true, but if they were full time professionals they could better hone their decision making and rule interpretation (as well as many other useful activities) So, for at least improving umpire standards and consistency at the AFL level it should work -

i think teams playing on sunday who are forced to nominate a team on thursday have a bit more leeway for changes our team tonight would have more stringent conditions

in terms of ducking or lowering your centre of gravity etc i like to split it into 2 categories 1. ducking/weaving etc away from the tackler, to avoid a tackle and break free. i consider this legitimate 2. ducking into a tackle. this is staging for a free and a free should not be played. it is either play on or holding the ball if there is prior. i would also like to see umps caution players who do this.

raising eyebrows? opening mouth like a gold fish? shaking head left to right? giving oneself a nev facepalm? and finally saying sarcastically "good decision, ump"? -

again macca, you are painting me as saying things i've never said my beef is and always has been that these new interpretations have gone too far, and to the extent of being damaging to the respect for umpires. now tell me how that point of view is too hard for you understand, even if you disagree
