The Soccer thread
The title race will still be very exciting, barring whatever happens I'd still expect City to be too strong. It will be very interesting to see if Arsenal can take the next step though. It is but thats a great thing. One thing is for sure, there will plenty of great football being played.

Trade Targets
Fair questions. Possibly not but he's emerged as a hot forward that I'm sure they would like to tie down, we know very well that these marking types don't grow on trees. Like Viney around 2019 Jake has 100 games behind him and is now established. With the history he has at the club on top of this it would raise some eyebrows to see him leave now, not saying he wouldn't but more chance of him staying put I reckon. It could be 3 more years of pain but we've seen quicker bounces before. The trade bait/cashing in for English scenario is one that I hadn't considered yet, if they have tabled this 6 year deal then it could be worth looking at, I can't imagine the cap space wouldn't be there to throw at English though would it? Especially with Gaff, Darling, McGovern, Cripps also off contract this year or next.

Could be one of the more bizarre seasons coming right up with all eyes on November (or thereabouts) for the Man City trial..

Stats Files - 2024
Yeah no point being triggered by anything they do, I still don't know why so many in the other threads allow themselves to be constantly outraged week after week. The stats thing doesn't make much sense though. Depending on the price, I would absolutely be open to a paid subscription for premium level statistics. Would there be enough demand for such a product? Not sure, but I would!

Trade Targets
Same here. Not entirely sure why but I just don't see Waterman as gettable. Would be like Viney leaving around 2019.

Dusty Retires Immediately-ish?
True legend of the game. It's been an absolute pleasure watching this man go about it, the term generational is thrown around too much at the moment but he is someone who has defined his and then some. When you see kids at junior level running around doing the 'don't argue' you see this effect. Not that I would have begrudged him the chance to head north for a few years, it is rather fitting to see him retire as a one club player. Thanks for everything you've given the game Dusty.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
As Binman often says, our default gameplan is built for finals footy. Come finals time you will see a lot of teams play the forward half territory game. But during the home and away season if we were to go back to that I agree we would need to fix up the way we setup at stoppage and we absolutely need to get the high performance program spot on. The style we were playing is extremely taxing over the course of a season. Tweaking a gameplan is a much harder balancing act than people think and I can see just how easy it is to 'overcorrect'. I would like to still be doing this to try and find the right balance but it's important to not trek too far away from our DNA in my opinion.

You mean you were only partially invested in it throughout the year? Yee gads!

Wildcard Weekend
Was wondering when this fluff was rearing it's head again. I'd hate to be a dinosaur stick in the mud so bring it on..

Goodwin is the MAN!
If absolutely nothing else, it shows that the guy can coach.

Dees 2001-2024 = West Coast (2005-2008)
For instance, someone like Clarry. I understand and respect this isn't the real version of Clarry but with a player of his ability and stature, you would at least think that a 70-80% Oliver would still provide good value and that our midfield could hold their own in the contest. Not downplaying this in any way but I don't want to see this factor take away from other glaring issues like the way we are setting up at stoppages, depth in midfield etc.

A hopeful look at 2025 (from a pessimist)
Remember the title of the trade board at the end of 2022? "How to get back on track" Turns out the devil was in the detail, you really need to nail the off-season to keep the window open.

While I'd like it done pretty soon, I can see Langdon as someone taking the cucumber boy approach (as in cool as a..)

Time to go Goody?
Not even the biggest fans of post-clearance possession can defend that one.
