills me.

Kobe Farmer
Based on that you'd think Kobe will wind up at Freo if he is good enough to make an AFL list. Wiz talking about coming back to Freo now after 11 years, getting involved there again, his love for Freo, urging people to buy memberships and support Freo. Kobe lives there, his dad is now at Freo again, he'll go to Freo. Shame as he could've been what we needed - a small forward with a bit of magic!

Rounds 18 to 21
And rightly so. We’ve been pathetic this season and are a joke amongst the league again. Brisbane absolutely embarrassed us on the weekend, thrashing us around the stoppages - the core of our gameplan apparently. It was insulting and shows how far we’ve fallen since the second half of last year. Until there is a big change in gamestyle, every team in the league would rightly pencil in a win against us. Even Carlton this weekend would fancy themselves after knocking off Freo in Perth minus Cripps and Curnow!

Target 70,000
Members have done their bit. The club has not. Disappointing result for all.

I’ve been banging on about Noah Anderson all year. As sad as it is, we might actually land him!

Possessions
It’s a fair point you raise kongwacker, but I think it’s more to do with lack of structure and opposition pressure than our players possessions not being damaging enough. Clarry is the perfect example. He’s my favorite player, but sometimes he makes me tear my hair out. Some weeks he absorbs opposition pressure, takes a tackle, holds the ball high and passes off to a free team mate. Other weeks he plays hot potato and handballs immediately for no reason and just shifts opposition pressure to his teammate. It comes down to that oppo pressure, but also our structure. He doesn’t want to move it quickly because he doesn’t trust our forwards to contest etc. Solve our structural problems and teach the players to absorb pressure and not [censored] the bed. Our possessions will then have more meaning.

A loss to Carlton ...
Carlton will be without Cripps and C Curnow. If we lose to them it will be up there as one of our worst losses in decades. Absolutely gutting how this year has turned out for us. Pathetic.

Casey Demons v Box Hill Hawks - Round 13
They’re currently 7th, so middle of the road this year. We’re currently 11th and not great this year.

100% correct. We don’t know the ins and outside of meetings and testing etc, but there have been clearly drafting errors in the past where an obvious talent is overlooked and then blossomed.

Round 15 Non MFC Games
Still annoys me watching Miers run around and tear it up for the cats. Many of us on here were crying out to draft him after he kicked a bag at under age level in finals. He was still available late and was clearly a smart drafting choice. Recruiters often look at players performing well and think they’ve hit their ceiling and dismiss them. If a kids performing well at underage level, then he’s worth a chance IMO. Look at Sydney Stack now performing immediately too! Miers is a small forward who applies pressure and finds the ball. He’d be our leading goal kicker right now in the opening season of his career ?
