  1. There won't be "little fanfare " , there will be cold hard hostility. Those familiar with "King".... There will be masses of Low People in the shadows. They will be wearing discernible colours marking their allegiance. The temp will start dropping immediately they disembark and they'll be watched by a large , very black crow. Randall will flag his legions to amass at the anointed alter of sacrifice that Sat evening. The Demons will have to bring Hell to fight this lot.
  2. Maybe said dog should take charge of that, as whoever it is currently is barking up the wrong tree.. Theyve had a while to attend to this. Not a new " shortcoming " in our weaponary
  3. now thats ambiguous without context...feel free to apply some. Am curious
  4. doesnt hurt anyone for THAT game.. You need immediate penalty otherwise its a cost v prize scenario.
  5. I like Adelaide as a town ( its just a big BIG town ) Bit hot in summer but rest of year very temperate to visit and enjoy its wares. Football however is a whole different entity there. I thought bringing Port in might have diluted the bile but has only served to embellish their appetite to devour any non pie-floater eating interloper. Where we have come to accept our losing as invariably part of our makeup there is no such ability or desire there. There relevant Football clubs know this. They eat their own should they falter. It borders on terrifying. In a way I respect that. They wont ever settle for losing. They wont be keen to make any exception this Sat. We have to come out like bolters in the first. Havent done that yet Have to play 4 qtrs of Footy. Havent done that yet Have to play on the road ....Havent done that yet ( let alone win away ) Cant take naps ...Havent done that either. Big game coming up
  6. Adelaide , like any observer will know we are weak for the first qtr Overwhelming us early makes for catchup footy. We nearly got the "has-been" hawks ( but should never have been chasing ) There will be no catching the Crows. Itll be a Hitchcock frenzy !!!
  7. There may well be that as an ideal. I temper it however. It's Adelaide now fronting up at their feral home having to make recompense after an unacceptable aberration.
  8. I know it's borne of spin , but really, what utter tripe. No disadvantage Fmd , if this even hints at the thinking permeating the club, we're heading for a belting or 6
  9. I dont actually LIKE this ...of course....but fear it may be accurate.
  10. It concerns me that we have only one model in our brand. Ford , Land Rover , BMW etc etc...all are BRANDS,,,,they all have different cars to suit different jobs. They are all instantly recognisable for their Marque. A lot of parts are interchangeable also. If we're going one size, one shape, fits all , we're in for a lot of disappointment. We need a range of 'games' to suit the day.. All discernably "Melbourne" ...of course. Speaking of courses, it'll be their course and they know it back to front.
  11. given the umps are 'wired' the off field umpire ought to be taking note and firing off a 'stop play, award free to the team without trespassing runners" Would nip it in the bud instantly
  12. the replays commentators were noticing it too. well, blind Freddy would have. Hawthorn play unsociable football, they also play street smart. Hope Goodwin took note
  13. And there it is all packaged neatly in a nutshell, the inconvenient truth So we now have to step up .... and do something we haven't done all year. Play 4 qtrs of football. The caveat, in a fashion, is you dont have to play brilliant football for for qtrs , but you have to be there abouts, there in the contest, mind in the game. Scarey and sobering to think we've yet to do that. Finals....fmd , this season could get very ugly if we aren;t careful and resilient.
  14. Careful LH you might be opening a door to the 'room of truths' Funny how we can see some things and go.." f#@! me ...what....why ?? " What you highlight goes to a notion that I have, and surprise surprise it won't be that popular. I speak of Jone's leadership qualities. Without doubt there is more in footy these days to leadership than tossing the coin ( which as an aside we lose ridiculously often ). There's the 'around the club" stuff. The off field mentoring etc etc. That's all well and good but all I want to see in a football team captain is someone who can instruct, rally, inspire and direct his underlings to step up and /or change on the day. In a military analogy , and as this is battle ( of sorts) , why not: I see Chunk as a very capable platoon sergeant. But not it's Captain. Captains get the nuances, the small things that can tip one way or another.. Hunt understood and Jones didnt. Thats not to make Hunt a potential captain but for me it makes questionable why Jones is!! Jones and Viney are both get in ggrrrrrrrrr Me-Break-Lines gladiatorial types. . But savvy ?? I know I speak heresy, lol but we arent clever in leadership...it's all guns blazing type of thing. That only gets you so far.
  15. I actually have no problem with any who thought we might. I do dilute my view to that if it's nought but MFCSS shining through. If however some genuinely thought we'd lose and had reasons..well, you might well have been right. I take aim though at the notion we can with hindsight, or a tempted dalliance into revisional interpretation , start including all these 'reason; why we lost didn't win. Prior to the game it was about about improvement, our game, our form and conversely Hawthorns lack of form and tiring list. Suddenly it's their experience and premierships etc. How convenient.
  16. I find it fascinating and almost amusing how post game a trend is to look to stats and or reasons to substantiate the how and why we lost. To use slightly different, but more poignant wording it's really about why we didn't win. The vast majority , people, media , sports folk expected US to win. Lets not lose sight of that as we clamber upon the excuse train.
  17. Out: Expectations In: A lot of hard work
  18. Of course missing finals is a failure esp when the club has stated that was its intended goal of 2017. Shuffle shuffle...... shuffle shuffle
  19. And im sure wherever they are that buffet will have plenty of Don smallgoods, Hutton hams with Patra OJ to wash it down. Wonder if theyve got their Gloweave shirts on to boot ( Julius Marlowe ) Youre with your beloved Edna Lou ❤️
  20. So i ask. If being aware and actually doing it seem two disencoupled attributes, who wears it ? There's obviously no simple fix as Simon, im sure , is just smacking himself in the head til a vision of the answer appears. In the meantime the Mighty Dees get jumped more than the hedges at Warnambool !! Be laughable if not our Achilles heel !!
  21. A psych might suggest they were indeed unwinnable as the trailing team hadn't the mental capacity/willpower to do so. Now that is very unsavoury and unlikely to command curry. It's also probably the truth.
  22. There at least two occasions I observed where the Melb player guarding the mark was literally pushed away just after the hawk kicked. Once literally in the back. Gob smacked no free given.
