  1. I wonder what Neeld wants ? Hed obviosuly be part of this decision youd think..
  2. I couldnt see the Kid coming in any full time capacity but as a specialist forward consultant , I dont see why not. I wouldnt be so quick to suggest he knows nothing relevant about the game of today. Prowling the forward line and being effective really hasnt changed much in recent decades. A lot of the rest of the game might have . Goals are Goals
  3. Well, maybe it wouldnt be as hard as we might think. His background and first interest outside of the actual playing of footy was Sports Science. Its been his hallmark really. Should he join Melbourne he gets to be part of something special, the day to day pressure of being the "Coach" might seem a happy memory of old. Who knows.
  4. Well, WYL thats pretty much how I would see it. Strangely enough not everyone sees things my way Hence the question. As I understand it we were into getting Craig prior to the availability of Misson.. So I was just wondering whether that becomes a plus or minus. In a way hopefully Craig could see it as an opportunity to help be there at the set up of the leagues premier health and fitness facility.
  5. I think the club is showing it appreciates sometimes you have to open teh purse strings a bit , but at the same time be aware of relative values. Thats right isnt it Tom If we get him and thats the want of the club then all well and good, if not. No harm no foul . Id be curious to know whether the idea of working with possibly one of the leagues best fitness gurus would be an enticement or a hindrance for Neil ?
  6. Im with ya
  7. Im not so sure that it wasso imaginary Ted. . We struggled for years to get anyone to look at us long enough let alone bang our door down wanting to be part of us. It wasnt that long ago we almsot didnt have a sponsor.!! Ah yes.. all a '"creation"
  8. which ?
  9. One player I think would have commanded a spot on Neelds Whiteboard is actually Bail In the spirit of the Op.. who might be those that get penciled in. Maybe Ill begin with those who I think would be 'inked ' in: Watts, Jurrah, Martin Trengove, Moloney Bail, Jamar, Gysberts, McKenzie Frawley, Garland, Tapscott Those id wet my HB for : Jones, Sylvia , Green , Rivers, Davey, Bartrtam, Bennell , Petterd, Grimes, Wonna; these need to step up and address aspects of their games. The likes of Blease, Strauss, Howe, Gawn , Fitzy etc are still projects in progress All others obviously have something, but what. The up and comers probably have more to learn and inprove upon than the likes of Bate and Dunn etc Some are for the scrap heap theres just no other nice way of puting it. Some will carry through this year as the powers that be can only churn so many and a few still retain that enigma qulaity about them.
  10. maybe...lots of lovley money in those recycled pape bags hey !! lol Im still really a bit flumoxed as to whether we really need Craig. Is he essential or a bit of a "cherry on top" ?? We have a fitness guru. we have caoch who seems quite able ( in terms of ability and nouse ) . Dees even have a back up in expanding Mahoneys role. Im rather curious by it all to be honest. The club seems to be ticking all the boxes currently somaybe this is another box. Maybe Im just not used to this club being at the forefront of things !!! lol
  11. it would beg the $64 question... can he coach/teach ? I ask in light of say the likes of West , who as a player epitomised all we could hope for in a midfield player but , and I can only judge by results, hasnt seemed able to convey it. would Cam ? I'm only asking an interesting suggestion
  12. Burns is staying put by all accounts
  13. excited might be a stretch ( just a litlle) but genuinely encouraged. and probably all of the above !
  14. probably feels sorry for us after '88 I know I felt very sorry for myself afte that game.... somethng to do with amber stuff
  15. Might be just me but there seems to be a change in the air as to how anyone ( within the footy world) regards us now. Suddenly the MFC isnt that supposed lepper colony. People WANT to be at Melbourne. Good !!
  16. Id welcome him with open arms.. A very smart football brain.
  17. If Maxie doesnt get a look in at the Sainters I wouldnt mind him crossing the tracks to us either ( Thats Hudhgton ) . Is well regarded at the Filth.
  18. Josh Mahoney has been side stepped/elevated to Football Manager Royal from Defence to Senior midfield with Greaves as assistant West has left the building
  19. Possibly no right or wrong..... just a difference of style in regards te makeup and game plan. Some teams work to a big tall bloke others utilise a more mobile multitasking type of attack. horses for course
  20. The Melbourne Football Club has had the brroms working overtime as it seeks to rebuild and revitalise its football dept. Senior Coach Mark Neeld has been busy with the clubs honchos in rebuilding the coaching dept. Only two major spots are up for grabs; Forward Coach and Defensive Coach. I must confess Ive heard few runours or read much to say who they might be. Are we toget a left field blow in or some accomplished established professional forn another club seeking to join in the pending glory that wil lcome ( ok piled on a bit thick there ) Any whispers ? Any suggestions?
  21. Nupp. Lyon was wel land truly gone before we apparently even contacted Mission. Mission up'd and left in a couple of days. The SS T Kilda is taking on water me thinks
  22. Andy.... When we post using a link to a page or some external url we used to be able to label it. Now we only get the actual link addy. Possibly a nothingness but looks untidy etc. Its not as informative either in th econtext of a posters message. Just mentioning (smiley face..lol )
  23. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/cashed-up-blues-to-woo-craig/story-e6frf9jf-1226143497660 The Bluebaggers are after Craig now.. He certainly ownt be short of pocket money !! lol
  24. Im thinking ( possibly hoping ) Neeld has an effect on everyone esp about half a dozen Again , he seems to have a history or player-whispering Nathan's downfall often is not the quality of disposal, but the logistics of it. If he can find a clam and a confidence to weave that extra second ( or part thereof ) to weigh up a better off-load he will take huge steps. A little less crash bang and a little more poise.!!
  25. Im surprised youve read as much as yo do and missed the point Ive no problem with the notion of role players etc. All players are not elite, all have a role to play. The supposition is thus as simple as many are going to rate our players higher than they ought to be, irrepsective of the nature of them, irrespective of their role etc , many just arent as good as some suppose . In this they will, when looking at the put this player or that player in position. What Im saying, is I think Neeld will not be so quick and he has already intimated this by suggesting there are quite a few holes. Your talking to the wrong bloke Fan if you think im concerned over Scully going.. The most overhyped player weve had on a list in years. Good but not what many suppose. Anyhow weve done him to death...hes history. So in summation...to simplify.. I know we have players who might be say.. A B or C level..having different roles. What I suggest is that many of the supposed A's are really A- or B that the B's are B- or C level etc. Neeld will want them better..whatever role they have to play
