  1. Good idea I think, I’m sure as much about mental strength and resilience as physical capabilities
  2. on what medium did pert say that the yarra park plan - which was not under his stewardship either, fwiw - was doa? i only heard him on sen and they didn't talk about it at all it was mostly about the coaching changes (on which he was very strong, despite king reckoning we've treated mccartney like crap) and the gambling issues currently all the rage
  3. be interesting to see who plays well at vfl level tomorrow until then, presuming our key players are back... IN: lever, hibberd OUT: petty, j wagner
  4. robbie gray remains my favourite non-demon just so good with the football
  5. puddy tatts have a terrible post-bye record so yes, the pear are a massive chance
  6. i liked jones behind the ball for me that's the role for him for the remainder of the year puts severe doubt in lewis getting a game again; in some respects it'd be 'nice' for him to come in this week to play a defensive forward role on hodge...but i can't see him playing unless he has a blinder in the vfl
  7. could be richo's last quarter in charge right now
  8. was very good today i thought what're the odds the mrp suspend him for the high hit on walters tho?
  9. 6: Gawn 5: Plugger Mac 4: Viney 3: Oliver 2: Lockhart 1: Frost
  10. I think my bake of T Mac on the game day thread turned him back into Plugger Mac for the second half! Nice to get a win; still a lot to work on
  11. A Preuss who can run out 2 and a bit quarters would be more valuable than T Mac who stops running midway thru 1st quarter
  12. either hill would perfectly suit our system, but as others have said the balance of time and effort put into ed langdon clearly has us chasing him, whereas the hawks have put in the work to recruit brad hill back for at least 18-24 months if stephen hill has decided that he wants out as a result of his brother also leaving, i'd happily have him if we can't get brad, even though he's four years older and clearly prone to injury
  13. hammy went ping, delaying his 300th to a game of far more significance than the one against gc17 next weekend he was absolutely dominant as a forward
  14. i'm presuming cos we didn't have the capacity / desire to match a significant three-year deal for a player who was so injury-prone and regularly failed to perform to a required level
  15. kent got offered a significant three-year deal at the aints; he'd have been a fool to sign with us by comparison
  16. i'm confident he's the sort of player that can work his way back into form cos his workrate is excellent
  17. from all reports it seems like there's a clear 1 and 2 and then throw the blanket over the rest
  18. His inside mid work in the last month has been terrific - it’s where he plays his best football We don’t need another inside mid
  19. Writing on the wall for McCartney, clearly Now has no development with players, just with the assistant coaches
  20. Bet was 5x the size of heath shaw’s outlay on his skipper scoring first goal in a game eight years ago So, by rights, he should cop a $100k fine and be suspended by 40 weeks
  21. i've been hypercritical of gus for a while now, primarily cos his ball usage and his defensive efforts are less than ideal for a player of his undoubted ability it's the same as dom tyson at the moment - he's a good inside midfielder but he can't play any other role, which limits his flexibility and the approach that we can take to using him in a different role as required i'm not certain that trading him would be the ideal scenario as he, ideally, simply replaces the role that jones plays once he retires at the end of 2020 as a plug-n-play certain first-start mid rotation to lose dom, gus, and jones (presuming the latter retires at the end of 2020) in three consecutive years would reduce our option of inside mid stocks significantly over a three year period if he was to go, you'd want it to be for something quite valuable, and i'm not sure gus brayshaw = ben brown plus north's second rounder is a fair deal, but it's what i'd want, at a minimum
  22. no it wouldn't, i don't think gus and our first rounder and gw$ would probably ask for more for kelly in order of preference to jettison from our best midfield talent i'd go: brayshaw viney harmes oliver gawn and i'd have petracca ranked btw viney and harmes, as i think he's clearly more talented than anyone bar oliver and gawn on that list
  23. you'd get more for gus
  24. can't see t mac being dropped interesting to see who mans up on hogan as he plays mostly up the ground and working back, which doesn't suit may as a 'last man back' approach
