  1. That interview this morning was almost unlistenable. The amount of ads Played in each break was outrageous!! In the old days there was a limit of 6 advertisements per break, that law obviously doesn’t exist anymore

I forgot that to finish second on the ladder you must win at the NT.

I couldn't have been the 4 point loss to Port? The loss to Essendon in Adelaide? 7 points to Freo at the G? 2 goals to the Cats? 4 points to the Blues?

Nope. It was specifically the NT game. We'll ignore the fact that we won 5 on the trot following it. It's the NT game and the travel.

I for one quite like the game and what the club does around it. I'd be disappointed if they stopped.

Good for you. I would rather the Game was at The ‘G

A few passages from the article without copying the entire story.

Demons coach Simon Goodwin’s quick thinking has saved a man’s life in Bali, coming to the rescue after the man dislocated his shoulder. Goodwin was in Bali after the end of the AFL season and surfing with mates including 1993 premiership winner Rick Olarenshaw on the island of Nusa Ceningan. The Herald Sun reported that a young man jumped off a cliff into the water but dislocated his shoulder. The Demons coach rushed over to the man and dragged him onto the surfboard and took him to safety beyond the break. Goodwin then flagged down a passing jet ski and helped the man onto it to get him to safety. The father jumped in the water to help his son, and recognised Goody and started talking footy. Goody’s response was let’s save his son first then chat about footy later. Goody showed a lot less bravery when a sea snake came across his path.

    Dislocated shoulder hitting the water!!!

That would be a viscous way to go

Simplistic once again WYL. Put some thought into the sponsorship, developing local talent and the drafting possibilities.

We are becoming a big club despite the decades of being in the wilderness. We live in a national league and should compete on a bigger scale  outside our city, Melbourne.

I suggest the club knows better and will do what’s best for primarily for our success on field and off

    Chin up…

    I see it differently

playing in the NT this year cost us 2nd Spot.
    Sliding Doors…

Hawthorn did alright and won 3 premierships being in Tasmania. We won a premiership too, in 2021

This are just a little more complicated……… WYL…..

As I said, there are many ways we can assist the NT, without giving up home games. ($500,000) We need to make that money elsewhere.
I have no interest in hawthorn. They can do as they please. We must aim to be bigger, and not rely on handouts. It only gives opposition an edge they don’t deserve.

I am not even sure the AFL Premiership winner received a monetary amount then. Don’t be so precious because you have made a rather outlandish statement when sponsorship was a pipe dream.

I am well aware that the Dees were during their glory years ( 1954 to 1964 ) multi winners of the McClelland Trophy when Firsts Reserves and Under19’s were included. But a cash donation or prize then really? As you know we had limited chances during our 57 year hideaway only in the1987 to 1994 or in 1998 or from 2000 to 2006 if it was still held then.

Your assertion has the aura of a very salty fan that is grumpily throwing a toy or two out of your cot.

Just be thankful our Club is in the box seat in 2023 for this magnificent prize money and is in the hands of our top shelf AFLW women’s team who will give it an almighty shake like they did in the GF at that venue in Season7 and come up trumps again.

Sorry i have no idea what you are trying to say.
    my point is quite simple

Many Years ago when the Dr. McLelland Trophy was awarded to the Team who was the highest finisher of The U19, Reserves and Seniors in a Season, there should have been a Financial Reward.
This is for a Competition that pulled 121,000 to a GF in 1970

Where did all that money go??

I have always wondered. Bit like Cricket when Bradman was in charge…

We no longer sell the Alice game just for the $. That used to be the reason but it’s not so anymore. For one, the NT govt is one of our larger sponsors. And I’m not gonna go into how much it means for the community there. I’ve done so before and have regretted it, suffice to say I’m not as thick-skinned as I need to be.

There are many ways we can help the NT, without Selling Home Games.
That Philosophy grew from the 2008 era.
Our core business is winning Premierships

It was around back in the day when it was based on the combined H&A results of the under 19s, the reserves and the seniors. Of course that wasn’t sustainable because you need equal number of teams for it to be fair. Fast forward to now where for the first time, we have 18 teams in both the AFL and the AFLW.

Back in the Day, each VFL Side had U19 Reserves and Seniors. Back in the Days when September had crowds of 115,000 jammed into The MCG

The Good Doctor was awarded back in those days, and there should have been a Financial Prize for the winner

How many clubs own the land their training facilities are built on? I know St Kilda lease Moorabbin from City of Kingston.

Yes. Kingston have f$&@ the Saints over many times, because they own the land.
    I wouldn’t build a Multi $Million Complex on someone else’s land

Yes lease length will probably be an issue and the area inside the racecourse is governed by a trust. There is some land that is MRC owned on the perimeter of the racecourse as well. Will take time to work through the issues but Caulfield is the best bet for a single permanent home for the Demons for many reasons which have already been fleshed out in this thread.

Not if we don’t own the land, that could be absolutely diabolical in years to come….

It couldn’t as the women’s comp did not have all 18 teams as participants. So the Trophy was impossible. This is only the second year it was possible.

Sorry your little dig at the AFL was misguided. Sure if you look hard enough and check your stats you can find another matter to embarrass City Hall!!

    Sorry.
The Dr Mclelland Trophy has been around for Decades.
    long before the Women’s Comp.
it was originally based on U19 Reserves and Seniors

There should have been a Pot of Gold up for grabs a long time ago

Have to disagree on this one. They both have fundamental and critical root cause technique problems.

Trac has an overly high ball drop which means it is often not a straight ball drop, and kicks across the ball. Those flaws are exacerbated by his baffling spinning of the ball in his hands when lining up for set shots.

Max does just about everything wrong. Crooked run up, hold the ball at a weird angle which means an angled ball drop, spins the ball in his hands, doesn’t follow through on his kick etc.

Lloyd, who is the best set shot I’ve seen in football has explained all this.

It’s often hard to self-improve. So where are the coaches?

Both of these Boys should eye ball each other and get to work improving. Don’t tell me it can’t be done. It is all about attitude

I have heard Tracc interviewed. He genuinely wants to be elite, kicking a Football is the absolute root of his craft, so get better.
Max as Captain simply has to kick those clutch goals, when required

    We have wasted 2 years….

Not really, we still hold the cards next year and I’m not convinced that what Adelaide can offer would get us near Reid.

If Harry wants to go home, is he going to be 100% committed?

We saw Luke Jackson taper off, I don’t want that situation again.

    He wants to go home

But yes it also depends what Adelaide are prepared to offer
