  11. Seems there were Layered leather as well as wooden stops, nailed to the sole. Kinda interesting as a topic unto itself...."our footy boots !!"
  12. youre right...nails... I only remember the other side..the prong. Your mentioning of the inspecting of boots rings a bell
  13. from Wiki Australian rules football[edit]In Australia, the studs on Australian rules football boots are traditionally referred to as "stops".[1] Prior to modern molded plastic soles, these were often replaceable screw-in wooden studs. Now mine weren't screw in..they had prongs that were nailed into the sole and I imagine bent over inside with the innersole protecting Lots of different types it seems
  14. They were wooden stops Bbo.. sort of a ply. Cork ? Be fn useless
  15. 56..they were wooden BBO and they were replaced twice. The last time with those new fangled placky ones !!
  16. Ah the Weideman name. Some of us here are old enough to remember Murray. A pest of the highest order. Could he play. When i was a kid i remember only really one aspect about Collingwood. The stab kick. It seemed like they ALL could kick. But this is an adult trying to remember. Murray Weideman was a player. He was BLOODY good. My first pair of footy boots were Ron Barassi 'specials' . In hindsight they were like a workman's boot with wooden stops. Yes..wooden. But i always consider my first real sporting footy boots to be a pair of "White Diamonds".... more the thing they were Murray Weideman signature White Diamonds. I loved those boots..and even as a kid. .as a diehard Demon i still begrudgingly respected Weideman. It worries me that he'd want to go home. I'll trust the footy dept (now) The DNA suggests hed be something.
