There is...and only ever shall be 1 Melbourne Football Club. the MFC and they said we had no brand Its a bot hard to negate the use of "Melbourne" or "Football" or " Club " but we can and have stopped ( as we should ) anyone getting too close to our identity !! well done Dees.. stuff them all... we're the only MFC (Melbourne Football Club) in town and damn proud of it

Its all quite interesting .. I'll refrain from trying to read anything into why them and not those..etc. what i do see is a very different MFC from times of old..or even not so old. Here we are acting like a professional outfit, we're being proactive taking out of the equation all things that can be removed. we must be starting to do a few things right if the interest, respect and anticipation by some of these young recruits is anything to gauge by. Doesnt seem to far ago that many, including some of the media who ought to have known better had us as the cesspool of destinations and now we have top recruits effectively airing their own and counter views on this. The club has changed/improved. I think we'll see this reflected on the paddock as self belief is as great an influence on results as ability. again...interesting go dees

really ?? Id give him an A+ for game day...It took a whole lot of shrewd and cunning to maintain than win/loss

Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map
beelzebub replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dee-luded...if you or I , or indeed any of another handful of people who can see beyond the nextminute had any affect on the decision then yes it would go downto Clyde , at least ( serving the BlueRinse Hills lot..lol ) etc. The bean counters at spring St arent reknown for any sense or the ability to understand public transport..( do I realy need to spell it al out ) -
Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map

The problem with a Casey Fields station as such is that in all likely hood it would be as CaseyScorp suggests an event only station. If this is the case it would be hard to justify the business case of building th estation, rehabilitatinf the track , stinging the wire and fully upgrading the level crossing for a part time station. It would be argued that there is a station all but down the road. Again.. put the East Cranny/CaseyFields location adjacent to the B_C road but dont cross it and a lot of money is saved and all things are catered to. -
Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map
beelzebub replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
they can always build another stand ...!!!! they can continue to develop it as per need. . If they are really smart they will design a 3-4 stage projest. This will enable them to put into place whater serious services infrastructure is neded and build the rest in stages.all harmonious..not higgledy piggledy !! Lets just get it to 10-15 ..with AFL sanctions.. get us out there for the lower attending games ..then go from there. Unlike the great farce aka Bubbledome.. you wouldnt constrict the design from the outset. -
Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map

Now this is purely my understanding of this arrangement;I believe the AFL is unable to develop a new venue within a certain proximity to Etihad. It woul need a negotitated release to do anything at E-Gate.. or the Gov could do it off its own bat. The Gov would have no such restrictions as it can and invariably does what it likes. The same such would surely apply to casey. If the Gov thought it a worthy and important enough venue and sporting infrastructure ( of overiding signicance) it could push ahead with grants and such with all but total disregard to what Collins and Co might think. There are ways around al lof this if the will ( political and otherwise ) are there. As others suppose..Collins would rather a 20-25 cap venue out at casey than one on his doorstep -
Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map

The Station if and when built will probably end up as shown...but keep in mind this is purely as a result of previous planning and the assumption the line would continue beyond. In that vein the time taken to cross a rail line is less if the station is further away from the crossing. i.e less impact via boom gates. its very unlikely now that this line will continue on beyond cranny East. Staging and other requirements may result in a differing style of station with two "platforms" a la Frankston. Physically one but two sides. That and Staging sidings. Cranbourne has been earmarked in the past but nothing is in concrete..until it is.. Given teh EOL status this station wil require greater carparking than currently apportioned.. Some sort of transit connection with busses etc.. . All this is far betteerr caterd to with teh land available near B-C road than cramming it all in where the current proposal suggests. Again. Cranbourne East is likely to be an EOL..not a through station as originally thought. Im sure the old folks dont want a station ...and all that might attract on their doorstep either. You telling me kids cant walk a few hundred metres??. The current vogue is to design transit exchanges.. given the facilities it will serve... where I suggest has ( not just bias ..but logic ) far more advantages than where dotted in at present. Run for council ??? you nutz ????? :D ( not in that area anyway..lol ) -
Comments of another poster in a different thread regarding the sighting of engineers hovering around a rail crossing on the Cranbourne Berwick road promted me to check the DOI site. Here .Vic transport plan mentions the extension to Cranbourne East in a very lacksadaisy style way. Its very short on info regarding timelines etc but it is happening. This will be fantastic for the progress and continued growth of Casey Fileds as well as any lazy footballers who find driving a pain ..... A reference here Cranbourne East-Wiki in the Transport section makes mention of it being open by 2015...make of that what we might. I would have thought that eminently possible. With so much promised transport wise out west the Gov will have to sweeten the pot with something out this way. There is very little likely hood that the Leongatha Line will reopen for trains. It will be interesting to see whether the ideas and thinkings go beyond Cranbourne East.. If not then they can for all intents and purposes pull up the rail at Cranbourne Berwick Rd and locate a Station on the north side having access from it ( C-B rd) This page shows the suggested platform...where is Casey Fields but it ( for me ) makes more sense to push it along further bettering access to the Fields whilst preserving usefulness to other Complexes nearby. A Pedestrian overpass ( over C-B rd) would provide safe thoroughfare for the throngs that will one day swarm on CF..wonder if they will have enough common sense to build one !! All these little things falling into place

seems only timely to remind all just gets smellier by the day !!

