  1. It depends on if you want to be excellent or just average There is nowhere to hide. Imagine if the AFL had relegation...
  2. Top 4 should be the base objective of our Club each year. That is what it should be... Top 8 out of 18 shouldn’t be a huge hurdle
  3. Harry was well paid for a small output We have had so many of them. Tiresome i am with Moon ? Eyes Forward
  4. Thanks for all the reports Now it all starts again
  5. Swooper Coached a Tough Side. Really tough. We lacked a little Polish and needed a Gun CHF as opposed to a good one. The Reverend Sides had more skill but the roller coaster ? years were infuriating 1990 we shoulda 1998 we shoulda 1988 lucky to make The GF but we did it from 5th, dropped games at critical times. 2000 we were a dam good side, but Essendrug were 10x better all season 2002 we were far too loose in defence, good to watch, but Brisbane would have smashed us up on GF day 2004 was another year we coulda, but we choked after being top of the ladder in Round 18. 5 straight losses.... Leadership is critical, throughout the whole Club, and it has let us down so often
  6. So the Captaincy Role (There should only ever be one) and Onfield Leadership are not important... and the Draft is a complete lottery... Ok right....
  7. Pity it is not against SA or WA The all Stars just doesn’t do it for me. i have donated and will again and again
  8. What a great way to run a Department We excel at pissing off our own supporters in so many ways..
  9. Speaking with my Uncle over the years (he has now passed on) as a Richmond Supporter, he often told me how big and hated The MFC was. Up until 1964 it was the MFC and The Filth followed by everyone else. We had won 6 flags in 10 years and been Runners Up twice. We were hated, make no mistake. Sad to think how far we have fallen, through poor management over 50 + years
  10. It wouldn’t have happened if strong leadership had been running the Club. That’s the point, and it is what still concerns me about last year. How strong is our leadership right now? Big Year this one coming up...
  11. But it wasn’t bad luck that our bad form was in 1965 and onwards. It was shocking management. The signs were there already and the old stale board that pulled the strings did SFA about it. Weak Leadership.
  12. Haven’t seen that for awhile. Awesome ?
  13. I hope all our Country Members are ok in these Bushfires. stay Strong. Long way to go yet...
  14. Sue our form from 1965 onwards was not bad luck. The Club totally miss read the environment it was in when TV first arrived, it also miss read the new Contracts being offered at that stage. it wasn’t enough to “just play at The MCG” as an offer to play for us. Richmond took our place over 2-3 years, and we have never been able to pull it back. Yes Richmond had a long drought and they had to rattle tins, but they NEVER lost their Supporter base, which is exactly what we missed out on in the late 1960’s-70’s It comes down to Leadership, which is why i mentioned it in the first place. We can still be a Powerhouse Club again, we have the name. But we must demand and expect shrewd and innovative Leadership all through the Club, onfield and off But i cannot stress that original point enough, by missing the boat with TV in the mid to late 1960’s was a massive hit. The First Game I remember going to was the 1970 GF. 121,000 people were there (somehow!) and so much of that rivalry between Carlton and Collingwood was due to TV exposure on Saturday Nights.
  15. Yes i am well aware thanks so much
  16. At least i give an opinion. Have no idea what yours are, You just throw darts ?
  17. We disagree on that one. Without exposure, supporters and sponsorship drop down and everything else follows You put it down to bad luck....
  18. “And goes BANG straight through the center...” J Dyer 3KZ is football
  19. I am sure we didn’t intend to give it up, but regardless. We did. Richmond moved into our turf and stayed, and got their act together straight away We were still blindsided by the oncoming professionalism of the game. TV Bought in big money and we were not used. It all accumulates... i don’t disagree with anything you say above by the way, but the roots to all of our modern problems began with our lack of TV Coverage. The MFC was not part of people’s loungeroom when The VFL was growing a brand new audience
  20. But North will always be a small club regardless of Media. We, The MFC were a Powerhouse who completely miss read the new Broadcasting of the 1960’s (as well as some other things) We had the Power and gave it up. a Completely different scenario
  21. We are not North. That is the point We should never be compared with them, yet we are, through shocking management over decades. So many supporters defend the position we have found ourselves in. I have never understood why...
  22. We didn’t win in those years. it was rare to see the MFC on TV during the 1960’s and 70’s. The Power base and generations of young supporters was lost to other clubs
  23. And that is only your opinion This club has had so many opportunities to get it right, but keeps coming up short 1965 was a huge year, if you don’t agree i can’t help you. Football became a TV ? Sport and we were never on... that’s where it all started
  24. We allowed ourselves to slowly become irrelevant once the game was on Television in 1965. That was the big one Other problems stemmed from there. Gutnick made some very bad judgements and wouldn’t listen to anyone’s advice Sheedy should have been given the Coaching job after the Rev. there are a few examples i can give you on short notice
