Well done Hibbo. in other news anyone know why Oliver didn't even make the 40?

Mate, I'm exactly the same. I was at the gym last night and even seeing Eddie on Millionaire got me down. My friend wants me to go with him to the Geelong V Richmond final but the MCG and Yarra Park surroundings feel like ground zero to me right now. I've watched no footy shows, my regular morning SEN listening has been changed to Triple J where I now have to hear those folk talk about what to bring to a zombie apocalypse. It has made me realise just how much of a void this sport fills and having to avoid it completely sucks. A broken and lost person with no bearings at all.

Melbourne's Communication and Online
layzie replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
First I've heard of that! I've never had an issue with a CEO of our club having supported another club but there is this expectation that they relinquish those allegiances and throw all emotion into their current club. Could sort of understand if it were just casual staff but the head girl? Just would have expected a bit different I guess. -
To be honest, NFL coverage in this Country is not great currently. You got 7Mate who often whiff on the right games to show, nothing on Fox and then the Sun/Mon night games. The Redzone channel is a slight reprive hard when you're fans like us who want to analyse a whole game! Think my method will be to 'find a way' to obtain Niners games and watch them on Mon night.

Couldn't have put it any better really

Whoa dude! Call the kettle black
-
Well yes exactly, it already has been found out. Expecting a lot of tinkering
-
Unfortunately I've satintised myself from all media right now. But interested to hear if you do find anything
-
Whether it is that round or not, I want and expect to exact 'revenge on this mob when we get them next. Won't do anything to make up for it but I want and expect it anyway

"It shouldn't be the end, it should be the beginning"

As the president and figurehead of the club, there really isn't anything else he can say. I thought it was fine -
Considering the season hung in the balance in that game I'd find it surprising. Whether or not its true, this group certainly needs to take stock and realise they haven't done anything yet. "Are you ready" tweets and Jeff Garlett taunting 3 time premiership players when we are behind on the scoreboard. Its a bit much

Its gonna be a long few months waiting to go through all this again and that's what irks me the most about it all. Its all well and good people telling us we have plenty of upside and 'should make it next year' and all of that. In my time of following this club and sport in general there is only one mantra I live by: When you get presented with an opportunity, you take it. If you don't take it, then you live with the consequences. Sure, we might be real good next year, we might also get 6 big injuries in the first 6 weeks of 2018, we might find our game plan is found out and the commentary is all "Why aren't the Demons as threatening as last year?" I am hopeful that things will go right for us but time and time again its usually been a false dawn followed by a fall from grace. Either way its going to take a lot of time and waiting to find this out which is even more painful. You just had to make it Melbourne. That's it. Make the 8 and then we could have re-focused with fresh perspective from business class. Instead we're jammed down the back in economy with all the other no hopers complaining how life is so hard.

It will be the biggest challenge of all with this group. No doubt about it. Will it actually burn in the players guts? Or in a month or two after they've had their footy trip and time mended the wounds will it just go back to being a job and half hearted efforts are acceptable again? The mental aspect is not going to be easy to overcome as we all know.

And this is the danger of having co-captains in my opinion. At least when there is one we are left with no doubt as to who to look to in good times and bad times. This pick and choosing stuff might be new age but it just doesn't feel right for a traditionalist.

For what its worth right now, Demonland is the only thing keeping me from completely melting down and breaking everything in sight right now. To be around people who are feeling the exact same way, I know its not comforting or anything like that but it helps. Even if only very slightly.
-
Yeah I don't know about this right now. Not saying he wouldn't be good but just not sure at this stage.
-
Yeah gotta keep these things in mind especially if they are fresh out of the TAC Cup. Still its annoying
-
Whilst I agree 14 is probably around the mark we should aim for, I can't help but think we are setting ourselves up for disappointment when more games against North and co are dropped.
-
Not sure if many people have ever said this but I hope Wayne Carey is right.

Yeah that was the first thing I thought of when reading that -
I think these are all pretty fair. Bit high for Oscar but fair enough

There is a curse on this club. The Norm Smith Curse from his sacking, The Barassi curse from his defection, whatever you want to call it. We are two clubs in one, titans up until 1965, pussycats from thereafter. The curse of the Bambino was so well documented with the Boston Red Sox. Maybe this one needs to be constantly brought to attention. Oh no that's right we don't pay much attention to history or losing streaks or hoodos. It's just like any other game.

Yeah I certainly got worse as they day went on. Culminating in a terrible evening. I don't want to have to avoid football shows or any talk of football, how are you supposed to do that when you live in Melbourne? I got asked by a Geelong friend to go to their game with them next Fri. THE MCG and its surroundings feel like Ground Zero right now and I want to be anywhere but there at the minute.

I heard 22 of them were turning up as Harry Houdini. No sorry that was Saturday
