Farewell Jesse Hogan
Wouldn't it be nice. He could kick 80 and win a coleman and you'd see "sell high" threads starting about him. Interestingly, even in the wake of some joy for Melbourne and their biggest fan in the media, it seems Kingy has been on the D'land boards... https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/08/20/should-melbourne-entertain-the-thought-of-trading-jesse-hogan/

Yeah it was ridiculous. During the AFL off season I have "The Fanatic" playing which is Philly's SEN equivalent. It was hours of joy every day last year. There were seasoned old 30 year radio veterans in floods of tears for weeks. Was amazing.

That is true. And an interesting perspective. Nah. Makes it all the sweeter for me. I reckon Hawks fans would have a slight yawn on with how they're doing right now. They'rs so used to success. For us, I love to think of how hard it's been, because it's in the past now. Having said that, I'll forget about it pretty quick once finals actually start.

Oh mate. We've been copping it for a long time as demons supporters. One of the reasons Philly's fans are known as psychos is cos they were at their wits end with the abuse. I dunno if you can say dominant unless you're talking about just Divisions. The superbowl vs Division thing was an obsession in all Philly sports and has been since I discovered the sport. You have to remember they've been beating up on the Cowboys for years, and every time they did, the 'boys would remind you they've won 5 and Philly have won none. And their were in recent memory. So dominance is a matter of perspective I think.

Gerard Whately is a Moron
Not demonland's best work. But more entertaining than some...

Gerard Whately is a Moron
Kingy started on us on 360 before last season. When we missed in round 23 last year he was disappointed but flew our flag again and again. He's basically a demons supporter now.

NFL
Yeah but the joke was that the Eagles made a lot of playoffs and did squat, never won a flag in the superbowl era. Demons also played more finals than anyone in the 2000s except for Eagles I believe. So we had a relevant but mediocre period, much like the Eagles. You're right though. Winning your Division is fun in a different way than winning superbowls. I wish the AFL would bring it in, but the footy media would be unbearable about it.

Gerard Whately is a Moron
We all know everyone loves to hate the range rover driving Melbourne supporters, so I was expecting oppo supporters to grumble at us that we're acting like we just won the flag. But so far that hasn't happened. I really think most fans are cognizant of what we've been through. I watched the game one-out with my WC mate and even he said he was as pleased to lose as he's ever been.

Good fun. He's been on us since early last year.

Now's the time to tune in to SEN for Gerard's backpedal. Kingy taking his victory lap.

James Harmes take a bow.
Nothing this guy can't do on a football field. Attack, defence, midfield, handball receives, gets his own hard ball, marking target, crumber, press forward, can take a screamer, kick it from 55, touch kick, shut down small defender, rebounding small defender, 4 quarter tagger, has enough pace to run and carry and does it often, and at full pace can find a leading target even under tackling pressure (as he did today to Melksham on fifty). I've even seen this guy play in the ruck. He's done every one of those things and had halves/full games where he dominated in most roles. As far as specific skills, and the athleticism needed at AFL level he's got the lot. Could really be our Stevie J. There's an argument to say he's our most talented player. Well... Maybe not most talented, but most versatile. And all this from a rookie. The one thing he's never had is consistency. And he's now found that, too. And at age 22 after just ticking over the all-important 50 games. THIS is why we blood youth, folks. Harmes is already a success story. Now if we could just get ANB up to this level.

It's crazy. Two of the least successful teams going round, my two. Now look.

Reports are that he didn't go down to the rooms, just went to bench and stayed watching. I think it's the same thing that's been keeping him out of action in recent weeks just flaring up again, but not needing treatment. I'm hearing conflicting things about Wentz. They're saying he'll play, but that he wont get touches in preseason. On one hand I'm like, yeah, sure... He has to play this year for us to be any chance at all, so any game he plays he won't have had much time. Week 1 is as good as any. On the other hand I don't want him to struggle. One big positive was Sudfeld. They're high on him at Eagles. It's clear Foles will have a job, either in the next 2 months, or at seasons end, and Sudfeld will get a lot of playing time any time Carson gets hurt.

If there was one AFC fan in here and we had to pick a team for him, Jags would be it. Lots of people picking them as AFC champions. We're spoilt here in Dland.

Jeeezus.... When you hear Jesse got hurt, after Eagles last season, you have a whisper of a hope. If Foles can do it? Weed can do it surely... (and win a Norm Smith)? Then reality hits and I find myself praying we can beat the Eagles like we did last year. Tmac, with no Jesse, and then somehow, impossibly, they give us SOME joy. I still have hope. After all, noone had less reason for hope than Eagles fans after Wentz (Hogan) got hurt. And if they can do it in the richest league in the world, they can do it in the AFL. (Or at least, make finals). But never mind the red and the blue. Let's enjoy some of that strange... We are on for one of the more exciting NFL seasons in demonland history. When was the last time we had storied franchises in the NFC making history? Rodgers making his glorious return, Wentz, Dak, Goff, Garroppolo, Ryan, Newton, Stafford, Cousins, Eli (I know you love him Macca), Wilson, Winston, Smith, Trubiski, Bradford/Rosen... oh and there's that matter of Brees.... That's it. I mean. That's 16 SERIOUS QBs. The closest thing I can find to a QB storyline that isn't interesting is the Cards Bradford/Rosen situation. Which sounds suspiciously close to the Eagles situation 24 months ago,.. This is gonna be a good year boys.

You couldn't write a better script mate! @Gorg with his Rams. You with your Pack. Me with my Champs. We may never enjoy this kind of relevance ever again. Your matchups are exactly right though. I can't wait to watch my Eagles, obviously, but a very close second are the Rams... I'm a Gurley lover... And Aaron and his Pack will never disappoint. Next is the Texans for me. Big Ben, AB and their shrinking wasteland, the GOAT and Belly... It's gonna be a theatrical year. The PERFECT antidote to the worst of all disappointing demons years. I'm pumped.

NFL
Oh man. Imagine a Browns/Boys match. Not gonna happen cos they're opposite conferences... Probably for the best for Dez. If he's ever gonna return to his best, I daresay it's not gonna be in the NFC.

Of course he will. Will he do anything? Now THAT'S the question. Welcome back!

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Well. Not really. A handful of nutty posters aren't worth tangling with. Almost noone on demonland is looking to learn things, everyone just wants to post their own drivel and disappear. Like suggesting trading Hogan and playing Weed. lol

Eagles got smahed, but noone really cares. Found a backup for the backup in Sudfeld. I feel like he'll be pressed into service. Actually looks like he has the goods to be a good backup, if not a superstar starter. First team D did their thing then went off. Not much to see here really... Probably the biggest thing we saw was the enormous 81 yard punt by an ex-demon, Cam Johnston, who looks like he'll be the punter for the season.

VALE JARROD LYLE
My sentiments exactly. I don't care for Maher, or the new SEN... But there's no resisting what you heard this arvo. Brutal, the lot of it, and Maher has my respect for confronting what seemed pretty difficult for him. You can't help but tip your hat.
