  1. Sheeesh. Of course its us. What other club does DB have any insight/network into?
  2. I have heard that not only Judd, but many of his immediate family, are in the employ of the cardboard empire. Even including Mrs Judd (not the WAG). Rort?
  3. I like Dunn and hope he stays but let's be serious. He occassionally doesn't commit to the ball in the air and his kicking is AFL average levcel (non elite). Happy with his intensity and application generally though. And BTW player managers are about as trustworthy as used car salesman. They have a vested interest in creating opportunities which can colour their view of situations. I know some want out, but 15? Please.....and even if 15 did, then they can go. Neeld will not sacrifice his professional standards and I like it.
  4. Howe 1 and 2. Nicknat (great grab btw) 3.
  5. Good luck to everyone facing issues. Everywhere. Non-MFC people included.
  6. Change is difficult IRW. People never embrace change until the pain of changing is less than the pain of doing the same thing. I cannot see how we can stay the course we have been on since 1964. I am weary of losing and I am not alone. There will be good calls and maybe the odd bad one in this change. I love Flash and wish him all the best. But if he chooses to leave, then so be it. That would be the soft option for a player at the end of his career. He could equally choose to stay and embrace the change. I hope its the latter.
  7. Wellingham was excellent tonight. Mitchell belted Swan (if it were a 1 on 1).
  8. My top 4 would be Wellingham, Goddard, Russell and Young. All 4 would walk straight into our 22.
  9. I posted elsewhere that I am proud of the support shown by the MFC to Liam Jurrah. As a club, we have conducted ourselves with enormous integrity and sensitivity. FCS there is no manual for how to handle the issues that have confronted the club off-field this year. If Neeld's setting standards causes anyone to reconsider their commitment to the club, then leave. We certainly need to develop a more ruthless culture but hopefully not at the expense of being the type of club-citizen that we have been throughout this whole drama. Good bye Liam.
  10. Wish Neeld would start using non-Collingwood similes myself. But at least this one is understandable. I like it.
  11. What a stupid thread! If anyone posts, they care. If they don't, well, they don't. Discuss yourself.
  12. Bartel with reasonable pace would be a better comparison. High half forward with a roving commmission (i.e. read the game and do whatever you reckon matey). Howie will be a star. Kids will want to wear his number.
  13. Haven't read the thread but just have to say - Watts has been lamentable the last 3 weeks. Soft as butter at the ball in the air, looking for cheapies in space when playing loose. The backline experiment has failed. And he either turns up bigger and tougher next year or he will not make the grade. Frustrating!
  14. Spencer had 20 hitouts against Jacobs - 2 went to advantage. His work away from the ruck contest is quite good, but he needs to work on tapwork over summer. Seriously, Sandlilands would get leather poisoning against Jake at this stage. Has Tynan's pace improved? If not, he will not go past Strauss (not that he is all that quick either). Fitz should play high half forward. His running is a feature so playing him deep will help the defender. Thank god this is the last game for the year. Bring on trade week.
  15. Was this observation recent? Did you ask "when"?
  16. HTF could they possibly have the arrogance/lack of intensity/awareness to do stuff at less than 100% effort? As 16th in the comp/3rd worst side. Wow.
  17. As you possibly know, for me its mostly on TV but with that caveat..... He seems like a combative type and good hitup player from deep. Maybe a bit "same/same" as Clark? Would he inhibit Fitzpatrick's development in the same spot? Will Fitz even make it? Not sure about the engine or sideways movement but very good depth I'd have thought as a lead up type.
  18. 4 very good one grabe contested marks in the first half tonight. Now to work on his set-shooting. Definite keeper.
  19. Welcome AD. I have spent a lot of time in NE US for work and have a similar passion for the Red Sox. Now we all know about the curse of the Bambino - and MFC have our own version of that. Since Norm Smith was sacked in 65, we haven't been very close to a flag. Our golden child Barrassi followed him out the door in 70 and its been mostly downhill since then. Suggest you look into this because (a) the parallels are interesting and (B) like the Red Sox in the early 2000's, we are finally on a course to break the drought. The ride will be interesting, but we are absolutely on the right track (finally).
  20. He is halfway there. He has enough confidence to go hard when off the ground. Just needs perhaps a little more composure once he is in the air. I reckon the coaching staff will punt that they can teach him that. And on that basis, they will extend him an offer. Agree with all above, he also seems like a good honest bloke.
  21. At the game on Sunday, I commented to one of my sons that I was surprised at how hard Sellar attacks the ball in the air. As you say, he needs to start clunking some but as a potential pack splitter or deep gorilla forward, I think there is something there to work with. I'd certainly give him another year. And to Bluey's point - I'd trade Martin now while he retains trade value.
  22. I really like Kennedy - he reminds me of a quicker (and tougher) version of Shannon Grant - I would be quite surprised if he was still available at 13.
  23. Lynden would not be in the top 60% if players in the competition (would be happy for someone to produce some sort of stats here - maybe supercoach points/minutes played?). So the questions for me are (a) can he find a spot where he can get the best out of himself and (B) can he improve to become, say, top 30%? On the former, he has had lots of different roles and opportunities to achieve what he has. On the latter, for me, I just can't see it. We must aspire to be elite on every measure. Lynden isn't elite. So I'd trade him.
