Peter Jackson: Anything's Possible
Some of the fan-made Youtube clips reviewing the bad times reminded me of what he did back when he took over. He sat next to Neeld in the presser after he fired him and said we're dragging the competition down. He was there for arguably the worst time, just before he got Roos and the new Dawn began. He's gonna be missed in his role.

Gerard Whately is a Moron
This. Something's missing now that he's changed jobs. The cynic in me suspects it's to do with his new employers pulling strings. It also probably doesn't help that now he can sense he's the go-to-guy for footy media now. When he sets an agenda he sees it play out over the media landscape in a way other footy writers only dream of. Maybe it's gone to his head? I know when he was climbing the relevance ladder he was much more impressive and reasonable minded, especially when it came to sifting through complicated issues that made people too passionate to see a solution. Now that he's on the top of the tree though, there's been a shift. I reckon if he drops a few of his gigs things might improve. That many sports and that much air time... it's gotta dilute your product.

Definitely. And the quality was there to see. Loved seeing him get furious at himself and everyone around him after one of his picks. Kept taking the game on too.

I somehow ended up with Garroppolo in every league. I'm not jumping off him just yet. He did some good things. 250+ yards against Vikings is nothing to sniff one's nose at.

With Rodgers, one of two things happens. Either they scan and reveal minor bruising and soreness that calms down, everyone is relieved and says wow what a performance, how tough is he.... OR.... it's something more major like a strained MCL or whatever, in which case that game takes on even MORE mythical proportions. If it turns out to be the latter... then my god, how did he DO that?

Chargers should be disappointed. They're stacked. Dallas I think will fall away a bit. Dak and Zeke were really mediocre, and i can't see where they turn it around. Hawks losing surprised the hell out of me too. That news will likely get lost in the Bucs/Saints and Packers noise.

I have the mother of all close games in fantasy. Gurley to come for me, then Kerryon Johnson and Rams D to come for my opponent and I'm 6 points adrift. It was game over until Cobb caught his 75 yarder and suddenly I was alive. Cobb = old faithful for me.

Thursday night I was thinking 4-0 would look good. But my goodness, Tampa just smashed a team many have picked to play in the superbowl. Eagles spluttered too... Lots to play out here, and what was an easy win is now nothing like that. Ravens and Vikes, yeah... Vikes everyone knew were good. Ravens looked awesome... But for me it's KC I was most impressed with. Second year QB playing like that. They look a bit scary.

Yeah just saw his post game presser. He said he'd have more answers on Wednesday, but that if he still feels ok he'll play. Half time, with no news, and seeing his face as he was on the cart coming off, and seeing how Kizer was playing, it was season over for Packers... Now it's the complete opposite. I can't remember a game that had such wild swings in implications... from doom and gloom to the best comeback of his career (I think... in terms of score).

A lot of us picked the Steelers, right? Doesn't get much closer than that.

Changes v Hawthorn - Semi Final
Yeah... I guess I've showed my hand there. Not a big Maynard guy, myself. Not in the current list, I guess.

Changes v Hawthorn - Semi Final
Ah. Yeah nah, he's way too out of form. I think what I meant was that you'd toy with the idea, as he has played some great footy with us and may be seen as a future core player, but in the end, you just can't. Makes me think, actually, about the guys we have who are missing finals footy. Hogan probably the big one as he's a massive part of our future. Lever as well, though he's played in a few finals as recently as last year so it's not as pressing. Stretch and Kent the only other potential best 22 players who you'd want getting the experience. Not too bad, really...

Changes v Hawthorn - Semi Final
To each their own. I don't see it that way, that he's out of form. Spargo's been good. Earned his spot, I think. Unless you're meaning Hunt? In which case, yes, Hunt in would be a mistake.

Changes v Hawthorn - Semi Final
Past glories I spose. In Garlett's case, he has played great footy in his career, and for us as recently as last year when some had him in AA calculations. Hunt likewise, if we're serious about blooding youth they would think about exposing him, even though he's out of form. I had him as a core player coming into this season... I actually have Smith not too far off that point too. But yeah, this isn't a making up the numbers thing... win next weekend (which we absolutely should back ourselves to do), and we're in a prelim.

What they're saying down at Moorabool Street
Even on Bigfooty, which is a cesspool, they're absolute gentlemen.

Changes v Hawthorn - Semi Final
Was thinking about team changes before the game even started. lol On the day, I remember thinking Spargo seemed out of his depth. Too young and small, and too early if you're serious about winning a final. After watching the replay, he obviously didn't get a lot of the ball, but when he did his inside fifties were good. Something we lacked pretty badly. And on further reflection, even if he plays pretty badly, he HAS to be there. These starting 22 players need to get finals experience. Tyson was fine. Particularly as the game wore on. Anyone suggesting Smith or Hunt come in have forgotten that neither has played a good game in the seniors this year. No change for me.
