He has long term aspirations to be a coach. He wants to play again next year,” Thompson’s manager Michael Doughty told The Advertiser. “We are working through it with the club, it has been positive, there are some things that need to play out.”
  2. The fact that we let him go in the first place and the player he became will always hurt.... The bloke has a fantastic football brain and as D9 said, his training habits are elite... I would definitely entertain the idea myself!
  3. Just thought I would pass on a bit of banter that I heard over here in Adelaide on the 5aa sports show this afternoon... Regular segment on a Monday arvo where old man Cornesy joins Mark Bickley and Stephen Rowe and have a p155 and moan about how much Victoria hates SA footy and how both local teams went on the weekend.... blah....blah....blah... But at the end of the show Cornesy was saying that Simon Goodwin has apparently made contact with his old mate Scott Thompson and asked him if he'd be keen for a 1 year playing contract for 2017 with a view to moving into a coaching position in 2018.... Has apparently been offered a low ball 1 year deal to stay a fruit loop We lost the bloke for the best years of his career obviously but wondering what peoples thoughts are on the possibility of a reunion... Cornes did go on to say that his family is settled in Adelaide but all three blokes agreed that it would be a fantastic career move and a win for Melbourne ...
  4. Looking forward to listening during my evening walk tonight... Can't wait to hear Mark Neeld announced as the mystery guest!
  5. A season of ups and downs again for the diehard Dees supporters, albeit with more ups than downs, could well be remembered as the one that got away. With everything to play for in the penultimate round the players just didn't give a yelp and looked like rabbits trapped in the headlines... I mean headlights. A young group, lacking in the leadership that can only come from being winners, have tried hard all year and given their supporters moments of hope and belief with the odd WTF thrown in every couple of weeks. With a solid victory, against a Carlton side that most predicted would happen, this young side would've gone into the final round down at the Cattery oozing a confidence that had not been imagined some 23 weeks earlier. Although some may argue that a side that lost to Essendrug in 2016 is no side that deserves to be playing come September. After all is said and done this young side with potential dripping from every orifice will go into their last game of the year with an "I don't care" attitude (in a good way) that could shock the club right down to its foundations. Run, dash, carry and ferociousness will be plentiful. Followed by poor handballs and simple skill errors that give this match the potential of being one of two things.... An absolute ripper where a young up and coming side with nothing to lose come out and make a statement that tells the competition they better get ready for the next 10 years because you all 'bout to dance with the devil.... Or.... A bully beats down on a scrawny school kid who thinks just because he has new shoes that he is entitled to strut around the playground like he is the ducks nuts. Here's hoping for the former! 6. About to head off on a late night hill climb and this is first up on my playlist...
  7. Update: Cops weren't interested and told her to speak with the school. School will call her if someone comes to them over next 48hrs. If not the money stays with us. Good result for honesty
  8. OK, thread can be moved/closed/deleted... It has served it's purpose.... Thanks to all who have contributed.... The $300 that my wife found just after picking the young Demon up from school will be taken to the local cop shop tomorrow.... The kids will be present during this exchange to encourage them to always "Do the right thing" Clearly I would've just gone to the pub and loaded up the Sportsbet account but alas.... Times have changed
  9. I initially said I am happy for it to be moved to a "non football thread" Thanks for your input though.... If I knew it fell out of your pocket I would have spent it already
  10. This is probably the single biggest factor in MY allowing it to be handed in as young Will is well aware of what his Mother found on the ground... And as for Jesse, on current form I may even get change
  11. I hope to God you mean his brother Tom and not.....
  12. Ethan's post #21 and Chook's #26 have both reaffirmed my deepest love for this forum! And this whole thread has given my wife a disturbing insight into where I hang out during the "me" time in my life
  13. OK.... Thanks for all the responses... My wife really wants to just keep the money but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that some poor family at our kid's school may not be eating dinner this week ...........Actually, let's be honest... I'm the dodgy ba$tard that wants to keep the cash but my wife is an amazingly honest woman and will not allow that to happen.... So she is off to the cop shop tomorrow I am slightly disturbed by this as we have watched Underbelly together before!
  14. Please help.... The wife and I are having a moral dilemma... I realise this is not football related but I need as much exposure before the mods rightfully shift it to the General Discussion section
  15. Both played most of the game at Casey Fields
  16. Did I read right that he kicked 5 on the weekend in the DL? Although, that is the issue... It was in the DL! I hope he makes it as for some strange reason he is my 7 yr old son's 2nd favourite player behind the #29 on his jumper
  17. This makes me smile.... "Can you imagine what Gawn is gonna do to us!? If anyone is still alive in SC - lock him in for Captain.......Melbourne will smack us.......absolutely smack us...... " Who's coming now??
  18. If those at Tigerland were realistic folk then they would look at themselves and feel sorry for the sport!
  19. I am going early and saying.... OUT : Jeffy & Harmes IN : JKH & Matt Jones We will run the absolute pants off Carlscum on the weekend!
  20. Aaahhhh.... I thought it was #$hittestListEver I forgot about #FreeKickHawthorn Apologies
  21. OUCH!!! MY EYES!!!!!!!!! How were we not premiers that year??
  22. He will be our Bont over the next 12-24 months.... The media will fall in love with the way he goes about his footy and he will impact games more and more as his tank grows... Exciting times... My 3 in order on what I've seen... 1. Oliver 2. Petracca 3. Brayshaw Although on what I saw on Saturday night, Brayshaw looked amazing at times... His tackling was ferocious when it was needed and his 2nd and 3rd efforts were fantastic! Trac just looks like a beast and with a full pre-season under his belt could be anything... But Oliver has an X factor about him that sends blood to a region of my body like not many red-headed earthlings have been able to in the past...
  23. ANB is the one that I am not certain of his position in the team... I think he needs a run of more than 1 or 2 in a row for us to see exactly where he sits at the top level... Was in good spirits during the warm up... On the boundary giving $hit to Bugg when he was having shots... I think he offers more than just being a fringe player and I for one hope that he has a ripping pre-season and breaks his way into the side on a more permanent basis... Clubs need players like ANB to keep others on their toes!