There has been for quite some time a swagger and air of superiority about Carlton, that they are above the rest of us common muck. Think its hilarious that its all crumbling around them. They obviously cant get the messages to stick with their players. . I too ask wheres the great man Judd..and coach in all this... very conspicuous by their silence. ahh couldnt happen to a better bunch of tossers.. such a culture......all mouldy !!!!!!!!!!!!

I must be missing something... Gawn was picked for his rucking.. its these skills and abilites that he was demonstrating with the dragons. We have issues with our rucking depth, we have players in place to develop and assume the roles of goal kickers. You dont take a 208 and growing ruckman and put him out to pasture at FF. ..yes thats exactly what youd be doing putting him there.. He is a tall ...very mobile unit...hes not a forward.

Could not think of anyone who represents such an entity better than yourself. Take many things out of context.. paint a picture that suits your painfully obvious chip on a shoulder attitude and parade it as such. Be an apologist for all things mediocre by all means.. some of us are quite frankly sick to death of this sort of rubbish. If you dont like that were a different and better organisation than before...just say so. hypocrite? you definitely are

Brocky was never a Scotty !! Brock on his day was/is a pretty fair player ( not too many of those days however) Thompson on his day was/is a very very good player. A big loss for us when he went...imho

Tbh...have no idea why Healy is still there...must be contractual as has hardly raised a blip on the radar. Hughsey is simply not going to threaten Maric for a spot. Aside from differing particular leanings to positions Maric has shown ability..and will now show poise and smarts. Hughes, for mine still needs to show he can step up.. might be our next 4-6.

Tend to agree... it ( the premise ) is supposed upon one particular event( choice) resulting in another particular outcome. That without establishing any bona fide links as to cause and consequence. The reality is its hardly this at all.

hmm.. we finally get a real looker of a prospect as a ruck to add to the depth in this position ....and we want to put him down the pointy end ?? As others suggest Fitzsy I think was drafted with this kind of role in mind perhaps. One caveat....lets just see how they all evolve... often they tend to pick themselves into positions once they find their feet and develop proess.

Demons rise to new challenge by all accounts a very successful time had in this conquest... but as an aside almost...anyone else see the irony ??? egads....these downhill skiers are climbing the mount !!!!!!! go Dees

ya know...Im starting to think the truth is so far in amongst it all it doesnt really matter any more.. Hes doing the hard yards with us and setting a pace by all accounts. he's at least saying all the right things.. I actually believe ( almost..well..just about nearly ) that he is really pleased to be with us. i get the feeling we 'fit' each other well. I think his experience will bring about a bit more confidence ( not necessarily ability ..just confidence) in the back end. So many goals are started these days with rebounding off of the half back line i think he might be quite instrumentle in many to come. A bit more pace than some. Looking forward to seeing him play.

amazing how many lose sight that it is...all said and done..a career.. a job. My comments were quite matter of fact.. ..yo dont like them..thats your opinoin...not a fact. His speech didnt actually line up all that much with his parting sentiments...so which ever you prefer ..is your perogative. he was a good player.. fantastic fo rsome years.. He was also his own worst ambassador and a lazy player at times..more in the latter years. My rose glasses are off.... doesnt mean I didnt enjoy many of his games.

pretty much it. some of these lads forget at times they are rewarded handsomely for the opportunity to play their beloved game...when ya times up...its up...go gracefully with head held high and say thankyou....and so will we. act the goat... and we'll soon become disenchanted

Might we see more of Brad Miller in the ruck next season?
beelzebub replied to Keyser Söze's topic in Melbourne Demons
just thoughts: Jamar is obviously first cab off the rank and in so needs an game day -offsider. PJ and Martin have both some experrince in this..and more importantly ARE on the senior list. As far as season oh-ten goes all others become somewhat speculative. Im not sure if the pecking order is necessarily as simple as suggested. I would think if fit..and with some similar improvement as shown before injury then Meesen might edge out or at least give reason for consideration alongside Spencer...no lay down misere there. Gawn will need a good year in the magoos and 2 preseasons ( this and the next 0 before really looking to press for selection. This I might think occur more in 0h-leven with the likely hood of PJ being a casulaty of the next pruning season. Im not sure that the FD has pidgeon holed Fitzsy as a ruck.. ...but its an option...but not tomorrow..or for a while. Miller as a ruck...umm....ummm....welll.......ummm.. probably not !! not unless he does a Bradbury !!
